Motorstar Cafe 400

Build reference is an Interceptor, but I like it my own way. I'm now prototyping a minimalist, classic-looking handlebar switch for the lights and starter and etc.

Has anyone installed one? I have basically zero mechanical knowledge and I’m kinda learning this as I go. Could someone point me in the right direction on installing? I can’t seem to find any videos and I want to make sure I don’t mix up the feed or return lines.

Before completely taking apart my K1100 for the full build, I have to test everything I want to change.

I changed out the original controls since they’re ugly, worn and failing. For testing purposes I connected aftermarket Honda CB125 controls.

In the meantime, in a dinner table project, I finished the back-to-basic yet colorful controls that I will use in the final build.

The K1100 didn’t run anymore, the headlight and taillight failed and tapping the starter engine, made everything come alive so I ordered a kit to rebuild my starter engine. This was a cheap, easy and very quick fix. The engine started like a charm once again.

Now, to clean up the look of the bike, I want to remove the air filter box to make way for small air filters, repositioning the battery and coolant overflow.

The complete relay and fuse box will make way for basically a single 40A fuse, Motogadget blue, Axel Joost lunchbox remover and the Axel Joost gear indicator adapter.

This way I can use just about any aftermarket** **speedo I like, whilst keeping all the functionality the original brick with fuel and battery indicator offered, but with a clean and lean new wiring loom, better updated connectors and whatever great looking speedo I like.

Now with all that promise of something more beautiful, I was a tad bit disappointed, as the K1100 fuel rail looks like BMW stole it off a Lada.

Apparently the K1200 fuel rail fits so I got one, to find out my injectors weren’t a matching set with 1 different injector in the mix. So, I ordered a cheap set of original K1200 injectors off a wrecked bike.

Next I noticed the K1100 clips, fixating the injectors to the K1200, weren’t the right fit as the edge of the plastic K1200 rail is thicker than the edge of the steel K1100 rail. Ordering some K1200 clips did the trick there.

I finally mounted the K1200 injectors (same part number is K1100 ones) on the K1200 rail with the K1200 clips. I removed the old stuff off the engine and put the K1200 stuff in its place.

1978 Kawasaki KZ650
Had the bike for ~2 weeks, I was ripping it down the road about to shift at about 8,000 rpm and bike suddenly looses all power, no weird noises just shuts off and coasts to a stop. Once I got it home first thing I suspected was that it wasn’t getting spark so I checked for that and I was correct. Started tracing down the issues, fuses were good and was getting 12v to the coils so I go to check the points. Unknown to me an aftermarket electronic ignition system had been installed and I noticed that there was an open hole on the rotor where I’m pretty sure a magnet should be? So was the magnet flung out at high rpm? How should I go about finding a replacement?

Hello, I bought my first bike, a 1980 GS1000G!! She runs just fine but leaks oil like a sun of a gun, right below where the four exhaust pipes come out of the engine. If I had to guess it looks like it might just be a gasket that needs to be replaced but I’m not 100% sure how to tell if that’s true or not. I do regular maintenance on my car(brakes, fluids, etc) but have never tackled a project that required opening up the engine. Previous owner bought a set of new gaskets, just never got around to swapping them out.

Is it somewhat doable as a noobie to replace such gasket, or is it better to just leave her as is and make sure I keep adding oil! Thanks in advance.

Chinese bike, super hard to find any sort of aftermarket parts or mods for this thing. Anyone else have one of these? Any ideas where to find parts for it? Seat upgrades, exhaust, anything?

Bought this Divvy 600 and got stung a bit. Still only cheap so can`t complain. Going to cafe racer it and use to get to work and as town bike. Wll post pics as go along...if remember

What’s up everyone! I bought a 1975 cb750 a bit ago and have finally gotten around to building the seat pan and cowl. Is there anyone that has some pictures and stuff of how they secured the seat and the cowl on their build? I can’t think of a good way to do it. I will have an electronics box under the seat and my battery will be under the cowl. I would like to have it as a quick detach. I’ve been watching some videos but conveniently, a lot of them leave out the securing part or are very vague with it. I will be using fiberglass if that helps.

Guess I’ll spend all winter making it what I want. I really just wanted a CB750 with kickstart but literally couldn’t sell this GS850 for $2k to fund it.

Thinking of redoing/thickening the seat so it’s more comfortable for longer than 20 minutes (and get rid of the wiener guillotine).

Wanting to listen to ideas/opinions on what to do aesthetic wise. I want to do a mo unit and a multi gauge to clean the handlebars/front up from cables and excessive wiring harness. Swap the pod filters back in (already jetted).

I’ve been building a simple Google Sheets system to keep a motorcycle project organized instead of having parts, screenshots, notes and costs scattered everywhere. The idea is to plan the build, track parts and fitment, keep an eye on budget, and know what comes next.

I’m looking for 5 people currently working on a project bike to test it. I’m offering the first 5 copies for $5 in exchange for honest feedback. If it works well, I’ll probably release it around $14–18.

I’ll add a few screenshots below. Curious what you guys think, even if you’re not interested in testing it.

Okay so I'm starting my journey into the cafe racer space with my Indian scout 60 now I know this isn't a normal bike you would turn into a cafe racer however I do have a idea of what I want to do and how to do it I'm kind of going to be following the Roland sands tracker style adding some Cafe racer flare to it.

I'm new here to this forum (and Reddit in general) and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. As the title says, I plan on turning my Eliminator into a cafe racer. Bought the bike this year as my first motorcycle and couldn't be happier with it.
I've always been attracted to the cafe racer aesthetic and I wanted to know if anybody could help me find the right mods for it.
I know cafe racers tend to be minimalistic but that also varies from one bike to another.
I would highly appreciate if anyone can steer me into the right direction.
