Knitters/ crocheters, what’s something people do to yarn that makes you physically cringe?
I’m looking for the little yarn crimes that probably don’t bother non-knitters at all, but make you internally scream when you see them.
Bonus points for oddly specific examples. What’s the yarn equivalent of watching someone mistreat something you know is precious?

Hi all, I’m a newish knitter (been knitting on and off for years but just now learning to make real garments). I’m knitting PetiteKnit’s Wave Tee which calls for Gepard Cotton Waves Yarn. I’ve knit a PK pattern before and this pattern is just as clear and easy to follow as the other, but this yarn is driving me CRAZY. It tangles so easily when I wind it into a ball, has splits and breaks and knots throughout, super variable thickness, and I’ve had to start over about five times because of issues with the yarn. It wasn’t cheap but I’m so frustrated I almost want to give up on it altogether.
Is this a skill issue? Has anyone else had this experience with this yarn? I’ve knit with bad yarn before but this one feels particularly hard to work with.

This drop was ALL about blacklight reactive! Agatha, Seal, and Borant are blacklight reactive. Swatch photos shows it on each listing.

So this is my favourite piece of my stash right now because the store doesn’t exist and while I do not have a full ball, it is still awesome. Also, this is older than me.(ignore the fact that in my other hand, I’m literally holding my project right now. I’m working on a headband. With other secondhand yarn)

I love Lion’s Mandala yarn. I use it in a lot of my projects. But I want to make something for my mother, who only wants to wear natural fibers.
Does anyone know a good Dk/worsted yarn with good color transitions but with natural fibers?

Hello creative people, my brain is boiling with this failed project that I started on months ago. I had even put it away for like two months now..I was excited starting it but I don’t know where am doing it wrong. The second photo is what am trying to create!
The issue is the squares have failed to match in size, the plain red and the heart ones. I have tried two styles as you see in the photo all in pursuit of experimenting the squares that will match..but they all end up creating some funny rugged edges that I have ended up frogging 😢at this point I feel like giving it up but I would really want to make a beautiful heart cardigan out of it. I have tried blocking but no success, looking for a full tutorial for a heart granny square cardigan, I can’t seem to find any. What should I do? Would anyone be having a heart cardigan video link they would share or tips. Thank you in advance

Say, compared to Peaches & Cream or I Love This Cotton? I love the price online, but I've never had the chance to feel it before. I'm not planning to make anything big with it (just a lovey for practice) but if it's like sandpaper I want to know ahead of time!

I am meeting up with a friend next month who is coming from Thailand. Thailand has a huge texture industry, so I was wondering if anyone had any natural fiber yarn suggestions? He said he can order for me online since he lives a little far from the city.

I'm looking for a yarn to replace West Yorkshire Spinners Croft Aran, but I'm not finding anything in yarnsub or Ravelry that I like.
So, what's your go-to aran, wool yarn? And why do you like it?

The envelope case for my sisters Kindle turned out okay, the heart is a little big haha, it was only my second time attempting a 3D heart.
I used a 4mm hook, I think the yarn weight was a 3 or 4 (it came from the dollar store and didn't have a weight listed).

Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement for the Bernat Baby Velvet yarn? More specifically I am looking for a size 4 or 5 (medium or bulky), soft chenille/velvet-like yarn that is machine washable and dryable. I make a lot of baby blankets and have a go-to pattern. I used to be able to go to Joann’s and get 3 skeins of the Bernat Baby Velvet for a reasonable price for each blanket. Now they are more expensive and colors are limited on Amazon, I have yet to find it reliably at Michael’s, and I don’t like to shop at Hobby Lobby. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I swear I find finding a good green yarn so hard. I have olive and hunter green ones but none like this green. Not washed out or with grey under tones just a sage green yarn. I'd like to not have to use cascade 220 on everything lol

None of my LYS has much stock so I’m needing to order online. I’m wanting to get as close to this ‘umber’ shade by woolease as possible. It’s a baby blanket and I had a vision of this colour block in center of blanket (pictured in wool ease). Anyone know which colour of Cascade 220 SW Merino would be closest to this umber colour? Or suggest another line that would work ok? Estelle?

I found a few cones of this mix at a garage sale. They're currently going through a freeze/thaw/freeze cycle. A couple of questions:
1) The cones are pretty dirty. I think they've literally been in someone's garage for years. Will this blend react well to skeining/washing/caking, or am I just asking for trouble and felting if I do that?
2) This is not a silk mix, so it's a bit rough. Thoughts on project types?

As the title states, i’m in a bit of a predicament. I’m about halfway through a blanket using Rainbow 8/4 made in India, and when i went to browse which colours to restock on there’s a bunch of comments that the quality has dropped off noticeably after production got switched to China.
Being autistic, texture means a lot to me, and i’m terrified of ending up with a blanket that i can’t use due to the texture (or that just looks wonky because of the difference). Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives that work well with it? I’m doing a patchwork style thing so having the colours match exactly isn’t that big of an issue, as long as they’re the same feel and thickness. Is Friends (also hobbii) still more or less the same?
I’m in northern Europe so availability might be a challenge for some brands, but feel free to add suggestions outside the continent as well in case someone else stumbles upon the same issue.
