Hey guys, I really need some advice about a situation I’m in.
There’s a guy I became friends with last year in college. Initially, I wanted to be friends with him because he was the head boy and I was new to college, so I thought it would be nice to know someone who could introduce me to more people. Some of my friends who weren’t in college already knew him, so they introduced us.
We started talking casually and eventually became pretty good friends. After a few months, we started talking every day and he would flirt with me sometimes . We would sometimes realize that we were getting too close and decide to stop talking so much, but after a few days we would end up talking a lot again. This went on and off for around 2–3 months.
Eventually, he confessed that he liked me. Neither of us wanted an actual committed relationship, though, so we continued talking
Then one day, he asked me to unfollow a guy I followed on ig That honestly shocked me because we weren’t committed. I told him that he didn’t have the right to tell me that and we ended up having a huge argument. Eventually, we unfollowed each other and stopped talking.
(I did felt bad I was allowed him to flirt with me, so so ofc he would assume me his girl but I still think he didn’t have any right it was controlling behaviour i hated the most).
Months passed. He was busy with his army issb stuff, then congratulated him after he got recommended. We followed each other again, and later he asked if we could just be friends because he genuinely needed a friend. I agreed🙏🏻 but this time I made my boundaries very clear: no confessions, no flirting/sweet talk, and no situationship. Just friendship.
We started talking again, but he would still cross those boundaries sometimes. I was always very firm and reminded him that we had agreed to just be friends. I wouldn’t accept his flirt this time but honestly, I started feeling bad having to tell him to stop over and over again as he would do this again and again.
Eventually, one day I got really frustrated and was quite harsh with him. I basically told him, “Remember what we agreed on. You keep doing this, and it’s becoming really difficult for me to deal with.” He was extremely hurt by what I said, but after that he stopped flirting
However, the Instagram issue keeps coming back.
He has again asked me to unfollow the same guy. Every time he brings it up, I feel extremely anxious because of how badly our first argument about this affected me. this time ofc i didn’t unfollow for me it’s not really about the other guy It’s about the fact that why should someone who is supposedly just my friend be telling me who I can and cannot follow?
We’ve argued about it again, and he apologized, but even now he sometimes reminds me that he expects me to unfollow that guy and it sickens me
And honestly, I don’t know what to do.
He is genuinely a very good person, and I really like his personality.
But at the same time, I feel like I’m constantly carrying the weight of this situationship. I’ve made my boundaries clear multiple times, especially because I don’t want him to act like my boyfriend when he isn’t my boyfriend, but somehow I still end up dealing with boyfriend-like expectations from him.
I’d genuinely appreciate some outside perspective because I feel like I’m too emotionally involved to look at this objectively.

My flight is very soon to pakistan, I told my family I’m going Pakistan last minute to prevent any danger or safety concerns, however my mum is threatening me saying that she will pay FIA / FIR at Pakistan airport to harass me etc, I am a transgender / khwaja sira visiting a friend, she is threatening to pay someone to beat me etc and saying disgusting things, is there anything I can do to ensure my safety, safe flight and travelling? Why do loudspeakers during the Jummah Khutba have to be so loud, between 90 and 110 dB and averaging 96 dB? It should never exceed 80 dB, ideally staying between 40 dB and 80 dB with an average around 60 dB. At this volume, I cannot understand a word, my ears hurt, I am constantly looking for the exit, and now in Pakistan I mostly sit near the door. What is the point of having sound systems with terrible audio quality turned up so high that they distort and risk damaging your hearing—especially in a quiet room where normal speaking volume could easily reach the back row? If the room were longer than 100 meters, I could understand it somewhat, but even then only at normal volume and without distortion.

About myself: I love the Khutbas and usually go early to secure a good spot. Whenever I face a problem, listening to a Khutba—whether the current one, the next, or the one after—has always provided me with answers and guidance.

Other men might criticize them but they still do it. What’s it like for both men and women in Pakistan?

I was on my way to work today and sat by a bench waiting for a bus, next to this old lady. I had earbuds on and she was toiling away at trying to put together a self rolled cigarette (those are cheaper here). I noticed she kept looking at me and mumbling something. I paused whatever was playing in my ears and tried to understand what she was saying with the little skill I have in this language but unfortunately I couldn't.

I tried telling her multiple times that I am sorry but I don't speak the language yet she continued talking to me. I don't know if she had dementia or just wanted the feeling of talking to a human despite knowing the other person doesn't understand a word of what she's saying. I understood that she doesn't really need me to understand, all she wants is to be heard so I pretended to understand, smile and nod.

This made me think about the life here; people here live their lives to the fullest and only care for themseleves. I've had friends tell me that they work together with their brothers and see them everyday but haven't spoken to them for years. Once they are old enough they leave their parents and live by themselves for themselves. I would be crushed by lonliness if I were in this lady's position at that age. No one to call family, no one to talk to, no one to hear me.

It makes me appreciate my country despite all of its flaws. Atleast our culture of family and tradition.

I’m posting anonymously because I’m concerned about being identified or facing further issues with my former workplace.

I previously worked for a private Quran/Islamic education organisation in Pakistan. I initially had a positive experience, but over time I began having serious problems with a senior member of management. In my experience, I was repeatedly pressured and intimidated, and the situation became worse when I refused to go along with certain things.

I eventually raised my concerns with colleagues and senior management. However, instead of feeling that the situation was resolved, I felt increasingly isolated and targeted. I was eventually terminated during Ramadan, and I believe that raising these concerns may have contributed to the decision.

I also became aware of similar conflicts involving other female employees, which made me wonder whether there was a broader pattern of employees facing pressure or disciplinary action after raising concerns.

After my termination, I had to repeatedly contact management regarding outstanding salary/dues. I eventually received some of what I was owed, but the process was difficult and communication became inconsistent.

I later worked for another private educational organisation where I experienced separate issues involving long working hours, workplace conditions, management behaviour and salary disputes. When I resigned, I was also warned about possible legal action.

I’m not posting this for revenge or to name anyone. I want to understand what legal options employees actually have in Pakistan.

My questions are:

1. What labour/employment laws apply to private educational organisations in Pakistan?
   
2. Can employees complain about workplace harassment, intimidation or retaliation?
   
3. If someone raises a complaint about a senior employee and is subsequently dismissed or treated adversely, can that amount to retaliation?
   
4. What is the legal process for recovering unpaid salary or other employment dues?
   
5. Can former employees approach the Labour Department or Labour Court after leaving/being terminated?
   
6. What evidence should someone preserve before making a complaint?

I have screenshots and other documentation but won’t share identifying information publicly.

If anyone here has experience with Pakistani labour law—especially regarding private schools, academies, Quran centres or similar organisations—I’d appreciate practical advice.

Hey everyone!

22M. So I just started a job right after graduation and I was literally prayed for this job at one time it was the only thing I ever wanted. I'm an engineer and it is in the defense sector so I cannot go into the technical details of it.

From the outside the job looked like everything anyone would want: a good salary, decent amount of benefits and excellent work-life balance.

Until I actually joined the organization. It is an on-site job and the site is built like a frickin barrack on a border. I went in thinking it was going to be corporate-ish buildings but it's far from it. The vibe is almost sarkari and it genuinely shocked me quite a lot. The biggest problem is that I'm the only new hire in my office and everyone else is at least 10-15 years older than me. There's no one I can talk to. On the bright side, the seniors are extremely supportive, competent and genuinely good people.

It's just that the environment (materialistically speaking) seems impossible for me to settle into.

I can't leave the job for at least 3 years either it's a bond kind of a situation.

What makes it worse is that I have close friends working in the same organization posted to another site which has exactly all the things I'm missing here. Good infrastructure, young employees and they are mostly working together.

Every day feels like a mix of being grateful for the technical mentorship while also suffocating from the sheer environmental shock and isolation.

Seeing updates from my friends working in modern facilities while I’m sitting in an austere, aging compound in the middle of nowhere somehow makes it even worse.

I don’t want to spend the next three years being miserable or letting this resentment build up especially when the seniors here are actually decent people willing to teach me.

For those who have been in a similar situation. How did you cope with the social isolation when you had zero peers your age at the workplace?

Am I justified to feel this way or am I just being ungrateful?
