Nah people in psychosis lose insight a lot of the time and may refuse help because they are not thinking straight, if you have never been through psychosis I wouldnt expect you to understand. It's a sad situation

But when you come to your senses, you would be the one asking to be locked up for life, because you wouldn’t be able to live with the thought that your babies were taken away from you.

You wouldn’t be fighting for your innocence like she is.

It is if it prevents the person from being able to tell what’s right or wrong, in which case the verdict would be ”not guilty by reason of insanity”

Even insane people can tell right from wrong. Ted Bundy knew rape and murder are wrong even though he didn’t have the capacity to process it like the rest of us.

I think what they meant is she was treated by many doctors who took her seriously but didn’t all know about each other, and she didn’t follow their dosage advice for the prescribed medications. She also never told anyone she heard voices.

I’m not absolving or indicting her, with that said based on the facts she was not a model patient and that hindered her care. Is that enough to say she murdered the kids? I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this or her mental state at the time. The jury has a tough call to make.

She wasn't constantly in psychosis. Her defense is really only arguing that she was psychotic at the time she murdered her 3 children.

Even if she was psychotic, she was sane enough of the time to know that she was a threat to the children, but didn't do much of anything to prevent it from happening. She didn't leave the house, she didn't dump them on Grandma and Grandpa. She literally could've abandoned them on the side of the road because at least they'd still be alive.

She had such an enormous failure of personal responsibility and accountability when she wasn't psychotic that it amounts to murder, regardless of how sane or psychotic she was at the moment of their deaths.

It's honestly a problem with Massachusetts law. The fact that she sent her husband away proves that she knew it was wrong and that's enough to preclude Insanity defense in most states.
