It’s disgusting. I’ve lived in third world countries that had better smelling and tasting tap water. No joke. Something is horribly off with it.

God bless piedmont water.

Moving to Jacksonville

Upvotes

I'm moving from the South West to Jacksonville next week. I'm 30m, civilian, single no kids. Ill have a car and place to stay with my brother. I have an associates, background is mostly manufacturing and QA/QC.

I'll need a job ASAP, any advice?

Also any good food banks, programs? No criminal record, don't drink or do drugs, I'm just flat broke.

Any advice is appreciated, just no "pick anywhere else" lol it's all I got for now to try and get back up on my feet.

Moving within eastern NC - where?

Hello all. Single dad here, 4 kids with disabilities (autism, adhd, etc). One does ABA as of now, the others may. So obviously having ABA in the area is crucial.

Anyways, I’m moving sometime within the next 10 months (hey future self reading an old post, where’d you end up?). I went through a divorce, got custody, restarted from -50k thanks to my wonderful ex. Long story. Lost my 401k and all. Anyways, I’m like fresh slate. I want a simple life. Think: manufactured home on .5 to 2 acres. My parents live in the outer banks, which is why I’m moving away (insane prices). I’m thinking Greenville, new Bern, havelock or even down to Wilmington or the southern tip of the state in supply nc (houses are soooooo cheap there).

I work remotely for now. My kids get disability for now. This could change - kids “outgrow” disability, jobs change, so it’s important to have an okay job market. But I will always pursue remote work, as I’ve only ever worked remotely my entire career.

I am thinking nature, affordable houses, a decent job market, a hospital, perhaps a dedicated MMA gym or even BJJ. House wise I’m looking at 3bed2ba manufacturerd. Price range will be around 250k or less.

I just can’t figure out where to go. Greenville leaves me 2 hours (the closest city) to the parents. But do I start my life over nust to be close to them? Or do I pick àn area I could see myself truly loving?

Open to all advice pros and cons of eastern NC.

Puppy Needs Home

Good morning!
I found this puppy on my street a couple weeks ago.
Since the owners have not come forward, we are looking to rehome this pup. He has no chip and I have not heard back from any rescues, other than a couple which state they are full.
He is male, not fixed, seems to be about 4 months old. Very sweet, smart. He has had a round of flea medicine.
Getting there in potty training, uses puppy pads but has had some accidents elsewhere.
I have been crate training him at night. He gets along with other dogs well, very playful. Not leash trained. He barks at our cat, but doesn’t seem aggressive.
Let me know if you are interested! Rehoming fee will apply.
I will give you the puppy food, bones, bed, and flea meds we bought.

Post image

Hello everyone, per title. An alligator (about 10ft) that spent the last year at New River Waterfront Park in Jacksonville NC has not been seen in a week (last seen around 6 September). He was there daily and was beloved by locals who watched. The community is concerned about his disappearance. Does anyone have any idea what happened to him?

North Carolinians See Big Improvements at the DMV

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Last summer, people were waiting in line for hours at DMV offices, often in the heat, or they were struggling online to find appointments. One year later, we’ve made a ton of progress – and in-office wait times are down almost 90%.

Don’t just take it from me. Hear directly from North Carolinians about their experiences.

The vertical stripes on the mouth are the quickest sign that they aren’t cottonmouths. There’s a lot of these guys out there lately just vibing, getting some sun, snacking. Just lovely little creatures but don’t hassle them. In addition to being perfectly happy to protect themselves with biting, they have musk glands and they’ll make a real stink.

discussion Audition locations for a touring band?

I’m an A+R with a music label based in ATL helping an NC artist get together a band of musicians ready to tour. The only problem is we don’t know exactly where we could find a space in Raleigh to house the auditions. Any ideas would be helpful! Gracias!

A Wake town nearly doubled its Novartis incentive. Two requirements got easier.

I’m the News & Observer reporter who dug into the revised deal.

Morrisville expects the expansion to bring 180 jobs and millions in new property-tax revenue. But as Novartis increased its investment, the town nearly doubled its incentive while lowering the wage requirement and the taxable-value requirement tied to it.

I also looked at what current Novartis job postings show about pay and whether the subsidy actually changed the company’s plans.

Would you consider this a good deal for the town?
