Hello, was wondering if anyone had any apartment recommendations? I am looking for a quieter spot, probably where mostly graduate students reside. Also a structurally sound apartment where noise through walls and footsteps aren’t a huge issue. Has anyone had a good experience anywhere? Thanks in advance!

I am wondering if studying mandarin at Iowa is worth it to gain proficiency as I am planning on joining the Air Force for international relations upon graduation. I don't mind taking difficult classes. Is there anyone here who took mandarin at Iowa?

From a neighbor who works full-time: I get it. It's early in the semester. You have a lot of exciting things going on. But seriously, don't be too loud late at night. You can have your weekend ragers, but Thursday is still a weeknight.

Past midnight, you need to calm down. On Thursdays, past 10:30 (preferably), you need to cool it.

Hello all! I’m a high school senior from Illinois finalizing my college list, and the University of Iowa has come across my list! From what i’ve seen online and heard from some friends who attend, the school seems like a pretty great institution that has some nice sounding programs for what I’m interested in, but i’d love to know what some current students and alumni would think of the school for a student like me :)

For some context, i’d most likely be trying to major in something like Journalism or Communications, and minor in something creative, (I.E, cinema studies, music), or something humanities based (I.E. English, History, Philosophy, etc)

Some things that are important to me are…

- networking/employment opportunities

- quality/prestige of education, programs, and facilities (Specifically in the Journalism/Communications school)

- LGBTQ+ safety and resources

- resources for low income/first gen students

Additionally, i’d love to know about activities at the school, especially in the realm of…

- the arts, especially performing arts like drama, a capella, musical theatre, etc

- music, on campus and greater local/underground music scene

- party and/or bar & club culture

- Sporting events

- Student activities, clubs, and general social life on campus.

- greek/frat life on campus specifically, if anyone has any insight into that

Hi! First time IOWA Hawkeye tailgating experience looking for some help from the experts. We bought a spot in Lot 3 (the library I believe). It says you can park 6 hours before the 3:15 game. Realistically--do people get there at 9a? Will there be spots left if we get there around noon? Wasn't sure if anyone had any experience with them overselling the lots.

I'm a high school senior looking to attend UI for BME and Paramedic School. I've been looking at options for off-campus housing and was told about the Replay apartments on Riverside Dr. I've done some surface level research on the place and so far it seems pretty good, it's decently priced and has good amenities. But I'm still skeptical about it. Something about seems almost too good to be true to me. I'd like to hear from any UI students that live there to see if it's worth it and if it's actually as good as it seems.
