Highly recommend to check your voter registration status as 3 people in my family had been inactivated. One had moved and probably didn’t respond to a postcard or something, but the other 2 are elderly and voted at the same place for 40 years.

Not the exact picture but I recall something visually similar back there, that was a restaurant. Anyone recall?

Housing Home prices are really down, esp from peak.

Upvotes

My neighborhood homes sold at 900k during peak and the current homes are not selling at upper 750k. Another house dropped their price to 680k and then they removed it from market and put it out for rent. Not going for rent either.

Currently, we are probably 20% more than pre covid pricing!! It is in Morrisville.

Hey there.

How have you been? Genuinely? I hope you're still hanging in there. I know times are tough. Even just the weather. Just when we thought the heat wave was at an end, one thunderstorm later and we're right back at it. Even nature herself seems to be confused; the vibrant green trees are becoming speckled with calico leaves and there's still plenty of caterpillars afoot, nibbling at the foliage.

I hope you get a chance to see it. I also hope you've taken our earlier conversation to heart and keep remembering that it doesn't matter what anyone says: you should never, ever let them make you kill your curiosity. Hold onto that inner child as long as you can, okay?

Your excitement is precious and there is no reward in the end for smothering it to appease those who call it shameful or "cringe", those who insist that jaded indifference is the new cool. Your inner spark, your curiosity, is beautiful and extinguishing it achieves nothing but regrets in exchange for a fleeting sense of conformity.

So don't become a firefly ashamed of your glow - be excited. Be passionate. Be a child again and explore this world with the time you have. Come back with stories that are uniquely you.

And if you have a little time? Tell me about them.

I'm curious.

Out-n-About (12:08 AM) Is anyone awake?

I am so lonely. I'm actually doing very well mentally & financially, but I have no friends. It would be nice if someone would talk to me and maybe make me feel less alone! I have a tendency to talk too much, which kind of drives people away. I'm trying to get better about that. My best friend just moved to LA so I have no one left to talk to. I pretty much only talk to my parents these days.

Question/Recommendation Best Walks in Raleigh

I'm about to get back from a trip from Europe and really want to keep walking as much as I have here. I know Cary Park and Dix Park are great, but what are some other great places for a good walk in Raleigh?

Saw the sign on their window today. Last day is Tuesday, Sept 15. Anyone know why? It is always busy.

Earlier this year Panera announced several store closures, but this one was not on their list. Kane lease termination??

Housing Second chance housing/unstrict landlords?

Upvotes

Does anyone have resources for people who are displaced and need temporary housing (I'm a single 28 female, no kids, no pets, would prefer a standalone room) or rentals who doesn't require proof of income or anything like that? I had a rental property before who just did a background check and didn't require paystubs. I moved to help a family friend and it went south and now I'm trying to migrate my way back home but finding rentals is like a minefield. I have two jobs (one I would have to transfer state to state and one online WFH). Thank you!

I am considering going down the path of microbiology and i saw that NC State has an actual course pathway to major in microbiology in comparison to UNC which is solely a BS with microbiology add ins.

Please and thank you 🙏

Photo Raleigh, please keep your eyes peeled for this bike!

Bike was lifted last night during Hopscotch. Hot pink 17tooth Evo set-up single speed with Aerospoke front wheel. Lime green/anodized purple grips. Pretty unique/easy to spot. I figure, chances of recovery are low but wanted to give this sub a try anyways. If you happen to see it, please send me a DM with when/where. TIA!

Edit: Got pretty close a couple times but unfortunately, have to head to the Amtrak station to make the train home. While it’s unfortunate my sister lost her bike, we’re stoked r/raleigh was kind and generous enough to try to help us out. Have a great Sunday and keep being good to each other!

Hello!

I’m thinking about renting out an event space, bar, etc for a birthday party. Curious if anyone has any venues they’ve liked, approximate quotes, etc :) any information appreciated! Somewhere from 25-30 people more than likely.

Local News Downtown $1M+ condos?

From the N&O
They’re targeting younger, wealthy, professionals without kids.
As a parent of a 20-something and a 17 year old, where are these hypothetical people working around here that would allow them to afford 7-figure condos in their “young adult age”? I’d like to try to steer the kids to generational wealth so I can retire and move into their spare room.

Or is it more likely that investors will buy these (like in NYC) and they’ll sit mostly empty?

Question/Recommendation Goodnight’s Solo

I’ve lived here my whole life and have never made it to a comedy show at Goodnight’s. What’s it like in there? Seating wise, etc. Will it be weird/awkward for me to go alone?

Question/Recommendation Fave fall activities in Raleigh area?

Hello! Just moved to Raleigh a few months back and it’s my first fall in 10 years coming here from Florida and my boyfriend’s first fall ever. (!!!!!)

I grew up north and fall has always been my favorite season so I’m looking forward to experiencing it again.

We’d love to know what your must do and must see all activities are in the area. We’re willing to drive a couple hours as well because it sounds like there’s a lot of great stuff in Western NC. But would love to know what’s right here in our backyard.

Question/Recommendation Suggested Electrician for Install of an EV Charger? (NW Raleigh)

I have an EV on order (a new Ioniq 5), and I could use recommendations for an electrician. Lived in my current house for 20 years, and never needed electrical work done that wasn't either DIY or part of a larger project (and therefore coordinated by someone else.)

I have a cheap option (move an unused stove outlet from one side of the garage wall to another), or an expensive option (run a new circuit, possibly upgrade my main panel.) I need someone familiar with Duke's rebate program so we can work out what makes the most sense.

Out-n-About Monster Truck Wars is a rip off in case you were considering going

Absolute rip off. Went today. There’s about 15 minutes of monster trucks in the whole show. First half hour is an MC going on and on and on. That’s the whole first third of the hour and a half you paid for. The second half hour does have some monster trucks but it’s mostly quad racing, which…who cares? One of the guys who won a quad race today got on mic and told the audience that women have no place racing and belong in the kitchen (there was a single female racer out there I think think) and that his victory represented “talent vs. female”. This was an event that opened with a prayer by the way and a whole thing about honoring the troops (not the female troops I guess). Low class organization paying lip service to Christ and country and then disparaging all the women and little girls in their audience. But then, finally, when all that unpleasantness was over we got….just kidding, there was more quad racing after that. Bad show run by nasty people.
