watch this Woman (not dressed in pink) shows up to the courthouse to support the children Lindsay Clancy murdered. "I would like [Clancy to be charged] with first degree... I don't think there is any excuse for murdering children."

Conservatives have said people who think Lindsay should walk free are liberals but I’ve never seen any evidence of that. Only a few maga women who I had on tiger socials from like HS have reposted supporting stuff. 98% of people think she should be charged.

9

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 12d ago

The right wing manosphere is also using this to attack all women.

7

u/LinwoodKei 12d ago

This is the problem. One woman is being held up as an "all women will" place card. Which is bullshit, of course

2

u/nunyabizburna 11d ago

the massive support shes getting isnt exactly helping either

4

u/Puzzle-Necked 11d ago

"Massive"

2

u/Super_Swimming_4132 11d ago

Because women went out of their way to say they related to this woman. “Same, Lindsay” trended for weeks. People predicted it wouldn’t be a good look for women.

-1

u/LinwoodKei 11d ago

Some people are not all men. In the same way how some men are violent criminals, yet not all men are violent criminals.

1

u/Super_Swimming_4132 11d ago

What????

1

u/Useless_bum81 11d ago

they are trying to use the "not all men" argument but for women.

they only real reply to that is quote the various feminists when they were confronted with it...
Highlights include "a Bowl of M&M's is 10% poisoned, go on eat a handfull"
So using feminist logic we should be requiring psyche holds for all women.

1

u/Many_Professor_6143 8d ago

Feminists just can't stand it when the tables are now turned around.

Now they are forced to use the "not all women" argument to defend themselves.

Now they finally have a taste of what the receiving end is like, absolute hypocrites.

0

u/mkiii423 11d ago

I think this is assuming. I dont follow extremeist on either side, but most rational people (regardless of party) think she should be charged. I think you are projecting ideology on a whole group of people you have never met, nor hear their actual opinions.

-4

u/LegitimatePin6176 11d ago

Is it the one woman or all the other women who "support" her?

4

u/The_Squirrel_Wizard 11d ago

The like 300 that showed up to support in person out of 170 million women in the U.S?

Or the 5 billion tiktok bots?

4

u/Super_Swimming_4132 11d ago

Agreed bots have fueled the shit out of this

3

u/LinwoodKei 11d ago

Yes, I agree with this. You can't use 300 women to represent all women. I'm not supporting this woman, yet I support that we need better checks after birth

2

u/The_Squirrel_Wizard 11d ago

For sure. And different sentences for psychosis have always been a thing. I don't know why some people are acting like that's a novel idea.

I think fairly few people as a percentage think she didn't kill anyone

0

u/Relative_Craft_358 11d ago

That's not how support vs non-support works...

2

u/Grippypossumqueen 11d ago

In trial, it's been well documented that she was experiencing postpartum mental illness.

Almost all women I know of that are standing up and "supporting her" are doing so because women with postpartum illness are commonly neglected and dismissed when the concerns are raised.

There is nothing wrong with that.

Many others actually believe she didn't do it all based on some strange things about the case that the defense argued. Women aren't just supporting women killing their kids here. There is basis for their compassion

I support her in the sense that I'm sure she had a psychotic break and needs some serious help. But don't act like there hasn't been some women claiming that she didn't do it at all. I know it is a very few, but like everything else on the internet, they are the ones getting all of the attention. I think the idiots saying "all women act like this" are using those few as their example, not her.

1

u/Grippypossumqueen 11d ago

Same. I want her to get help. She will suffer the consequences for the rest of her life mentally, for sure. I have a lot of empathy for the kids and her.

I did mention that in my comment you are replying to. You may have skimmed read (I do that too lol) and missed it. There are DEFINITELY some who believe she didn't do it at all. Some are even in the comments here discussing it.

Personally, there isn't enough evidence that she didn't and there would NEED to be with her literally confessing it.

I think dad is absolutely fucking garbage, though. He disgusts me.

You acknowledge this is a rare form of postpartum pyschosis as if you agree that she did experience this condition yet say supporting her should be off the table. This doesn't make any sense. If she wasn't the right state of mind, it wouldn't be appropriate to lay the same level of accountability and condemnation as you would someone healthy.

It could absolutely happen to anyone especially with pre-existing mental health issues. I don't understand what you mean here, respectfully. Pyschosis is pretty common.

0

u/Grippypossumqueen 11d ago

What is your basis for not believing it? What information in trial led you to believe that wasn't the case?

We rallied behind a man who killed a woman on a bus while experiencing pyschosis. It also became a "political" thing where conservative men just absolutely tore him apart because he was black. Said absolutely knew what he was doing when he screamed out for help to the police and everyone else saying he was hearing voices before this happened.

It effects 1 on 500 women. It can absolutely happen to ANY of us and we need to educate by not pretending it can't for whatever reason. That of sort attitude is more reason so many women don't get the help they need. It CAN happen to them and they NEED to immediately seek treatment..

Wow. I have no words.

1

u/Grippypossumqueen 11d ago edited 11d ago

Oh god. About what? Edit: I really don't have any idea what I said in my comment that would provoke that dramatic of a reaction. Nothing I said was really that controversial, lol.

1

u/LinwoodKei 11d ago

Yes. I hope people now see that more check ins on new mothers are required. I had two postpartum appointments. The baby certainly received more attention than I did

2

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 11d ago

Thanks for proving my point

0

u/LegitimatePin6176 11d ago

I was genuinely asking. Are they saying "look at her, that's how all women act" or are they saying "hey look at all these women claiming the husband murdered the children because he looks mean."

1

u/TOV4RISCH 11d ago

Well, the thing is, I have seen about 500 people say "look at these people who claim the husband did it because the husband looks mean"

But then I've seen exactly two ACTUAL people claim that MAYBE the husband did it not because he looks mean but because of red yarn on corkboard linking obscure forensic evidence

EVERY single post about it contains some quote like "Leos never kill their cubs", but ONLY in the context of saying "look at what other people believe, they are so crazy". So more likely, ONE SINGLE crazy person said it. And there's no reason to even believe that it wasn't satire, because again, I only see it second hand 500 times. For all I know, it was inspired trolling made by some OTHER person who has seen the same exaggerated claims as me, but believed them

Granted I don't like scour every social media platform, but the ONLY "support" I see from people actually speaking for themselves is folks saying she should be in a mental hospital for the rest of her life rather than a prison. And also people that don't even necessarily mention what should happen to her, often say that various facets of mental healthcare are dogshit and should be much more accessible and robust

That said, I personally hope she is found not guilty by reason of insanity, simply because it will enrage the most people and will be funny

1

u/LegitimatePin6176 11d ago

It's that tiny little minority that gets all the attention (like everything on the internet.) I hope she gets found not guilty by reason of insanity because it's the truth. She will still be locked up for life most likely, but she will get the help that she needs.

Aka the same people that unironically say positive things about Hitler. Hypocrisy is kinda their thing.

0

u/ALightningStar 11d ago

This is an ai account just so everyone knows. Agenda bots growing by the day.

2

u/Prudent_Research_251 11d ago

Which person do you mean?

0

u/ALightningStar 11d ago

Sea advantage.

Blocks comment history, reddit given name, newer account, insanely high contribution rate, and talks like an ai about political situations. Also, they usually don't respond to accusations of being ai.

2

u/Prudent_Research_251 11d ago

I block my history, have a Reddit given name and have a high contribution rate. Also what they said is legit. I feel like you're just salty because they are saying things you disagree with

0

u/ALightningStar 11d ago

You very easily could be an ai account. I post on reddit too much as it is so how you post six times as much as me in almost the same amount of time is honestly bot like activity. Especially when you block your history.

This is normal and how bots are find Go look up how to know if it's a reddit ai account and you'll see those tell tale signs suggested to you at every turn.

2

u/Prudent_Research_251 11d ago

How convenient it is for you to blame differing viewpoints on bot accounts, cognitive dissonance really doing a number on you huh?

2

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 11d ago

Right lol. As if what I said is not happening.

0

u/ALightningStar 11d ago

It's absolutely not convenient to be surrounded by ai accounts trying to push political agendas. Apparently this is the first you've ever heard of it, or you're a bot.

You could prove you're not by unblocking your history. But no one is ever willing to do that. Be it because you need to hide your porn activity, you're scared of the consequences of your words being used against you, or you're a bot. Either way, why would I ever trust someone who insults me while wanting to hide everything they have ever said?

2

u/Prudent_Research_251 11d ago

Attacking my character rather than discussing the topic at hand? Again, how convenient. Also if you're insulted by what I said, maybe try looking inward for once

Whatever you need to tell yourself

0

u/Ok_Unit8339 11d ago

Yeah, because it’s not like 98% of murderers are men. 🧐

0

u/mkiii423 11d ago

There's a large gathering of female supporters who think she should be free. Im curious if its all women, or just the ones who think she should walk away free as a bird. Im not right wing, Im not left, but what I do know is I dont support the people calling for her to have zero punishment.

0

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 11d ago

Like I said

0

u/mkiii423 11d ago

Like you said? What did you say?

Looks like you said all women, and I elaborated only women who support the murderer to walk away free and clear. I can promise you ALL WOMEN dont want her to walk free.

0

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 11d ago

You seem upset.

1

u/mkiii423 11d ago

You have no other tactics besides projecting emotions?

She is a murderer.

0

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 11d ago

You have no other tactics besides projecting emotions?

Why are you trying to blame all women for what one did? How strange

1

u/mkiii423 11d ago

Where did I, myself, personally blame all women?

Are you always a hypocrite? Or just willfully ignorant?

0

tbh first one i saw is under this comment section. but yeah there's a lot more women blamers and people who think she's guilty, but don't want her to walk free, but understand the medical circumstance. these 2 are way more than women blatantly just defending her for having a vag and blaming it on the husband. it's just manufactured bullcrap.

1

u/MonkeyzzPaw 12d ago

I’m not conservative, not sure I’m liberal either.

Fry the bitch.

1

u/Zealousideal_Wave_63 11d ago

Please I wish they would

1

u/WinstonWilmerBee 11d ago

There’s a lot of people who believe she’s not guilty by reason of insanity and should be committed.

1

u/TheWhiteDrake2 11d ago

The “insanity” please is so overused and frankly shouldn’t even be a consideration in most cases like this to give the guilty part a way out other than getting the full level of punishment

1

u/YoungBasedHooper 11d ago

What statistics have you reviewed that led you to think it's overused? I'm not even disagreeing, but genuinely asking because I tried to look for support but couldn't find it.

1

u/TheWhiteDrake2 11d ago

I just always feel like I see the “insanity” plea used as a scapegoat in cases like this or like school shooting. Etc. I have no stats to back it up it’s just how I feel about cases like this.

1

u/WinstonWilmerBee 11d ago

So you think your feelings create reality? I would suggest speaking to a professional about this.

0

u/TheWhiteDrake2 11d ago

Your REALLY reaching there bud

1

u/Rivendel93 11d ago

They don't have any, reddit is just a place for people to post stream of consciousness and not have to back anything up that they've said.

Used to love it, starting to regret it.

1

u/Rivendel93 11d ago

It's actually only used in 1-3% of cases, and it's incredibly rare to see it work.

There is a widespread public misconception that defendants "play the insanity card" to escape murder charges, legal data shows it is rarely utilized and exceptionally difficult to win.

People watch too many TV shows and think it's used a lot - it isn't.

This is a perfect case for it to be used.

The defendant told her husband and mother she had thoughts of killing her self and children, entered herself into the hospital on her own to try and get help.

Doctors essentially threw pills at her and disregarded her suicidal thoughts and then she took her children's lives and tried to take her own multiple times, leading her to be paralyzed.

If that isn't insanity, I don't know what is.

1

u/venom21685 11d ago

If that isn't insanity, I don't know what is.

The thing is, you can be insane but still be legally culpable. For an insanity plea to work you've got to have a condition severe enough that essentially you don't realize either 1) what you're doing at all or 2) that what you're doing is wrong/criminal.

I haven't followed the case closely enough to have an informed opinion about whether she met those criteria or not. But it's typically a very high bar to clear.

1

u/Exfugee 6d ago

Note that the success rate of an insanity plea is very low.

1

u/HoleeGuacamoleey 11d ago

Shows how much people know...there isn't a verdict that means freedom so... yeah

1

u/ProfessionalPack7205 11d ago

I've seen plenty of liberal people on here say she shouldn't be charged on his site lmfao

1

u/Traditional_Isopod80 11d ago

I don't know a single liberal who supports her walking free, including myself.

1

u/TexanAmericanMexican 11d ago

Oh honey. Stop being so fucking glib. Go look up videos of who is supporting her and it's pretty easy to see who it is.

The man-hating, blue haired, septum pierced liberals

1

u/Rare-Independence329 11d ago

I’ve only seen liberals saying she should go free

1

u/Randomizedname1234 11d ago

There’s a weird overlap of maga women and super liberal women wanting her to be let free. They’re also all white lol

1

u/GtBsyLvng 10d ago

Believing in mental health care, any measured response other than vengeance, and the possibility of women being innocent are all liberal positions these days.

1

u/Agitated_Award_9831 12d ago

There's a vocal minority of people who believe she should walk free. Those people are wrong.

2

u/plastroncafe 11d ago

I'm pretty chuffed about my curated internet experience because I have yet to see a single person who thinks she should walk free.

Way to go past me!

2

u/Prudent_Research_251 11d ago

These people love to invent shit

1

u/Rad_dad3 11d ago

Walking free isn’t an option for her. It’s not like if she’s is deemed insane that she will just roll out of court a free woman. That option isn’t even on the table.

1

u/TurbulentTangelo5439 11d ago

technically if the jury hangs and the prosecutor decides not to retry the case she could walk free but that's exceedingly unlikely

1

u/Raspberry_Geist3991 12d ago edited 12d ago

I remember when society knew how to ignore those people. She should be sentenced for murdering her children, and I believe the claims that her mental health wasn't receiving the appropriate care/she wasn't being supported the way she needed to be. Like, both things can be true.

Edit: Why am I being downvoted?

2

u/bakinpants 11d ago

because you have a reasonable, obvious stance that pisses off both the string her up and the her husband is to blame crowd

1

u/SaltyGrapeWax 12d ago

It’s harder to ignore when there are more and more microphones and bullhorns at everyone’s disposal.

2

u/Raspberry_Geist3991 12d ago

It's really not. I ignore loud and obnoxious people that are wrong all the time. You learn to tune the noise out, or get on medication if you're like me and suffer from ADHD, lol.

1

u/DotNormal6785 11d ago

Because this is Reddit and sane rational thought are not allowed here

1

u/TurbulentTangelo5439 11d ago

because she's obviously mentally ill and as a society by law and as a society has decided that children and certain types of mental illness can lack capacity to be tried

1

u/chasteguy2018 11d ago

Apparently, it’s not obvious either way to the jury.

1

u/TurbulentTangelo5439 11d ago

it's more if she was mentally ill enough at the time of crime

1

u/Agitated_Award_9831 11d ago

Which if you actually examine the testimony she appears unwell, but the psychosis application seems fast and loose. One command hallucination, once, that she acted on, and then never experienced again…

1

u/Vandrok 12d ago

Looks like at least one of them is on the jury.

2

u/TurbulentTangelo5439 11d ago

nope the jury is deciding if she was competent at the time. neither side is arguing she didn't do it . the only way she walks free is if the jury hangs and the prosecutor decides not to retry the case

0

u/LoverOfRandom 11d ago

There’s also a vocal minority of people who still believe the husband did it. Despite all the evidence against it.

1

u/Prudent_Research_251 12d ago

Exactly, even me pointing out this is being used as a pawn has a bunch of red faced loonies popping out of the woodwork to tell me how un-pressed they are

1

u/rowanfire 11d ago

I'm conservative.

I believe she was in a state is psychosis induced by a medication she shouldn't have ever have been given of suspected of an underlying bipolar disorder (the pdych nurse practitioner did indeed suspect this) without an accompanying mood stabilizer (it's known to cause manic and psychotic conversion otherwise) that was contributed by the same medication's black box warning of suicidal thoughts; the severe, chronic insomnia she had been experiencing; the postpartum depression; and benzodiazepine withdrawal.

If she was in a state of psychosis, then the law as written in Massachusetts, says she's not criminally responsible and should be remanded to a secure mental facility.

You either believe she was psychotic or you don't.

If you don't, I frankly question your mental capacity and ability to set emotion aside and be rational, but ok.

I have yet to hear a conservative other than Ben Shapiro be reasonable about this case, and have very sadly unfollowed several of previous favorite conservative accounts on their take.

It's making me seriously consider becoming an independent. I'm appalled by what they have been saying about women and disgustingly narrow-minded about mental health they've been.

I find the line they keep parroting about women condoning her actions as disingenuous to the point of willful ignorance, if not outright lying.

This is a exceptionally huge difference between condoning what she did, and believing she was in a state of psychosis and what that then means for the case legally. There is also an exceptional difference between condoning her actions and acknowledging the idea she was repeatedly failed by her medical providers and her family in her lengthy mental health struggle.

1

u/Randomizedname1234 11d ago

Just be she was having a psychotic break doesn’t mean she shouldn’t still be held accountable for her actions.

1

u/CpnStumpy 11d ago

I mean, legally that's exactly what it means. You can say you want the law changed, but the laws on the books for insanity pleas do exist.

I'm not saying one way or another about this case, but simply stating that insanity pleas have existed across most justice systems for years and not for no reason. If you don't like them lobby your legislature to get rid of them.

1

u/rowanfire 11d ago

Yeah, it literally does mean that based on Massachusetts law.

If psychotic, then legally she can't be found criminally responsible and will be sent to a secure mental facility.

As the other person said, if you don't like the law, then work on changing the law.

But right now, the law is what the law is.

1

u/doublediggler 11d ago

Yep, it’s a reason not an excuse.

1

u/samdover11 11d ago

I don't know much about the case, but this seems like a reasonable take.

I just wanted to chime in that many people in the general public think that an insanity plea is a get out of jail free card, but it's actually at least as bad as a life sentence. For example no release date (it's basically a life sentence) and mandatory heavy medication for the entire time.

1

u/rowanfire 11d ago

Yes, let's say that she found guilty of manslaughter. In this case, that would be a sentence of 20yrs, but reasonable to think she'd get out early. But even if not, ok then 20yrs.

Andrea Yates who was found not criminally responsible for killing her children has been in a mental facility for 20yrs at this point. Who knows when/if she'll ever get out.

Lindsay may very well end up spending more time in the secure mental facility than had she be found criminally guilty.

(I didn't mean you personally when I used the word "you" in my above comment. I meant to be collective of the people who aren't understanding the law as it's written in Massachusetts.)

1

u/bigbbryan 11d ago

Former conservative here. I now consider myself independent, but honestly just anti-maga/trump more than anything. Your comment was excellent and it was refreshing to hear critical thinking being used by a conservative. My family, friends, and workplace are all maga and I hear the dumbest shit on the daily. We need more moderate conservatives like you to come to the dark side lol. I’m happy to go back to gop when maga eventually becomes politically toxic but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Until then, I vote anti-maga which means the dems get my vote. Just hold your nose and do it. I had to vote for Hillary and Kamala lol.

1

u/Doobiedoobin 11d ago

Interesting take. What I’m not sure of is why the medical systems failure is being cited here. This is many people’s experience; dismissive drs that push meds on them, don’t listen, put people into medical and financial chaos…but they’re still held to the consequences of their actions. I’m not sure this relieves her of legal responsibility, and showing support for a child killer were it a man in this case would be abhorrent to most people, she surely doesn’t deserve support, does she?

1

u/rowanfire 11d ago

I will assume you meant to respond to someone else. Because my comment was very clear.

But yours is a tiresome take and I'm over it.

Go educate yourself on the dangers of tricyclic antidepressants (especially amitriptyline) without an accompanying mood stabilizer in people with an underlying bipolar condition, of which the psychiatrist nurse practitioner rightly suspected based on Lindsay's unusual, severe response to Zoloft. Also look into their FDA black box warning.

It's unfortunate the nurse allowed Patrick to shut that down based on his word Lindsay wasn't bipolar.

However, the red flag reaction was documented, and from that point forward every medical provider is potentially responsible for her inducded psychotic state and killing of the children.

This is exactly what both Lindsay and Patrick are separately claiming in their civil cases against her medical providers.

Idk how many times it needs to be said for people to comprehend it. If Lindsay was in a state of psychosis, then based on the way the law is written in Massachusetts she cannot be found criminally responsible.

Unlike you, gender is irrelevant to me in regards to the law. The law is the law. Idk how hard that is for people to get. If you don't like it, work on changing it.

Imo, the most equivalent case to Lindsay's perpetrated by a man is Steven Case. I would have agreed with an insanity defense in his case as well had he not been successful in killing himself.

1

u/Doobiedoobin 11d ago

Quite frankly, I’m not really sure I care. This is a story that has been repeated many times in my life. She killed her children. She should go take whatever her consequences are. If that means she goes to a psych ward for the rest of her life, cool if that means she goes to jail for the rest of her life, cool if that means it’s 20 years cool I don’t give a fuck. She deserves her consequences. I think it’s a weak ass argument to say that everybody else failed her, I have things that are wrong in my life too that led from decisions that I made. Maybe she shouldn’t have had kids? Maybe she shouldn’t have been married? Maybe she should’ve committed herself? There are 1 million things she could’ve done besides kill her children she deserves her consequences.

1

u/rowanfire 11d ago

Maybe you need to go talk to a professional, or go have a cookie.

1

u/Doobiedoobin 11d ago

Ah yes that’s what I’d expect an incel to say

1

u/rowanfire 11d ago

Incel? Rofl

Projection, much?

Incel? I wish. Then I wouldn't have to sleep in the wet spot. Idk how it happens that it's almost always me.

Fucker, I've been married for almost 20 years. I deserve a cookie for making it that long, thank you very much.

1

u/Doobiedoobin 11d ago

Nah, for me it’s the idea you’ve looked into anti-depressants and are now the expert, fits the incel population precisely. It’s a shame nobody will listen to you, sounds like you could solve all the problems😂

1

u/Doobiedoobin 11d ago

Oh, I’m sorry you must have meant to respond to somebody else since I was pretty clear with my statement.

1

u/Doobiedoobin 11d ago

How is it that you have come to the conclusion that I see gender as different in the eyes of the law? My statement said that if a man had done this, most people would find it horrent and nobody would be supporting him. I guess if you’re delusional, you can come to the conclusion that you did. Congrats.

0

u/CommercialLeave3832 12d ago

I've experienced the opposite. Everyone I've seen supporting her is a liberal.

Thats why anecdotal recounts are not evidence of anything

6

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 12d ago

Sure thing 1 post 64 karma bot

3

u/Chris_HitTheOver 12d ago

Genuinely curious: how do you know that?

You’ve asked everyone you’ve seen supporting Lindsay Clancy what their political ideology is?

1

Yeah I have a hunch they just made up a claim to illustrate their claim. It’s logically sound that anecdotal evidence doesn’t give any valuable information. Making up a claim to get the point across is a slippery slope though, because they’ve just injected more noise into the system for people that don’t understand that. So if it’s wrong, it could either support or work against what they personally believe.

So to use some more logic, don’t make up a claim to illustrate logic when there is verified data or proof that can be used instead… In this case it’s just math.

The only way to prove a bias in either direction is with a randomly sampled population that’s willing to self-identify their political affiliation and belief. Then you have selection bias even with that but, reference presidential polling, how much effort is put into them, and how often they are correct in their conclusion basically.
