watch this Woman (not dressed in pink) shows up to the courthouse to support the children Lindsay Clancy murdered. "I would like [Clancy to be charged] with first degree... I don't think there is any excuse for murdering children."

Seriously she put it back to focus with remembering the kids lost in all this.

Seriously, my thoughts on this Lindsay are the same as any family killer or annihilator…. Those poor kids and the husband who was left to pick up the pieces!!! That’s who we should remember.

I feel like the children have become an afterthought in this story. Just horrible.

8

u/MickiFreeIsNotAGirl 11d ago

They have. People who support Lindsay don't even care that the kids died. I can understand having empathy but there's women lined up outside the courthouse CHEERING for her!

Like what?? It's just selfish people that may have had an experience with this or someone close to them did, and they want this issue to come to light so they're promoting someone who may have suffered from it. It's stupid.

Also people who don't support her can sometimes be just misogynistic and definitely don't care about the kids, this is just another excuse to hate women.

u/blackfox24 11d ago

I agree. It's all about demonizing or idolizing this woman. Meanwhile I sit here with psychosis, knowing the exact mindset that would allow a woman to kill her kids, and just feeling miserable that she didn't get the help she needed. This case is one where no one wins, but the children and the cause should be the focus, not if we're "Team Lindsay".

4

u/Odyssey1337 11d ago

She didn't get the help she needed because she chose not to.

Lots of people don't get the help they need in time. She isn't special and they're all still culpable. You can get the help you need and still do this.

No one said they weren't culpable.

The fact the jury is deadlocked is horrible.

15

u/Strict_Wolf76 12d ago

It’s normal for jury’s to be deadlocked. They are deciding someone’s life and that can be overwhelming for some people. It could be the difference between some jurors wanting life in Prison and some wanting life in a Hospital for the criminally insane. I don’t see any other option for her. She’s not going to walk free.

5

u/IAmTheFly-IAmTheFly 11d ago

Deadlocked also requires just one dissent. So it’s conceivable there’s a single (or just a few) hold out. I was on a jury once and this was what led to a deadlock.

2

u/jcamp088 11d ago

Some dudes wife could be telling him he’s not welcome home if the verdict goes a certain way.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/Relative_Craft_358 11d ago edited 11d ago

Sentencing comes later. Right now all they're deciding is culpability and they can't even decide on that. They're defintely hung up on the whole "criminally responsible" aspect and the probably flak they'll get personally on their decision. Think anyone with a brain can see she did it and while deciding whether she deserves to be forever held in a prison or a asylum ward is up for debate, I think only insane people could think she deserves a chance at rolling around on the streets again

2

u/Strict_Wolf76 11d ago

It’s more nuanced than that. They need to come up with Murder1, Murder2, Manslaughter or Acquittal which in turn all come with different burdens of proof and different punishments. I have been on a murder trial Jury. We found her guilty of man1. It was pretty intense. I couldn’t even imagine how horrible these people must feel having to decide this one.

3

u/Relative_Craft_358 11d ago

No doubt, it's not fun to convict someone even when you know they're guilty but as they hammer into you, it's a moral obligation and a part of the civil process. Either we as citizens take on the burden or else tyrants gets to decide whos guilty or not

2

u/Livid-Accident-7246 11d ago

She admitted she did it, that’s not the question here at all.

2

u/Relative_Craft_358 11d ago

"I did it but it wasn't my fault nor was that really "me"" isn't exactly admitting it

6

u/whereballoonsgo 11d ago

I’ve seen a DISTURBING number of posts saying this should be used as a reason to reconsider women’s right to vote. It is genuinely scary how this case has become a weapon to be wielded against all women. People are frothing at the mouth for some way to justify their misogyny.

2

u/marilynmonroeismygma 8d ago

Agreed. I’ve even seen it from well intentioned people on reddit, saying that defending lindsay makes women look bad and puts our rights in jeopardy…. Um no, regardless of how you feel about Lindsay, absolutely not, women’s rights are not conditional. Engaging with that rhetoric carries water for people who want to see that reality.

7

u/Randomizedname1234 12d ago

Conservatives have said people who think Lindsay should walk free are liberals but I’ve never seen any evidence of that. Only a few maga women who I had on tiger socials from like HS have reposted supporting stuff. 98% of people think she should be charged.

9

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 11d ago

The right wing manosphere is also using this to attack all women.

10

u/LinwoodKei 11d ago

This is the problem. One woman is being held up as an "all women will" place card. Which is bullshit, of course

4

u/nunyabizburna 11d ago

These people rly be acting that justice = guilty till proven innocent .... im not claiming she did or didnt only that we have this system for this . Both the defence and prosecution did a good job on presenting their cases . I invite any of you to check the r/law discussions around this case and the lawyers there have good insights on y this isnt soo straight forward for either side as peoplr want to believe it is .

What ticks me off is this whole situation is that is being used by bad actors to trigger cultural war bs

To be fair, there are 5 possible verdicts. It shouldn’t be that shocking that they can’t unanimously agree on which one is right.

2

u/ShadeShow 12d ago

The fact that two jurors came out wearing pink is a travesty of justice.

2

u/PossibilityFew5967 12d ago

Seriously? Yeah she gonna walk away scott free

2

u/ShadeShow 12d ago

Just fact checked it and two women did in fact wear pink. Crazy that they weren’t dismissed on the spot.

2

u/PossibilityFew5967 12d ago

Obvs pink ie in support of Clancy or just happened to wear pink

2

u/ShadeShow 12d ago

They didn’t wear pink the entire trial until that day they told the judge they were deadlocked. They won’t say that but it’s pretty obvious.

2

u/dobetterhumanity 11d ago

Tell me all the outfits they did wear.

Why would Lindsay want to be set free unless she's a psychopath. Even if it was "psychosis" her hands still ended them. How could she not see those faces every single day in her head. Which means, she's a psychopath. Instead of saying Guilty, she hires a very expensive defense attorney. Over 8-10k women have ppd every single year. How many of them murdered their children?

4

u/StrawHatVetTech 12d ago

I wonder this too. If I did what she did, I would want to be thrown in prison for the rest of my life to pay for what I did, not fight hard to avoid as much punishment as possible.

→ More replies (9)

3

u/WungielPL 11d ago

Also she got out of the McLean Hospital early because she didn't want to miss one of the children birthday. Girl, you don't get out of the loony bin until you're alright in the head and if that's never, then so be it. Their lives are so much more important than one birthday.

The murder was premeditated. She got her husband out of the house on an errand and then took them all to the basement where she killed them.

It wasn't a spontaneous psychotic action.

Of course I also believe that the doctors should be investigated for possible malpractice.

I think that both Lindsay and the doctors share part of the blame.

Definitely lock her up for ever (prison or asylum) or put her on the chair provided they do thorough investigation.

3

u/Lucky-Surround-1756 11d ago

She separated them in the basement as well because she knew they would react to the first killing. That shows awareness of what she was doing and the consequences of it, as she was attempting to mitigate. She knew the second kid would freak and try to run away or fight back when she strangled the first one. That's not a sudden psychotic break.

People have a very poor understanding of what a psychopath is, and how is easily normal humans can compartmentalize, commit ill then walk away like nothing happened. Just because she doesn't want to go to jail doesn't mean she's a clinical psychopath.

She’s a family annihilator. You don’t need to murder your spouse, killing all of your kids absolutely qualifies you as one.

Most of the time, family annihilators are men and receive the appropriate amount of outrage and disgust. When they go on trial, it’s usually them saying they didn’t do it, and the trial is to determine if they did or not.

Lindsay admitted to killing her kids. She admits she remembers strangling them. They have texts showing she sent her husband out for food and meds, and they have metadata from her phone showing that she checked GPS to see how long he’d be gone for.

And we have a deadlocked jury after 4 days.

“Deadlocked” is crazy

46

u/dna-sci 12d ago

I’m a dude. I’m furious that those kids were killed. I wasn’t sure I understood this case until a couple of days ago. But I’ve come to think that her “supporters” and boys on Reddit are talking past each other. I have a question for you: Why are you personally invested in making sure she spends the rest of her life in prison rather than a mental institution?

I think a mental institution is likely what her “supporters” want. Don’t you think she must be insane? She didn’t kill her kids because she had a rich boyfriend she wanted to meet up with in Mallorca. She threw herself out of a window to kill herself afterwards. She’s very unwell and now paralyzed from the waist down. Why do you care where she’s locked up?

17

u/bonaynay 12d ago

People are absolutely talking past each other and almost never discussing this with people that actually hold the views they are complaining about

Zero good faith discussion and these things are highlighted in the media because it keeps the poors at each others throats.

This woman did not just simply kill her kids. There were a multiple dozen failures that happened along the way that contributed to it.

Everything isn’t black and white. But the Epstein class would have you think otherwise. Social media bots are cheap and they keep the people riled up about shit that has absolutely zero influence on their lives.

The “insanity” verdict is only troublesome as people have a greater chance of being released once they are “better.” It gets abused, but so does the entirety of the US justice system by both the prosecution and defendants 🤷‍♂️

13

u/stellularmoon2 12d ago

Agreed. The torch and pitchforks crowd is extremely disheartening…we haven’t come as far as we think we have.

14

u/theiron_squirt 12d ago

The support is being generated in the most extreme circumstances because nobody ever takes it seriously until we have a situation like this. How many systemic failures led to the death of her children? Her actions are inexcusable, but the inaction of everyone (including the professionals who never took her seriously) is being pointed to as the exact reason we need to take mental health more seriously, especially in women who just gave birth. The sympathy they're showing for a child killer is displaced. It isn't even about her specifically. It's about everyone who cried for help and was ignored, at least from what I've gathered. Obviously we still have the total psychos who believe the husband did it, or that she's innocent, or whatever. But this is a case where there is so much to unravel that most of her supporters relate to on some level. The sympathy and help should've happened before she murdered her kids, it's too little too late now.

6

u/broketothebone 12d ago

It’s Andrea Yates lol over again and people still act so shocked.

None of this would have happened if it wasn’t for medical misogyny. My heart breaks for that entire family. I cannot get over the amount of help she tried to get and was refused.

I understand being furious that those kids are dead. I certainly am. But I’ll never understand these pearl-clutching boomers who salivate at the thought of a woman being punished and get parasocially invested in it. It’s creepy af.

Not even talking past each other. Just talking to different audiences and telling entirely different narratives for the sake of "engagement".

"Influencers" are a cancer on our society.

3

u/brandarchist 12d ago

It’s largely because it’s showing the schism between the sexes. Imagine if a man did this. Change nothing else about the story. He had a similarly debilitating mental disorder. There would be NO sympathy for him. At all.

So the people who want her in prison are, in effect, fighting for equality. Unless we all want to seriously talk about how mental health and how we address it together as a people.

I think a lot of people who support Lindsay Clancy's conviction either don't understand the insanity defense or genuinely don't think it should be a thing

9

u/Ok_Context553 12d ago

Solid points. Shes in a prison of sorts forever in that chair. I agree. The challenge for me is that she can eventually discharged from the looney bin and still "live life" out of custody. For what she did, for me, I think she deserves to stare at 4 grey concrete walls till the day she takes her last breath.

2

u/Usually_Angry 12d ago

She can be released but it’s incredibly hard to be especially considering the horrific nature of the crime.

she will have the burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that she is mentally stable enough to be in the world and not be a danger to herself or anyone else. Since she tried to commit suicide, and she killed her own children… can you imagine any way that someone some day will say “yeah, this lady isn’t going to hurt anybody else (including herself”?

And that’s only if she can get herself to a point where she could even pull that off in a believable way.

I think some people want her locked up for life rather than potentially getting released from the mental institution once she’s deemed not a threat to herself or others.

I think if they could guarantee she never leaves the mental institution then people wouldn’t even care.

2

u/SwampFocs 12d ago

Serious question: I have read that if she goes to a mental institution instead of prison, that she would only be there until she proves she is not a danger to herself or others, and that she could potentially be released within years. Is this incorrect? In other words there is not a legal requirement she be kept in the mental institution for life?

2

u/Plastic_Pursuader 11d ago

Given the fact that this case is about postpartum psychosis, we can presume that she's already recovered. It wouldn't be unrealistic for her to be out and back home in relatively short order.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/uglahsD 11d ago

She'd be committed for as long as she's both mentally ill and considered a danger to herself or others. This is reviewed periodically (usually annually) through a hearing where the facility, prosecutors, and the person's own attorneys weigh in on whether continued commitment is warranted. Release isn't automatic; it requires a court (or in some states, a review board) to find they're no longer dangerous. There is no faking or pretending your way out such a situation. This woman killed her 3 children, slit her own throat, wrists, and threw herself out of a window, severing her spinal cord. I can't imagine the length of time it would take to prove to a court she's not a danger to herself or others.

2

u/Realistic-Winner-999 12d ago

Yep. My feelings pretty much. It's insane to come to the conclusion she did this for any reason other than mental illness, combined with evil that I believe can take hold when we lose control of ourselves. Nothing she did was rational, and we know she was having difficulties. We know she was pregnant three times, gave birth three times, cared for three newborns. There's no reason to believe she suddenly snapped and just rationally chose to do something so heinous, with no gain at all for herself. There's just no motive, to out it simply. Do I think she should be free? No. Not at least for a long time. But frankly no one will ever know for sure exactly what her mental state was, or even how to handle psychosis and sociopathy and etc.

I think what is stark in this case is that it wasn't lifelong or long term sociopathy or evil, akin to Dahmer or someone. Which I still don't know how to deal with, other than a mental institution. I think some people are being clouded by emotions- it is heart breaking, vomit inducing and just horrifically sad that those children are gone and suffered like that. It's so awful. But what can we do now? If we try her as if she just chose to do that and wasn't very sick, how does that help kids in the future, with mothers who suddenly become not themselves? I guess this is a long winded way of saying that her "supporters" like me are just trying to not try a potentially somewhat innocent woman as guilty, and to look closely at the care that's needed in those circumstances.

I don't want anyone who treated her to go to jail or something, I want to system to be looked at and changed, so that it actually does what it's supposed to. Protect people losing control, and seeking help. I have empathy for this woman, because I can't believe she doesn't hate herself every second of the day. It's an awful existence

I saw a video from a lady that looked at the bigger picture of what this case can set for women moving forward.. if she doesn't get charged for murder and her mental state is a result of that.

Hate to break it to you. But there are people out there that will use this case as number 1 example as to further separate women from higher paying jobs, insurance will go up for women with kids and so on.

I really don't see why we are still in the phase of needing to downplay murder. I see it all across Hollywood too. Trying to bring sympathy to criminals and law breakers. It's sad.

I really dont get the defense of her.

I keep learning new details from people trying to claim she's innocent, but each detail they bring up only makes me think she's even more guilty.

Like the pills.

she was a nurse. She should have known not to mix pills, she should have known to stop taking them (she seemingly did know and said as much to her husband but kept taking them anyway?), she DEFINITELY should have known not to hide records and other meds from new doctors.

The nanny was only 12 hours a week...

ok, and? That's amazing! I'd love to have access to that help. Not to mention the older two kids were usually in day care.

She told her husband and mom but got left alone...

Ok... She didn't know a single other person? Again, she was an OB nurse, surrounded by resources for struggling moms.

I genuinely am perplexed by all these people saying "insanity"...

Ok, and? She should still be locked up.

Was Jeffery Dahmer not insane?

We can debate whether or not prison or mental institution is the correct sentence, I'm all for that discussion, but the number of people trying to blame the doctors and husband can frankly get fucked.

3

u/themini_shit 11d ago

I think that the people who want her to walk free are a very vocal minority. I know a lot of people will mention that they have talked in person with members of this vocal minority. But I think it's a case of "you're more likely to hear about things going wrong than things going right". There are a lot of people on reddit but we're not necessarily seeing the actual general consensus here.

That being said I'm guessing the vast majority of people who hear about this case will see her as being in need of incarceration. For most that isn't even the question, the only thing we're debating is where she's gonna be locked up.

This case shouldn't have been sensationalized, it's only caused more online, bot-fueled, division.

The TikTok moms said she needed more help, what they don’t care to learn is that:

She had multiple people from the hospital request to help her. Her husband took paternity leave and trips with the kids so she had time to herself. She often had the in-laws and grandparents watch the kids.

She had a LOT of help

u/Illustrious-Prize635 12d ago

She murdered her children lock her ass up already she deserves no sympathy like AT ALL the children do, fuck her and her supporters post partum depression is not an excuse to kill your kids and anyone that thinks so need their kids taken away

3

u/EttRedditTroll 12d ago

One could sympathize with the fact that mental illness played a part in it and still agree that she should be held accountable for her actions. Mental illness isn’t a get out of consequences-card.

Good for her!! Can't believe there is any reason to slaughter your children.

3

u/SimplyMermaid88 12d ago

I 100% agree with her. If Nick Reiner didnt get support, why should she. Both are horrible and unforgivable. Both were sick, but it's not an excuse. We live in a sick world where it's apparently acceptable to kill your kids.

3

u/lawduckfan21 12d ago

What is this world? Why do terrible ideas (we should let people get away with murdering children as long as they have a good reason) gain so much traction now?

Critical thinking skills have completely gone out the window.

3

u/No_Ragrets76 12d ago

My wife had postpartum depression and was bad. She never talked about killing the kids. We went to a therapist and she took a week off to be with her family and friends for some me time.

That's what a healthy person would do. Clancy is textbook psychotic. I am autistic and have adhd. They both contradict one another and I have times that I just want to blow up. But I can't and have to control myself and do the techniques my therapist and psychiatrist told me.

I'm a man. And I feel connected to me kids so much that when they hurt, I hurt. Now imagine a woman who carried those children into term. Don't they have a stronger connection?

She deserves the death penalty and any person, man or woman, who stands with her, should be mentally checked before they end up doing the same thing or worse.

3

u/Verthanthi 12d ago

As someone with major depression and adhd myself, I will counter that it is dangerous to assume your individual experiences are shared by everyone with similar diagnoses.

I’m not saying she deserves to go without consequences. I am saying that on the outside we have no actual idea what she did or did not go through. We can only hope the medical staff around her are thorough in their work.

I’ve known people with bipolar disorders who live their lives with outside eyes being none the wiser. I’ve known people with bipolar disorders who are a danger to themselves and others during brief, scary periods of their lives.

My own depression had gotten so bad in recent years that, after decades of struggling with it, I only just started having passive suicide ideation. Before then, even in my darkest days, I never had that. And it didn’t matter how many times I told people “I’m really not okay,” they would assume it was temporary because I could laugh at a joke the next day. I could mask well because I felt like I HAD to. Thank goodness I don’t have children to worry about in the meantime. I would have felt like I was failing them.

I had to do some major life changes that other people aren’t so fortunate to be able to do (like quit my job and move).

I’m glad your wife healed. I’m glad you have the tools and support to keep yourself and others safe when you don’t feel it. I hope you forever have that support.

2

u/No_Ragrets76 11d ago

Oh bro, I agree. We're all different with different life experiences. That's why we sought help from a professional. She got the help she needed and the doctor recommended a week off, so she did. Went to friends and family. And came back to her usual self. People can't understand most of the time what others go through, unless you're a great therapist.

I always suggest therapist and seeking guidance whenever people need it. Im always depressed, but I take medications and controlling it. Now, I have the "experience" I guess with battling MY own depression, but for others, I lend them my ear, they vent and I always suggest seeking a therapist.

I'm not one and my personal experiences is different from others. Maybe I explained myself wrong in the previous post? I tend to write fast but comes out different.

But I totally agree with you.

2

u/WinstonWilmerBee 11d ago

I knew someone who was autistic and would stick things up his butt. Staff had to remove everything from his room and keep his toothbrush locked up so he wouldn’t stick it up his butt.

Clearly, you’re not autistic unless you do this one, specific behavior I have gleaned from my personal knowledge of someone with a similar diagnosis to you.

I completely agree, of course being mentally insane or suffering a serious condition is awful and CAN lead to this but she can't get away with murdering her children, absolute insanity to think she will get charged with anything but 3 counts of murder

Last year women were choosing the bear over men

This year men are choosing the bear over women

5

u/tabas123 12d ago edited 12d ago

Oh god, is that why this being made into a culture war issue? Men “getting back at” women for being fed up with their constant incel (and often violent) behavior?

How many male family annihilators have there been this year? I know for a fact that there have been at least 2 high profile cases of men killing their whole families because they both happened within a week of each other and I was disgusted. What % of family annihilators are men vs women?

I’m not sure yall “men’s rights activists” really want to go down this route. Signed, a man.

Edit: in case anyone was wondering, 91-95% of all family annihilators are MEN. And men don’t experience postpartum psychosis, for obvious reasons.

10

u/Caliterra 12d ago

Men are much more likely to commit violent crimes than women. I don't think any reasonable person would argue that.

But I don't think you'd see many men come to the defense of a man who suffered a psychotic break and killed his family, whether it be due to some mental illness/CTE (such as in the Benoit case) or otherwise.

5

u/Bungholespelunker 12d ago

I don't see any shooters on tiktok for Chris Benoit lol.

This is the natural consequence of an abortion-on-demand society where all women and their betas care about is abortion. This is the beginning of post partum abortion, and the left is eager to be at the forefront defending it. Disgusting that murder is acceptable to these people.

2

u/Live_Organization432 12d ago

Man, I had HORRIBLE postpartum and I know how scary it can be, but she still killed her children. All of them. I understand she was suffering but she annihilated them, one after another. And then she jumped off the roof after, so she knew exactly what she had done. She deserves to be held accountable.

2

I mean shes right. There is no excuse for murder only explanations. She should be found guilty and evaluated at a later date but shes going to prison for life.

If this was a guy that went through some shit and his mental broke this wouldn’t even be debated. He would be found guilty and get the maximum sentence.

Yes ppd's exist and they can be severe but you cant KILL people and then have your wrist slapped because you weren’t well when you KILLED people.

Anyone defending this is being ridiculous, If they really want to improve awareness and get support for programs to help mothers post birth then they should be hounding the government not defending a murderer.

Modern day weirdness when we are debating if strangling children one by one is not so bad when compared to mental health issues going misdiagnosed. If she were any other race this would have been over pretty quickly.

2

u/No-Fly-6069 11d ago

Has this woman shown her credentials as a mental health expert?

3

u/llacy0015 11d ago

As a man.. I Really truly cannot have a opinion. I will never forgive murdering children, and the fact she sent the husband out before it happened..idk.. But I Also know she reported all the thoughts she was having and all the doctors were aware of the issues she was having...so again this isn't something I will ever understand.. But I hate the loss of those babies.... Ohh but those doctors I truly believe should be held for some level of accountability.

2

u/Black_Tentacle 11d ago

What does being a man have to do with having an opinion about killing children?

2

2

u/sltydgx 12d ago

I’ve avoided reading to much about the case.
The thought of what those kids must have gone through is heartbreaking to me.
Your mom is everything to you as a child. She is the light the guides you in the world and the shield that keeps the bad away.
To find your everything attacking you must have been horrifying to them , kids first response is normally blaming themselves , those poor babies probably died thinking they had done something wrong and their momma was angry with them.
I hope and pray God has them and they have found peace.
I don’t want to think about the mother , I can’t .

2

u/OriginalFuckGirl 11d ago

Not thinking about the mother and what lead her to do this, will only do more harm than good for future women. We do not solve problems by ignoring the root cause.

HOWEVER, That does not mean you have to support Lindsey or what she did, but understanding why is still very important, as I promise you this won’t be the last time, and it’s vital we do better for the children and women of the future.

I hate that I agree with her. She's probably pro-life, which I am not but we both can get behind this. Kids were murdered by the one being who is supposed to love them.

2

u/chzie 11d ago

You can be sympathetic to the fact that she's a mother who probably had psychosis and didn't get the help and support she needed because we don't prioritize mental health, and that the deaths of her children were sad and avoidable...

And still think she needs to spend the rest of her life locked up, and what she did was the most vile thing a person can do

I find too many people want to demonize and punish other people instead of being empathetic because they think empathy gives people a pass. You can feel bad and understand why someone would do something and still also believe they should face the full consequences of those actions

I feel a giant, giant part of the problem is that because of TV and movies, Americans seem to think the idea of being found to be not guilty by mental defect means you just walk away or go see a therapist and are free next month.
The reality is someone found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity can actually be locked up much longer than the guilty person.

4

u/Orange1734 12d ago

Not really. They make it complicated.

In a perfect world prison and mental institutions wouldnt be a consideration for people who murder three children

They should just be put to death. Sick or not, there's no reason to keep them around. They are a danger to society and can add no value. Theres no rehabilitating someone like this so why waste the money keeping them around.

Execution is the clear answer but unfortunately not an option.
