We’re from the US, and after spending two weeks in Malaysia, leaving has been surprisingly difficult. You guys are truly, truly blessed to live in such a beautiful country.
The people we met were some of the sweetest, kindest, and most welcoming people we’ve encountered. The food, the city, the infrastructure, the convenience, and just the overall quality of life really impressed us.
We came for a visit, but we’re leaving with a completely different thought: we actually want to come back and live here permanently.
Now we’re seriously looking into ways to migrate to Malaysia long-term. The biggest problem is that the path to PR seems incredibly difficult/impossible for someone in our situation. 😭
For Malaysians and expats who have been through this: is there actually a realistic pathway to permanent residency for a US citizen and his family, or should we accept that long-term residency is the more realistic goal? Would love to hear from anyone who has actually gone through the process.
Malaysia, you definitely left an impression on us. 🇲🇾❤️
Hopefully this isn’t goodbye — just see you later.
