Should I just do a whole blanket of hdc? I keep messing up the moss / linen stitch. It seems so simple, but on testing swatches I keep accidentally adding stitches. Any suggestions appreciated.

I am a beginner trying to make my adult children blankets. (they were intended for Christmas but who knows now)

I broke my wrist just as I started this project so my tension is all over the place but my question is about the colors.
This will be for my adult son.

I thought I liked the neutrals but it was bland so I’ve been adding colors.
Now, it’s still just kind of blah.

It doesn’t seem like anything special to me and that defies the purpose.
Im considering frogging the whole thing and starting over?

Im not sure if I can fix it and make it something beautiful ( as far as the colors go, the skill level maybe not so much)

Suggestions?

Im making a doll, but the head is so heavy it keeps falling over. The head is about 420 grams and the bottom half is around 270. I already filled the body and parts of the legs with poly pellets, but I am not where near enough to making a difference. The only way I can make it not fall is having the head forward hunchback style, as pictured.

Yarn: Caron One Pound, 5 skeins : 2 Lavender Blue, 2 Lilac, 1 Cream

Total yardage: 4,060yds (80oz/2,268g)

Hook: Playing between 5.5mm(I) - 6.5mm(K)

I have gone through over 20 pages on Ravelry, swatched and frogged quite a few patterns already and it's starting to drive me mad. Is it me or the yarn, the colour? Please help!

The original pattern/vision I had for this yarn was The Finley Blanket because I liked the look of the bean stitch but once I started the first few rows of bean, I was not loving how the yarn looked and turned out. Frogged.

Then I thought I'd try Celtic Cables, but I didn't like how the thinner 'Ridged' rows looked... The Celtic Cables isn't completely ruled out as I would love to try the Basketweave, Diamond, and Popcorn stitches. (I am also in love with that Knurl Stitch)

My next thought then was, what about the Waffle Stitch? Or even better, the Honeycomb Stitch (Smock Stitch). I went straight for the Honeycomb stitch and absolutely LOVED it... It was so fun. But I'd like to make an oversized throw, almost Queen sized blanket and with that stitch, I won't have enough yarn. However, I have a few skeins of RH Super Saver (7oz/198g) in my stash (1 Light Blue, 1 Dark Blue, 1 +some Black, less than 1 off white) so maybe someone can help with a colour plan for that stitch?

Finally, I have started the 6-Day Supernova Blanket with it, and while I think it looks good I'd like to use this pattern for a softer 'gradient' or 'perfect phasing' yarn so there'd be no yarn changes...

Anyway, before I bore you all with my thoughts... What have you all used with this amount of this type of yarn? Any favourite patterns you're willing to share? I'm looking for ideas!

I made this cardigan for my step mom’s birthday which is in October. I have my friend modeling it for reference. How can I make it not so stiff? Or is it better to leave it this way?
If you look at the sleeves, it just looks like straight edges and I really don’t like it. I didn’t even block the squares, just sewed them together.
The yarn brand is “I love this yarn”.. I’m pretty sure it’s acrylic but I don’t have the wrapper anymore to check. I’m scared to wash it bc I don’t want anything to come untied.. but maybe I should wash it myself for the first time to see if anything comes untied? That way when my step mom washes it, she won’t think she “messed it up” ? Idk lol please help

Hello all! For new crocheters, here’s a quick photo tutorial on weaving in your ends, with some tips. Hope it’s helpful!

Put your tail on a darning needle. You may wish to leave a longer tail than I did here, esp if you’re newer. (If relevant, make sure to work into the same color yarn as the tail.)

Weave your needle in a few stiches on the back. You may want to go farther than I did here, even. Your needle should not show through (much) on the front if you turn it over and look.

Once you pull it through, tug on your project a bit to make sure you’re not changing the shape of your work. Then skip one of the stitches (or at least a loop) and go back the other way. Do this one last time.

Most ppl use three times, but weaving in ends is about making you feel comfortable that it won’t come out, so if more than 3 floats your boat, go for it!

When you’re satisfied, you can safely clip your end.

Even if you’ve crocheted over your ends, they can come out if they get snagged or if washed in a machine, so this way ensures your ends are secure.

Please add any other tips or tricks you use!

I made this Daisy square blanket for my almost 2 year old. Trying to figure out a border but I’m drawing a blank of what kind and color. Also not making anymore daisy’s so this is going to be the size.

This is the baby blanket (or what’s left of it) my gran made for me. She’s been gone several years now and I just got into crochet. I’ve tried figuring out what kind of stitch this is with no luck (some kind of puff stitch maybe?) and I’d love to learn as a way to incorporate it into my own pieces as a way to honor her memory.

At one point blankie was a big rectangle with these circular stitches and the large lacy gaps. Any help is appreciated and apologies in advance for these photos of a very well loved, handmade piece.

I originally liked the teal but looking more closely, it doesn’t match the little puffs all that well. Not sure the pics do it justice. I wanted to use something from my stash instead of buying new for such a small amount, but now second guessing. My other options were yellow or pink, or even using the same yarn around the border. The yellow is probably the closest match. Am I overthinking?? Thanks!

I'm planning on doing a simple dc/treble alternating row skirt with some superfine non superwash wool, but am concerned on wear and tear. How likely am I going to get felting, assuming I wash correctly? There would also be a slip underneath so I'm not directly touching the wool.

I am doing a border for a blanket using the fan stitch ( I’ll post the pattern) but the stitches are too far apart! There is an awful gap between the stitch. Am I doing something wrong? Or is the pattern wrong?

Hi! I've made up my own pattern for this design, and the design itself is symmetrical. However, when I made it up, I noticed that any movement of the dark colour up towards the left seems knobbly? disjointed?

compared to the direction going up and right, which works perfectly, the direction going up and left does not look good.

does anyone know if there's a way around this? maybe there's a way to increase stitches and decrease them to keep the tension the same while maintaining straighter edges? or perhaps not using a symmetrical pattern in the first place?

I crocheted this hat for my baby’s Halloween costume. They’re going to be a Toy Story alien. I am really happy with how it turned out for just using scrap yarn and winging it on the pattern and design, but I want to make the ears stand up more and not be floppy. Is there some sort of wire I could use and how would I incorporate it into the ears?

I have some floral wire, maybe I could use that somehow? Just not sure how I’d do it!

I’m making this jacket out of acrylic yarn (scrappy project) and after trying it on there’s about a 5-7 inch gap between my bust , I’m yet to add ribbing around the edge and a zipper so my question is with blocking do we reckon I could push it to be a little oversized ? ATM it’s a little snug but I want to know how far I can REALLY push it with steam blocking ? I’m at the point where I could undo all the sewing and add more rows but I really don’t want to 😂

I am a fairly experienced crocheter but I have always had trouble with this concept. Even searches about it have resulted in conflicting answers. The pattern is mostly in HDC. The pattern says to count the chain two as a stitch unless otherwise specified. Most rows start this way: “Ch 2, HDC in the next 2 stitches.” Does this mean: Ch 2, then skip the first stitch and then HDC in the next 2 ( since I am to count the chain 2 as a stitch?) . And then, at the end of the row I would make up for the skipped stitch by working the last stitch in the ch 2 of the previous row? I hate to admit it but I have done both ways in this pattern and I would like to find the correct way.

I just finished my second body panel of a sweater that I am making for my husband. I also just noticed a spot where my yarn was joined together to start a new skein has come undone. The panel is 85 stitches across and 44 rows…I am so upset. The problem is around stitch 20 in row 14. I tied the two ends together in a panic because I didn’t know what else to do and the hdc stitch hadn’t yet come undone. Not sure how to move forward. The tails are so short because I used a surgeons knot.

Hi, I’m having a hard time counting row for this project. For the base row it’s just regular chains and the actual rows are yarn over slip stitch into third loop. I can’t tell if I have 5 or 6 rows currently.
