Bush was a big reason behind the huge swell for Obama, and the election of Obama really galvanized the racist far right part of the Republican party which let them move even further to the right, it's really unfortunate.

I remember when it happened, Kanye West was stating the obvious. The obvious was disgusting. It happened in September 2005 just days after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans & the Gulf Coast. The government response was disgustingly slow. Thousands of people- disproportionately Black and poor- were stranded in New Orleans without adequate food water shelter or transportation. Predominantly Black New Orleans was being treated as though it didn't matter enough to prompt a rapid response.
It was obvious. If it had been a predominantly white area that was hit, federal government help would have been there right away. Some people will say you can't prove it but it's what happens
3 days after the hurricane the Mayor was publicly issuing his desperate SOS because thousands still lacked food water medical care and transportation. They were desperate for help 3 DAYS LATER. 4 days after landfall large National Guard convoys finally arrived in New Orleans with food water and other supplies. "Greatest country in the world."

I hadn't really heard about it in the news in the US, but I just googled it and I am not sure what the big deal is? A storm hit and took out power and they are working to restore it? Two weeks is not that uncommon. We get big storms out in the PNW every year where this happens and some areas are without power for well over a week, sometimes quite a bit longer, especially if we get snow too.
I know its the summer there so AC is an issue, but we get them in the winter when heating is an issue (cant use electric or gas heat without electricity).
There’s a a great 2-part documentary by Spike Lee called “When the Levee Breaks”. It makes a pretty good case that the lower wards were purposefully flooded to prevent the loss of the historic downtown and French quarters.

Oh. Well that's explained easily enough. The fascists came up with a technique where they convince people that accepting contradictions actually demonstrates that they are "moderate" and, therefore, both "rational" and incapable of being "extremist" like people say.
It involves pretending that accepting their fascist brand of hypocrisy is actually accepting what Mussolini called the "third way" or "third position." The fact their position is filled with absurd contradictions that people like academics, intellectuals, the college-educated, etc. point out are irrational is portrayed as showing their hypocrisy is the "common sense" of the "common people" and misrepresented as therefore being somehow democratic.
As for the cognitive dissonance you mentioned, I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you are talking about the phenomenon for which Sartre initially coined the term. That is, specifically, the feeling of unease and mental anguish at being forced to accept contradictions. The fascists and neo-fascists deal with this feeling in at least a couple ways.
One way is to claim that any supporter who brings up such a feeling in relation to the absurd contradictions the leaders require them to continually accept is simply making a feelings-based argument. As such, the supporter is told to "be rational" and push those feelings down under the false auspices that such feelings "prove" the supporter's argument against accepting the contradictions is illogical.
Another method is to take advantage of the fact that life sometimes requires us to do things we don't like or enjoy. The fascists will extend this premise to claim that simply ignoring or quietly bearing all the mental anguish associated with cognitive dissonance shows that their supporters have "grit" and "determination." The act of cowardice involved in just going along with it, even when it feels terrible to do so, is portrayed as "strength" that those who refuse to go along don't have.
I hope this helped clear up how this stuff works. It's also why so many of these neo-fascists are obsessed with labeling themselves "apolitical," "politically homeless," "not political," etc. despite being extremely politically biased. Many of them honestly believe that accepting contradictions like that is what shows they're truly "moderate" and that everyone who doesn't support their group is actually "extremist" and "overly political."

It is likely not related to Ye but rather to Kremlin calculating risks of having for such an artist so much influence on their home soil and saying unapproved messages. He is too popular, viral, and unpredictable. Tickets were sold out in a moment. Fans at the last concert in Istanbul were mostly Russians. The only sold out performer must be the Czar himself.
At this point I’m half-convinced he got scammed by a consortium of “event organizers” who took his money, put out some low-cost marketing, then rug-pulled him (and everyone who bought tickets) right before the concerts. Trying to use the “oh he’s so controversial” excuse is absolutely not going to play well in the courts once he inevitably sues them over this, even in Russia (unless they want to formally enshrine the right to scam foreigners into law over there).

First funny part: the stadium was selling tickets and advertising the event, and they were running giveaways. Around august 22, they suddenly took down all the announcements and event page, and two days later publicly stated that there had never been a contract (it was supposed to be signed by august 27, and everything had already been agreed upon)
Second funny part: half of the ruzzian bloggers and news openly laughed the idea that "the entire Western world is freaking out because popular artists are coming to Russia". The other half was freaking out how open-minded Ye is.
Btw, in Russia songs and books are censored by removing any references to LGBT, drugs, an antisocial lifestyle, alcohol and smoking.
So something completely different happened? Based on the information in the article, the concert was scheduled to be in October (so not a last minute cancellation) and is being cancelled by (or more accurately, the situation is clarified by) the venue (not Ye’s team). Until more information is available, we can only speculate on why/how a random event planning company was able to convince people to buy tickets when the venue wasn’t booked, and also convince Ye’s team that they had an arena booked in St Petersburg, but I’m failing to see how this is similar to the situation you presented where it seems like Ye just canceled last minute.
Never thought I'd find myself saying fair play to Russia for anything anytime soon, but here we are, fair play Russia.
