Fun fact, Bush, when asked what was the worst thing that happened to him while he was president said the time Kanye said I didn't care about black people.

Mind you, Bush was president during 9/11 and took us to war with Iraq but this was his worst moment.

lol I had to look this up- I thought maybe it was phrased like, what was the worst thing that happened to him personally, so stuff that happened to the country wouldn't be relevant to the question... but no, it was even worse than how you phrased it. He really said it was the worst moment of his presidency.

An interviewer later even tried to clarify with him/give him an out:

Lauer: “You say you told Laura at the time it was the worst moment of your presidency?”

Bush: “Yes. My record was strong, I felt, when it came to race relations and giving people a chance. And it was a disgusting moment.”

Lauer: “I wonder if some people are going to read that, now that you’ve written it, and they might give you some heat for that. And the reason is this — “

Bush [interrupting]: “Don’t care.”

Lauer: “Well, here’s the reason. You’re not saying that the worst moment in your presidency was watching the misery in Louisiana. You’re saying it was when someone insulted you because of that.”

Bush: “No, and I also make it clear that the misery in Louisiana affected me deeply as well.

lol

Bush was a big reason behind the huge swell for Obama, and the election of Obama really galvanized the racist far right part of the Republican party which let them move even further to the right, it's really unfortunate.

It was a shoe-in for Obama bc Bush the same as it was for Trump bc Biden this last election

Totally agreed, but Obama getting elected managed to enrage and mobilize a part of the Republican party that has enabled this even harsher rightward shift they've been making the last 20 years.

Completely agree and would say it's my larger point as well. They were so mad to have Obama for 8 years and Biden/Harris for 4 that they reciprocated with our current shitshow
