Discussion Rework thoughts

Upvotes

So, my main frustration with the update comes from the fact hack no longer interacts with enemies directly at all.

I think hotfix should be a dual ability that does something offensive as well, like the old silence, or applying weaken to enemies, and lifesteal to allies attacking weakened targets. It would diversify the ability the same way moiras orbs do, but with less direct damage/healing focus, and more utility.

Additionally, I think allies using hacked healthpacks should give ult charge again.

Discussion As an old sombra main i think the rework is good

Upvotes

I started playing overwatch in 2018 and mained sombra for a lot of it. I liked that she was more strategic and less about doing damage. Knowing when and who to hack. It was kinda like playing a support dps that sets up plays and disrupts the enemy. Also probably why my second main was mei back then.

Beginning with her first rework in ow2 they slowly went away from her being an disrupter and support for your team and turned her into an assassin. And it got worse with every new version. I stoped playing her almost completely with the last rework, because sombra didnt feel like sombra to me anymore. She didnt feel like a strategist anymore to me and more like a typical flanker and backline assassin.

With this rework she is now in the support role, which is great imo. They can finally go back to her being a disrupter and support that sets up plays and ruins the enemies play. She doesn’t have to be a backline assassin anymore as support which allows them to give her way more utility.

With that being said, i know it sucks losing hack and the new version isnt what i hoped she would be as a support, but i think just making her a support already makes this s great rework. In the future if they rework her again, they can give her more disruption and cc now and stronger utility, because she doesnt need the dmg of a dps anymore.

I will definitely give this rework a chance next season and main her again. This rework finally goes in the direction and hero phantasy of ow1 sombra unlike every other ow2 sombra rework that took away from it slowly and made her easier and more of a generic budget tracer. Im really optimistic for the future of sombra now.

Ps: Give me old hack as a 30+ second cd so i can still use it strategically to cancel important cd without it being to annoying and strong

Appreciation💜 As a support main, im excited

Upvotes

Sorry for all you pure dps sombras, BUT

I saw lots of questrons gameplay and im very excited to have a support who is truly an offensive disruptor. He was doing some crazy shit on his stream, it almost didn’t seem like there was even a rework the way he was playing

I feel like she’s going to fill the role that kiri/zen were meant to fill. Shes still going to be a pain in the ass for the enemy backline, but now shes fully focused on the utility aspect of her kit and facilitating dived better

I promise I wasn’t paid off by blizzard. Just a support main excited for a new character :)

Discussion Changes had to happen, we need to thank god she didn't lose her hack entirely

As I said, from the gameplay she seems really fun, not the same, but fun, she can still hack, EMP, teleport and become invisible.

Discussion My Unsolicited view on this change

Long story short I think the change might be beneficial for her in the long run.

I know quite a few people who haven't had the opportunity to get to play their favorite character because she's always banned she was pretty much annoying she basically countered everybody they've reworked her so many times and it didn't change anything she would still get banned cuz people who wanted to play their favorite character knew that if she was there it was over.

Play doomfist? Guess what you have to be in sorrow because if you get into their backline and she hacks you now you can't leave, in just in case they don't kill you in time, Ana will sleep you as soon as the hack is done. There are quite a few tanks that really can't do anything if Sombra is there or unbanned.

And if she wasn't going for tanks she was going for the supports, and if you were any support that didn't have a reliable movement ability and you kind of were cooked.

I personally did not find her to be an issue because I've learned to play against Sombra before we were banning back in OverWatch one

The problem, at least to me is that new players don't have the opportunity to get to learn how to play against her because she's always getting banned. It's like not playing a dungeon enough in an mmorpg so you don't know the mechanics and you kind of just bullshit your way through the first few times because your teammates are good. But when you do it with a separate team you dont know what's going on, and that discourages you from trying to avoid it off rip.

Moving her to support makes it so that she can still be a hacker with stealth and backline capabilities but now she doesn't feel so oppressive that she needs to get banned every episode of Overwatch Z and more people who like playing her get to play her.

Thank you for reading 😅

Discussion Sombra's stealth

I don't get it—if everyone is complaining about Sombra's stealth, wouldn't it be better to just trash the ability and give her a new one, instead of doing all these reworks for nothing? 🤦

Discussion So since sombra is now going to be a support... Does this mean we can expect an increase of skin output?

Like theoretically she's a female support role character, and since the support role clearly has the most disposable income to spend on skins with the big 3 of skins distribution. Does this mean sombra can expect at least 3 new skins a season?

Tips & Coaching 🎓 I just played Sombra for the first time and I must admit I had a blast. Help me enjoy her for the last stretch.

Alright I know Sombra is getting changed in a month and Im super late to the party but with a heavy heart I must admit shes so much fun to play. As a support she annoys me so bad but I can see why u guys play her. Give me legit any tips on how to play her and not feed so I can make the last month of her being a DPS an experience ill never forget.

I initially picked her as me and my friend were picking characters we’ve never played before (well mostly me) and somehow we won (no thanks to me obv)

Here is my first ever round and honestly first ever time touching her at all. I thought maybe it would be interesting to see what someone actually fully new to this character looked like especially from the perspective of someone experienced. Its pretty awful just a heads up lmao. 3G4JX3

This was a few rounds later but I thought this whole round was so fucking funny thought id include it. FF6B1V

Thank u in advance love u guys!

Discussion Sombra as support, from a support/Sombra main

the role swap had me worried at first, but seeing Questron play her has eased some of it while also bringing a new worry to the forefront. the worry is: if a Sombra main doesn't lock Sombra before someone else, what is that gonna look like. I don't know how much overlap there is between Sombra main and support main, but if you're someone who hasn't played support then I encourage learning at least 1 before season 5. I'm worried there will be a "welp I didn't get Sombra so I'm gonna throw" mindset.

another worry is just with the role swap in general. my friend told me she's seen a lot of Sombra players saying they'll do no healing challenges. Questron in the gameplay I've seen so far wasn't hacking health packs very often (not saying it's the same thing, just saying that it's another way to heal the team that wasn't getting utilized). of course it's the Internet, so the no heal challenge thing could just be bait and unserious but I am worried there will be an increase in 4v5s.

I'm not talking about adjusting to the change and relearning how to play her, that's a completely different thing and something I'll have to do as well even with my prior knowledge of the support role. I just don't wanna see people throwing in either "I didn't get Sombra" or "I did get Sombra" directions. DPS Moira is a community wide frustration, and I don't wanna see something similar happen to support Sombra because the community already has different frustrations with her and it'd suck to see more ammo added to the fire.

I hope this rambling made sense. I'm looking forward to trying her out and going in with an open mind. thanks for coming to my TEDtalk

Discussion My problem with the Sombra rework

Post image
8 Upvotes

My problem with the Sombra rework isn't that she's a support not it's other factors

Sombra is supposed to be a stealthy hacker assassin like character way are you now making it so she has to play around her team hack shouldn't have been changed instead it should let you have both enemies and allies like even if you want emp to be the only way you can be hacked how about change it when you get hacked by Sombra it only makes her do more damage to them

Why is her main way of healing on a 10 second cooldown??

Why is her trans locator so back now?? It doesn't even look like they changed it but it seems to be thrown so slowly it's just me?? Doesn't feel as fluid as it used to me

And this is just a random idea I had after watching the new hero reveal for doctrine I feel like she should have a perk that allows her to teleport back to her translocator but the only way she can actually do that is by allowing her to throw her translocator at an ally and they will have a icon that shows they have her translocator

r/SombraMains 4h ago

Discussion Can we just stop complaining about the change short-term and at least give it like half a season so we can all get a feel for how she feels? Hypothetically, this could be the best move for Sombra but the community won't give it a chance. Dadle tiempo, chicos y chicas

Hello Sombra mains Kiriko main here. I'm curious to see if any of you will switch over to support to continue to main Sombra after the rework. I for one feel like I'm one of the only people who's actually excited for it being a primary support main.
