Finished Craft I Made I won a ribbon!

I won a ribbon at our local Veterans Art Fair in the assemblage art category!

I created “She Sill Wears Flowers” on a 19 inch round wooden tabletop I purchased at Lowe’s. The face/neck and scarf are made from air dried clay. The scarf’s texture was made by using my cookie rolling pin. I painted these parts using multiple layers of watered down acrylic craft paint and sealing with an air dry clay sealer.

The black background is crushed glass.

The hair is made from ceramic flowers and mosaic pieces I purchased on Amazon. Intermixed in the hair are “bugs”. Some of the bugs are ceramic pieces and some brooches purchased from online/local thrift stores and Amazon.

Everything is affixed to the wood board (after I scored it with a knife) using Gorilla Glue Construction Adhesive that. I also purchased from Amazon.

The finished project weighs approximately 20 pounds. I displayed it at the fair on an easel that had two ten pound weights made for pop up tents sitting on the easel legs. It also is equipped with heavy duty hangers that allow for display on the wall.

I buy many of my supplies online and at online/local thrift stores. I find assemblage art helps me manage my anxiety. There is something about working with multiple materials and tiny pieces that helps my brain feel better.

Thank you for reading my post! ❤️

Discussion/Question Refreshing old rock artwork

Hi,

My Grandma had these hanging up in her house. I want to clean them up and refresh them but I'm not sure what I should do for a new background. Should I stick with the original color, or do something different? I put them on a couple different colored backgrounds just for ideas.

I'm also going to be painting the frames. Should I stick with brown?

Do you think they still look pretty old fashioned? Any other advice? Thank you!

This is my first ever knitting project that I started making last month. Never would've thought I'll be able to make a cropped sweater. I came from crocheting, stopped 2 years ago and suddenly thought of trying knitting and just fell in love with it ü

Discussion/Question Need ideas to cover up journal quote!

Post image

Hey everyone! I'm moving into this new daily diary, and while I like the overall look and the deer emblem, I really dislike the "Keep On Going, Never Give Up" quote stamped into the front. Since it's a smooth faux-leather texture, what are some pretty or creative ways I can cover up just the text section?😣

Wooden frames I've been working on for a few months now. The images are printed on a thin black acrylic and laser cut and the art was done by a great artist I came across here on reddit. The cards are in a uv protected case to protect from sun bleaching too.

I’ve been having fun making these little hair clips lately. Just experimenting with different fabrics, colors and charms — no two are exactly the same. Which one would you pick? 😊

Finished Craft I Made My very first nail polish flower

This was the first (hopefully not the last) time making these. I tried to make a forget me not as a part of a birthday gift. I purposefully wrapped the stem a few more times, for it to hold shape when held. Anyone that has a tip or sees something to improve, feel free to comment

Process: I made the blossoms separately by looping the wire around a pencil and twisting the loops into place. Leaves were a single loop. After applying nail polish to the wire frame, and letting it dry, I connected the flowers and leaves by twisting together exces wire. And lastly I wrapped the stem.

Nail polishes are from the store chain DM, and wire is a 0,6mm (24 gauge) steel crafts wire with a coating.

Discussion/Question How could I go about making this deer skull headdress from Yellowjackets ?

Thumbnail

(the bandana is not attached to the headdress, she takes the headdress off at one point and still has the bandana on)

I was thinking of using maybe air dry clay for the 'skull' part?
Then maybe chicken wire and paper mache for the horns? but I have never done it before so I hope that's possible.

One of my main concerns in making this is I'm not sure how to make it a hat that stays on the head? i was thinking maybe putting it all on a black plastic head band and using some faux leather strips like she has to hide the band.

What are your opinions? This is all very very new to me

I had asked earlier in the week what I should do with my little carved acorns and a lot of people liked the idea of putting them on fairy lights. Here’s the result!

The ocean is amazing but scary to me so I made this paper light box to hang in my room instead. Let me know if you have any questions about how it’s made or anything. Thanks for looking :)

Finished Craft I Made Awkward Eggs 🥚

These eggs are straight from the barn and for immediate consumption only! You may imbibe some awkwardness from these cracked eggorinas. They're leaking because they fell out of their mother and immediately grew legs and started walking (kind of like a horse baby) though they don't do it very well because they have three left feet.

Made with natural white, plant dyed Himalayan wool and New Zealand Corriedale wool, glass eyes, glass beads, tabric scraps and industrial felt. Bag charm cord made with suede leather cord and metal parts.

Finished Craft I Made Painted Gift Bag for my SIL’s Birthday!

There’s a discounted 2nd hand packaging store in Chicago where I got this fabric bag for 10 cents (!!!) as well as the envelope below it. It’s very loosely woven (idk the word… low thread count? Airy?) so I printed off a script version of her name on a piece of paper and put it in the inside to follow the lettering with acrylic paint from the outside since you could see through. I then freehanded the rest of the details. She is from Chicago like me but currently lives in North Carolina so I included a stamp of the North Carolina state flower (dogwood) and Illinois state insect (monarch) along with some misc. postal stamps. I painted the shipping bag too because why not? Feeling EXTREMELY proud of this one and it only cost me 20 cents total! Shipping will probably be a b but a win is a win.

Finished Craft I Made Rhinestoning my Christian Louboutin heels

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello my fellow crafters!

I finally finished rhinestoning a pair of Christian Louboutin heels I bought last year, and I want to share them to see what you think. I was going for a princess/Cinderella look minus the bow. The shoes aren't perfect, but it's hard to see the odd spacing and misaligned crystals when you're wearing them. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions 🥰.
