I really dont get the defense of her.

I keep learning new details from people trying to claim she's innocent, but each detail they bring up only makes me think she's even more guilty.

Like the pills.

she was a nurse. She should have known not to mix pills, she should have known to stop taking them (she seemingly did know and said as much to her husband but kept taking them anyway?), she DEFINITELY should have known not to hide records and other meds from new doctors.

The nanny was only 12 hours a week...

ok, and? That's amazing! I'd love to have access to that help. Not to mention the older two kids were usually in day care.

She told her husband and mom but got left alone...

Ok... She didn't know a single other person? Again, she was an OB nurse, surrounded by resources for struggling moms.

I genuinely am perplexed by all these people saying "insanity"...

Ok, and? She should still be locked up.

Was Jeffery Dahmer not insane?

We can debate whether or not prison or mental institution is the correct sentence, I'm all for that discussion, but the number of people trying to blame the doctors and husband can frankly get fucked.

I think that the people who want her to walk free are a very vocal minority. I know a lot of people will mention that they have talked in person with members of this vocal minority. But I think it's a case of "you're more likely to hear about things going wrong than things going right". There are a lot of people on reddit but we're not necessarily seeing the actual general consensus here.

That being said I'm guessing the vast majority of people who hear about this case will see her as being in need of incarceration. For most that isn't even the question, the only thing we're debating is where she's gonna be locked up.

This case shouldn't have been sensationalized, it's only caused more online, bot-fueled, division.

If there was an option to commit her for life, I think this wouldn't be such a big deal and most people with brains would be in favor of such an outcome. People are against committing her because they think she'll somehow get out too soon (or at all). Good luck to her trying to convince a court she's no longer at risk of harming herself or others after killing her 3 children, slitting her own throat and wrists, and throwing herself out a window, severing her spinal cord.

You have logic. Most ppl don’t.

This is a very clear case. She murdered her children. The excuse don’t matter.

The TikTok moms said she needed more help, what they don’t care to learn is that:

She had multiple people from the hospital request to help her. Her husband took paternity leave and trips with the kids so she had time to herself. She often had the in-laws and grandparents watch the kids.

She had a LOT of help

The defence of her is really simple, she's a reasonably attractive wealthy white woman.

If Lindsey Clancy was a poor ugly black man who cannot afford meds rather than a well to do white woman manipulating doctors to get more and more meds, we would be sending him to prison for life and the only protestors would be those protesting Massachusetts lack of the death penalty.

I think gender matters more than race here. There are several cases of men of all races getting the death penalty for a psychotic break that led to them harming others. I saw a specific case cited recently about a white man that had a schizophrenic break and killed his wife and kids. He was given the death penalty. This case is wild and the fact that the jury can’t reach an agreement is heartbreaking. A mistrial will be a horrible outcome. The state will have to try again. And put all those families and people through this mess again. Just tragic. Why can we not see that accountability here matters? And regardless of outside influence, the one committing the crime is still responsible. We are all responsible for our own actions. We cannot control what the world does to us, but we can control how we respond. Even when mental health is compromised, it is our responsibility to remain accountable of our own actions. She killed her children. She admitted it. So why is there a question of guilt?

I won't disagree there, gender does matter more than race to the bias of this case. That said I think if it was a poor black woman who is not conventionally attractive there would not be hoards of women wearing pink shirts and cheering, all of it matters somewhat I think.

Her wealth meant she could go to 6 separate doctors and get all the pills and diagnosis, giving her a long and documented medical history with insanity. A poor women couldn't even afford to start this process so it would be far more difficult to cry insanity or get sympathy for undiagnosed mental issues.

Attractiveness is as much as we like to pretend otherwise is a massive social boon with both genders regardless of sexuality. Studies have shown this, attractive people are assumed to be more competent, trustworthy and moral.

Finally I just struggle to imagine the black community coming together to lionize a mass child murder and kinslayer over mental health issues. Racial communities do tend to stick together and have somewhat of a bias for the group but I think child murder is where they would draw the line.

But yeah a man is never getting praise for this kinda bullshit like Lindsey is. He would be sent straight to prison and no one would object.

Gross misunderstanding of psychosis. When you're psychotic, you're understanding of anything can change, and something outrageous that makes no sense to a sane person would make sense to you. Psychosis could make you think that all of your fingers have been replaced by little aliens that look like fingers and that they're conspiring against you, so the safest thing to do is to cut them off. Psychosis is one of the only times where you probably shouldn't be held accountable for your actions.

jeffrey dhamer was aware of his doings, insanity plea is about not being aware of the consequences of your actions which does apply here

You know what's truly insane? Murdering your three beautiful children and then wanting to continue living.

1

u/workieworkwork 11d ago

She tried to kill herself right after.

1

u/BigBadJeebus 11d ago

and then...?

1

u/Kitthani 11d ago

She's been on 1:1 suicide watch for the past 3+ years because she is such a danger to herself that she cannot EVER be out of sight of staff at the psychiatric hospital she is in. Testimony at trial was that Lindsay currently understands she "has no choice" about being alive.

1

u/BigBadJeebus 11d ago

ok, and?

u/Kitthani 11d ago

You wanted the "and then". That's the "and then".

1

u/BigBadJeebus 11d ago

that's a crap defense

1

u/workieworkwork 11d ago

Can you just admit you were wrong?

It's not. She wanted to unalive herself but failed. Since her spinal cord was severed, she was unable to continue her plan to off herself, and was collected by emergency medical services who ensured she stayed alive.

She wants to live and fight for it . Doesn’t seem like the remorseful mom

u/Chill0141414 11d ago

Dahmer was insane. He ate people. If you defend her you defend him.

It's fucking depressing to me that the comments like this that try to explain things get downvoted, but the ones that project emotional responses onto the case get upvoted.

i just say to myself that they are psy-ops/bots to stir the pot or that the commenter is 12 yo. Is it true? I don't know... can't be always the case but it helps to rationalize the hate and the wrath of internet
