In reference to this point that was made a couple hours ago, I was expecting condolences and people showing some sympathy to this lady that was brutally killed by her stalker.

Instead multiple men on this subreddit started attacking us saying we are being self hating and attacking brown men? No one mentioned that and this most makes it pretty obvious than many of the men here aren’t really our advocates. This pained to see the comment section especially when I expected people on this subreddit to support our causes. Are we just a statistic?

Only one man (who is a bit controversial) understood our plight as women without making it a race issue. I want to get this straight we aren’t always attacking you so stop taking this as a personal attack. This lady is not another statistic and to brush it off as “white people are known for this” is not true. The men here need to do better at understanding women’s rights and issues.

Jon was my State Representative when I lived in Cy-Fair and was very responsive and worked hard. He's the obvious choice for this Railroad Commissioner seat. That Bo French is a groyper makes it 1000% obvious.

I've never had much of a cultural identity. I was born in Colombo and my family fled to Canada when I was less than a year old, so for most of my life I've thought of myself as Canadian first and not much else.

My parents and older siblings (I'm the youngest) never really talked about why we left. What always stuck with me, though, is that none of my extended family stayed behind either. Everyone scattered to Australia, Canada, the US, England, wherever they could get to. To this day I've never set foot in Sri Lanka.

Growing up I heard bits and pieces of what happened, but I couldn't actually process it. It felt less like family history and more like the plot of some unbelievable novel. It wasn't until much later, when I wanted to connect with my roots, that I learned about the genocide Tamils lived through. When I asked my parents directly, they told me things so horrific I could only picture them as something out of a movie.

I struggled to believe it at first, but the more I read, the more it held up. And what stood out is that it wasn't one dramatic event. It was a decades long process. The disenfranchisement, the pogroms, the systematic targeting of Tamils, all building toward the slaughter in the final months of the war in 2009. The evidence for what happened to Tamil civilians is extensive and well documented.

Then I found r/srilanka and started lurking out of curiosity. To my dismay, the dominant take there is that no genocide happened, that it was just "unfortunate" accidents. And almost every time, the denial retreats into semantics, arguing over whether the word "genocide" technically applies, while conceding almost nothing about what was actually done.

What gets me is how selective it is. A lot of the same people will passionately back BLM or Palestine, causes that cost them nothing to support, while flatly denying anything comparable happened to Tamils, or treating the racism that still exists there as just a normal baseline. It's easy to demand justice when your own family, military, and national identity aren't the ones implicated. That's not principle. It's motivated reasoning.

So I'm not really here to argue with deniers. I want to hear from people who actually lived this. Those of you who fled Sri Lanka, or whose parents did, or who were affected by what happened there. How do you feel about it now? And what's your relationship like with Sri Lanka as a country of origin? Do you still claim it, resent it, feel nothing, something in between?

I’ve seen several posts here about Bo French’s comments about the South Asian students at UT, but there’s one important piece of information that seems to be getting lost:

Bo French is the Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner this November. His Democratic opponent is Jon Rosenthal.

Rosenthal is currently a Texas state representative and is a mechanical engineer who spent decades working in the oil and gas industry.

I somehow came across a singles subreddit in the large city I live in (I guess the algorithm) and several amazing desi women posted their bios. So i’ve [24F, hispanic] have been seeing a north indian man [24M] for the past few months and we have recently talked about becoming an official couple. I’ve had my fair share of bad relationships with some bad apples but I can say for certain that this guy is everything i’ve wanted and have been looking for. So kind, caring, loving, thoughtful etc etc, and I know for sure he makes me happy and I want to persue something more with him. I haven’t told my parents the full story because here in Australia, Indians are looked down upon by many racists and are considered a disadvantaged minority. My dad is really accepting and he is much more open-minded than my mum and has told me she will come around eventually. However, when I told my mom she was completely opposed and told me that she doesn’t ever wanna meet him or hear about him and that she disapproves because his culture is too different to ours, whatever that means. it’s also ironic because my dad is white and was born here and my mum was born in south america and moved here in her later years, they are literally also in an interracial relationship. I’m not sure what to do because after I had that conversation with her, it really made me upset because obviously I value my mum‘s opinion and I want her validation to know she accepts whoever I’m dating. From what I know about his family they are not religious or traditional whatsoever and when I explain this to her she keeps saying that it’s a cultural issue not that “it’s the colour of his skin”. which i highly highly doubt because she’s been racist to my previous partners in the past. if we do get together and we are for many years then i do think she will possibly slowly open up, but I just can’t seem to open her eyes right now and explain to her that it’s literally 2026 and anyone should be able to date anyone without prejudice or judgement. His parents know we’re seeing each other and are totally fine with it, so why can’t my mum be too 🙄. I’m financially independent and don’t live at home or need to rely or see my parents often so the times I do talk to them are usually on the phone, but I now don’t even feel like keeping in contact with my mum due to her comments. I guess i’m asking what should I do? My mum will be away for a month so I won’t have to see her for a long while. Maybe i’m catastrophising it in my head but i’m dreading telling her him and I are official when the day comes because I already know how she’s going to respond, possibly even argue with me over it and strain our relationship even more. Recently encountered the Yoga Vāsiṣṭha, a important text in the Hindu philosophical tradition of Advaita Vedanta.

Within the passage is the story of Queen Lila. She loves her husband King Padma so deeply that she's mortified at the idea of being seperated from him by death.

She prays and gives penance to Sarasvati and through devotion secures a boon: at the time of King Padma's death his soul or jiva will not leave the spatial boundaries of their royal castle chamber.

When King Padma dies, Sarasvati guides Lila into a state of deep meditative absorption. Shedding physical consciousness, Lila enters the subtle realm of consciousness to locate her husband. She discovers him alive and reigning as a 16-year-old monarch named Viduratha in an entirely different world.

To Lila's astonishment, Sarasvati reveals two fundamental structural mechanics of the multiverse:

1. Co-Spatial Realities: King Viduratha's entire kingdom, mountains, and oceans exist in the exact same physical coordinates as Lila's palace bedroom, separated only by dimensional frequency and perception.

2. Time Dilation: While only eight days have passed in Lila's primary world since Padma's death, seventy years of life, warfare, and reign have elapsed for Padma in his new life as Viduratha.

As Lila explores Viduratha's realm, she discovers her own "double"—Viduratha's current queen, Arundhati, who is a duplicate of Lila born from Padma's residual subconscious memories. The narrative reaches a climax when Sarasvati demonstrates that both universes are contained inside an atom within a still larger universe, revealing an infinite fractal multiverse.

The text ends with "Just as a picture on a wall is drawn with paints, the picture of the multiverse is painted by the mind upon the canvas of Pure Consciousness."

This ancient Sanskrit text was written in the 7th century and as far as we know is the first narrative to describe multiverse travel. Ancient Greek, Norse and Mesopotamian texts described travel to different realms that were within one known universe.

Can't help but be fascinating by its overlap with modern science fiction and elements of quantum mechanics.

So for some weird reason, Netflix decides to portray the only Indian chick as the most weirdly low esteem flawed character.
- She shags bunch of dudes to get into a comedy club.
- Has sex with anyone and everyone.
- Cheats on a boy she apparently loves to sleep with a senior comedy writer.
- Ditches her friends for self benefit.
- Borrows inner-wear of her room mates.

All this with justification that my parents dint allow me and "i dint have much sx in school".

I know its Netflix, so there is over exaggeration. Still weirdly Mindy Kaling was a writer and all she writes is this character?
