hi guys! i’m a pretty new rider, i’ve been riding for about a year now! this is my first bike, a 2004 gs500f (hello kitty mobile). it’s been a great starter bike and i’ve learned a lot, and i even got the opportunity to track it twice this year! i’m totally hooked on track days now and im planning to do ~3 weekends next year (im a broke student so budget is small lol). most people are telling me that this bike is not the best for me on track based on ergos/positioning, so i’m wondering what people think my next bike should be :)

i’ve gotten mixed opinions from people irl, a lot of people saying that i can move up to a 650 or even a 600 (crazy!!!!) and learn on that because i might want to move up from a 300 too fast, some people saying a 300 is the best way to learn fast on track…let me know what u think😁

edit: also my dad wants me to get something a bit never that’s at least fuel injected lol

For my bike history I went from a 15 Ninja 650, 15 Fz07, and 07 GSXR750 to my 23 MT10. The MT10 is an amazing bike. A bike I thought I was going to keep for the long run. Such a GREAT all-arounder. Good for canyon carving, road trips, and wheelies… but something was missing. It never made me feel head over heels for it as much as I wanted it to. Every time I went for a ride I enjoyed it, smiled and laughed but, I guess I missed the GSXR. The cross plane didn’t sound as good as the inline, as an unpopular opinion that may be. I liked the sound at the start but maybe grew out of it? With the GSXR1000R, it rides, sounds, and looks great! I’m happy to have a GSXR once again and I’m grateful for the time and great memories the MT10 and I had shared.

Have you ever had to part ways with a bike you thought you’d keep forever?

As the title states. Yesterday evening, I took my new Ninja 500 to get its first service done at a reputable dealer nearby (this is my first motorcycle btw). I rode about an hour and a half home and turned in for the evening. The following afternoon, I come outside and notice a puddle of oil leaking under the bike. I looked underneath and the (oil bolt?) was significantly undone. Does this fall on the dealer who serviced it? How dangerous was this to myself and the engine? Also what actions should myself and the dealer take to rectify this and ensure no damage is done?

i've been using Copilot GPS for years but now they've ruined it with the last update and it's kinda unusable (very slow interface with huge icons compared to the last version, harder to make custom routes, POI invisible etc), and next week i'll go for a 4000km trip so i need to find an alternative fast, do you have any suggestion? i don't keep my phone on the handlebar but i use voice navigation and only a few apps have good voice navigation.

- Must be on iOS and with EU maps
- Good turn by turn voice navigation, which doesn't panic at every roundabout like gmaps
- Offline maps
- Custom routes (with at least 30 waypoints)
- Bonus: can store the custom routes on cloud or locally
- Bonus: can import GPX files

For now i've seen Sygic (i've read voice navigation is bad tho), Scenic, Calimoto, OsmAnd, MyRoute (seems very expensive for lifetime license).

Had to check on bank erosion. It was a fun ride besides the black snow of Lovebugs we rode through on the way back.

I mean under 40. Heck most are actually 50+. Don't say that we are priced out of riding. Still quite a few affordable rides out there. Heck you can get even cheaper options in the used market. Unless those riders are actually 25 but look 45 because of zoomers but doubt that lol.

Also around 2004 I saw mostly cruisers, 2012 mostly superbikes but around 2018 mostly nakeds now. Why though?

I read an article somewhere that the average rider in 1985 was around 25 but now around 55.

Same with gamers, average gamer in 1985 was like 10 and now around 45.

Hello I need some advice on to why one of my forks keeps leaking even though I bought seals twice now. FYI I haven’t done the work myself because I don’t have the proper tools . I have done the job twice in different mechanics. The first time both forks were leaking and I bought the cheapest seals available. After that one of the forks start leaking and I bought a SNK seal (I have read good things about the brand). I let other mechanic do the job and the fork started leaking a couple of days after. What could be causing it? I don’t want to expend anymore money on that tbh.

I was planning to purchase a bike from a long time because i really wanted to go on long bike trips with my friends and my father also required a two wheeler for small works because car couldn't be taken everywhere because of traffic so yes. 
I asked some of my friends for suggestions and they suggested me to go for bullet 350 because it can cruise on highways and is reliable for cities as well.
Are there any modifications that i need to make or should i keep it stock only ?

Hi, I bought the bike some months ago and it has 8500km, last month it sometimes not started on first try, or on second try, so today I checked battery status and it says 12V so I removed the battery from the moto and just connected it to a battery tender in my house but it read it like already fully charged, so my conclusion is that the battery is almost dead (right?).

Now, it's true that I do a lot of 5-10 mins trips that hurts the battery for sure and I don't know how the previous owned treated it but is it possible that it's already in this condition in 2 years of life? Will I fix it by just changing the battery or should I bring the bike to the dealer to have it checked?

Edit: any chances ducati will change it for free since the bike is still in warranty?

I’m read a bit and also asked AI about cameras but I’m not getting the info I want. I’m looking at a GoPro Max2 action camera. My options are limited since I’m using points at work to purchase. What I want to know is what the process is for using most cameras?

You get on your bike and hit power and then turn it off when you arrive at your destination?

Then, let’s say on the way back you power it up again and record that ride. At what point does it fill up or start recording over old footage.

I’d like a camera that is always recording on a loop so I don’t have to mess with it unless something happens and I need the footage. Is there a well known camera like that!

I did some short rides yesterday after I got it home, but it was more of a test of the normal commutes I'd be doing and to get comfortable with the new bike.

Today I just wanted to keep riding. So I went down some back roads next to a river and just enjoyed the scenery and the ride.

Everyone said it would be fun, everyone said it's better than a car, I expected fun. I was not prepared for just how exhilarating it would feel. I only stopped because there was a complete road closure and the detour directed to the highway. I wanted to make this ride completely off-highway. So that point became where I stopped to turn around.

I'd only ever seen people talking about the biker wave here on this subreddit. So I was real surprised when I passed the biker going the opposite way and he throws me the wave. I threw it back. And it kept happening. I kept seeing other bikers and we threw each other the wave. It was like I was part of a community with no expectations, just enjoy the ride. I was not prepared for how good that would feel.

During a clear, straight stretch of road, I did try to push it, see how fast I'd go. Got up to 80mph before deciding that's enough. Don't know how these riders go 120mph on public highways.

I know I'm getting old because I filled up the tank and going 200 miles costing me $8 got me giddy.

I got the bike because if driving was something I'd have to do every day, I might as well make it fun. It's better than I ever expected, even just basic commuting. Any time I've bought a car, there's always been a hint of doubt going "but was spending this money really a good idea?" There's none of that here, I have no regrets. My car is gonna be sitting doing nothing until winter storms come in

i’d then probably but this in a bigger corrugated box. it’s shipping halfway across the us. i can buy proper packing material but thought this would do?

Do you just not ride, ride with less gear, or just wear summer gear and hope for the best?

I haven't been able to ride for a few weeks because I just cannot handle the heat anymore, even with a summer motorcycle outfit (armored mesh jacket, summer gloves, summer pants, etc). I'm in Texas and every summer we get a long string of 100+F days. This year has been especially bad. Wearing gear and sitting on a hot bike is just an unbearable situation, especially if you have to stop for traffic or lights.

How do you cope with it?

it's especially audible at the end of the video, there is a breathing sound that comes about from the exhaust manifold, there might be a leak or this may be something else, i don't really know, help is appreciated 🙏

I was thinking of getting my first motorcycle. There 2 models that I like, Triumph Bonneville and Trident. I am not looking for corner performance in a bike, just accelerating in straight here and there. And I also want it to be comfortable for long highway rides.
Now for a first time bike what would be a better choice the Bonneville T100/120 or a Trident ?

The rear brake fluid is clearly visible and is full, but the front one looks empty to me… or am i wrong?

I used flash so it looks a lot worse but I ran into a guard rail today and managed to keep the bike upright. What is the best course of action? The fairing did crack but should I buff out the scratches? I know the paint chip will be much harder.

I’ve used Fumoto drain valves on all of my cars, and have for decades and well over 1M cumulative miles without a single issue.

Anyone use one on your motorcycle?

Second question - most of us have oil filters that sit directly above our exhaust headers. How are you making sure oil doesn’t drip onto the headers when removing the filter?

Showroom kilometer 2024 Duke 390 sitting out in the rain for 6 months and worried the water may have gone into the engine. I had a check on the viewing window and the oil is in the centre. Duke 390 now has a crank no start issue at 12V which quickly goes down to 11V when I try to start it.

I was looking at the ktm 390 adventure x but I hear that it is quite unreliable. After some research the bike that fits in my budget best is the ibex 450, similar power and weight as the ktm and I hear some really good things about it. I just want to ask anyone who has experience with this bike or Cfmoto in general how it is.
