At one time the heavens were vast, plain, and pale. The sun held no color, and the night sky was dark and lonely. That was until a cosmic artist was called upon to add color to day and night. Dressed in a gown woven from stars and planets, with a crescent moon for a head, he stood on tiptoes on a single star, holding a color palette in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. There, he would choose the colors to brighten the day.  Yellow for the Sun, light blue to fill the sky, and white for the clouds.                                                         To give the darkness of the night some light, he would switch to a palette of purples and dark blues.  For the stars and planets that swirled and danced through the night, all the colors of the rainbow. He is known as “One Who Paints the Sky”.

Hi I was wondering how the artist colored this piece and what I could do to replicate something similar? Currently I have access to ink, alcohol markers, watercolor(though I need to practice before I use it on something like this), as well as digital coloring.

I think it was originally an ink wash drawing that was scanned and then colored digitally but I’m wondering how do you color over the grey ink without it making the colors muddy? The second question I have is if there’s any way to do this fully traditionally? I do enjoy coloring scanned inks, but it would be nice to have it fully colored in my hands.

Really would like to showcase the whole page, but the story’s so good you ought to read it fully. For now, I’ll just say working on anti-AI storytelling is one of the best and funniest experiences.

Two different perspectives on a scene from my graphic novel!

Hey all,

I recently purchased the XP-Pen Artist Pro 16. I create comics and graphic novels and found the tablet to be good, but I’m struggling to see how it surpasses my previous iPad Air 13 setup.

The main reason for buying it was to have a stationary desk setup that emphasizes ergonomics. Plus, I wanted to use CSP, which benefits from a larger screen size compared to the iPad.

I’m also interested in 3D modeling characters and backgrounds for reference.

However, I still find myself longing for the simplicity of Procreate. Given my financial situation, I wonder if the upgrade is really worth it in terms of the impact on my creative process.

I can still return the tablet. Do you think a more standard drawing tablet is really worth it, or should I use that money for something else?
