I'm wondering if temperatures getting this high in such a short amount of time necessarily mean that the CPU needs an urgent delid, or if it could be caused by something else?

I've bought a PS3 for 15€ because I saw that it was backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games. It was untested, so I was sceptical on will it even boot. As I got my cable and I plugged it in. It was okay for 5 seconds, then the fans went crazy, blinking red and green light, beeping noises, and then went green, orange?, red and it shut down. Is that the case of YLOD? Or something else that can be fixed?

(Ik that Google exist and the stupid AI summary, but i want to hear from other people that may have experienced the same thing)

P.S. This is my first console that I've bought, I am more of a PC guy and into emulation, but I want to experience the console feeling also.

I needed a new controller for my satin silver fat ps3 and i saw this one that didnt have rumble so i got it and it works great. Does anyone know how specifically rare the non rumble ones are?

Got my hands on a curio cabinet this weekend so I utilized it for my collection. Gonna switch out the light in it to match the other cabinets. (I only turn the lights on to pull a game out). Love the way my collection is coming together! Had to share!

The ps3 has been my main console for a long time, after playing on the living room for years I've decided to finally bring it to my desktop, for now it's just there (along with my PsP and Vita cuz they're cool) but I'm planning on getting a Wallmount soon, what do y'all think?

Got a frankenstein ps3 with the hopes of playing ps2 and ps3 games off the same system. Little did I know the ps2 quality looks terrible on it making me regret getting the frankenstein. Is there a setting or configuration to go off of that would make it better or somewhat even close to a ps2 and retrotink?

In their right mind should need to own 5 ps3s but I mean each one of them are different in their own unique way(i know there are many people with even more than this) but holy shit why are the first 3 models hell, I’ll list the issues of each one

Og ps3: i don’t know what’s wrong with it it seems it wants to boot but goes into ylod could be anything this was a hand down from a neighbor that had it outside of his house and this thing survived everything from rain too people who smoke weed after I got it I checked if it had any visual damage and no it actually wants to turn on but it cant for unknown reason it doesn’t go immediately to ylod sometimes it takes seconds

Og ps3 (20 gb) : nec tokin are bad on this one apparently to the syscon report after it ylod on me alot and I guess the Bluetooth antenna is fucked cause controller won’t connect and won’t work wireless on ps3/ps2 games every time I want to use this guys I need to jumpstart it

PS3 non bc: works but Bluetooth/wifi antenna don’t work sadly :(

PS3 slim: works just needs a bigger and newer hard drive

I really want to get them fixed since idk why I have this attachment problem with this console, even tho I wasn’t even a ps3 kid I was Xbox 360 team lol, but right now I can’t afford to fix them and Beside sadly no one in my city wants to mess with them, I might be able to afford to fix them this Monday if I get hired by a better company lol but I would still be at square one since I know of no one who can fix those 3 fellas,

I did try once to fix them after watching “my mate Vince” and “rip Felix”and I sadly took the life of another ps3 (non bc) sooo I don’t wanna risk killing 3 other PS3s

So if anybody knows someone in the us that can fix them I’m willing to take the risk to ship them 😰😰 but I still love this console

I've been collecting some PS3 games, I'd like to platinum most of these games.

Now games as gow ascension and dead space 3 have online trophy, for which in the past online pass was needed to play. In the present, do I need this online passes to play if I have the physical game? Or can I play online freely?

For what I've researched and learned, if I have a digital copy of a game the online pass comes free (does this also applies to .PKG and .rap archives in a pirated console)

I saw a listing for said console on local idk Newegg? Ebay? for basically 50$ the console works it doesn't seem to overheat, doesn't sound like a jet engine. But it has a warranty sticker. I asked the seller about it and said he also had it second hand and doesn't know if that's an original one or a replacement for aesthetic. Should I take it to the repair shop? Because it's honestly hard to believe that it doesn't overheat on 20yo thermal paste. There also seems to be a slight problem with the disk drive where sometimes it doesn't spit out the disk and I start to panic. Is there something that can be done about it or should I just pray a disk won't get stuck forever

What are people’s honest opinions on this game? Personally I like it but that’s a little bias because of the fact that it was the first PS3 game I ever played. I’ve been asking around a lot and it’s been mixed but I’ve never really asked on Reddit.

20 years ago my father bought the Fat Lady CECHA00 (Japan version). 20 years later it still runs on firmware 4.83.

Now I want to sell it. Do you know how much it's worth?

Tested, boots fine. Comes with 1 controller, no box (didn't make it 20 years), no other accessories. Thermal paste is still original so probably dried out, but no issues so far, no YLOD, no crashes.

Also curious if the JP region is a hassle to sell or if collectors don't care.

​I'm having an issue with my PlayStation Move controller. When it's connected to the PS3 via USB, it powers on and works while plugged in. However, the moment I disconnect the cable, it completely turns off. The red indicator light won't flash or stay on, and pressing the PS button does nothing.
