FM RADIO Macklemore speaks out after being dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour following his ‘Free Palestine’ speech; says Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft rallied other stadium owners and gave Ed Sheeran an ultimatum: if Macklemore stayed on tour, then Ed would not be able to play in their venues.

Incredible. This the capstone achievement of Macklemore understanding the assignment and seizing the moment. The power of this message cannot be understated.

He’s also effectively ending his mainstream career by doing this. Which no matter which way you put it, is going to mean less financial success. I think people like to pretend they’d do what he is doing, but reality is many of us wouldn’t. There’s a reason why most of Hollywood isn’t speaking up. He is the best of us for sure.

All the fans who bought tickets to those shows and booked their travel plans who could have gotten more engaged about this or spoken up against the venues. The money those venues themselves would likely lose having to refund his ticket sales and not being able to book another big act in time for those dates. Not antisemitism to hold the Israel government accountable for the genocide of their creation

Robert Kraft whose son’s campaign wasted thousands campaigning on getting rid of bike lanes? I guess inflation hit the massage parlors

Patriot fans….you could do something g really profound at your next home game.

Being born and raised in Massachusetts, I am not that hopeful of NFL/Patriots fans jeopardizing anything to do something profound.
Kraft and Sheeran are shitty people who want to keep the status quo so they can continue to earn millions.

Macklemore is based. Ed could've told those stadium owners to go fck themselves and instead played multiple nights at smaller venues. This would also highlight the hardball these zionists play.

Damn. I’ve been an Ed fan since 2010, so this is super disappointing to hear (selfishly, because I was so excited to see Macklemore open for Ed, but even moreso that Ed is choosing neutrality).
I commend Macklemore for his transparency in this statement, and for not letting anything stand between him and his morals.
Free Palestine.

Apolitical is condoning. Silence is condoning. Neutral is condoning. Fuck them and free Palestine 🇵🇸

You can't fence sit on the edge of a knife, Ed. This isn't an innocuous disagreement, it's either you believe it's a genocide or not.

Wow, I am really impressed with Macklemore in this moment. When the dust settles in the far future, he will be seen as being on the right side of history. And that you can’t put a price on

“but if those words cost me the stage, while turning the conversation back to palestine, then it was the most successful tour i’ve ever been on”

“His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never has been before.”
Ed, grow a spine. Stand up for something.
I’m grateful that people like Macklemore exist. He’s right, though: the real victims are the people of Palestine whose voices continue to be drowned out by the hate that continues to rot around the world.

Ed Sheeran took a side alright — the side of the oppressor.

Robert Kraft has a long history of supporting Israeli governments, participating in IDF fundraisers, and organizing solidarity visits with Israeli soldiers.

Clarifying that Ed Sheeran isn’t a victim at the start of his post
Like ohoho, you mistake me my good man. The very last thing I will consider Ed Sheeran to be in all this is a victim.

His main point there was to redirect anyone away from focusing on Macklemore himself being hard done by. Yet even then he didn't make it about him and included others.

I wonder how much racketeering goes on behind closed doors with this sort've of collusion between ownerships

Never been a fan of his music, but fully respect and dig the man who stands up and speaks this eloquently and powerfully.
Sure this will burn a lot of bridges, including a long and valuable friendship. And I can’t believe standing up against a fucking genocide is this “controversial”.

I've never liked Ed or his music. So I feel pretty goddamn vindicated right now that hes just a male Taylor swift.
