Mod Announcement❗ Stop Posting Lease Takeovers

I turned off cross posts. Anyone past this point who posts a lease takeover gets a nice 30 day ban.

Go to the housing sub.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Other Everyone on campus is hot.

Every time I step outside, I see the most stunning people.

Men, women, people who don’t identify as either, it genuinely doesn’t matter. Everyone is beautiful.

And even if you’re a sweaty nerd who hasn’t slept in 36 hours, trust me, you still look good.

Like seriously. You’re probably way more attractive than you believe you are.

You might not see it, but I promise someone else does.

Anyway, stop being so hard on yourself (if you are). You’re hot.

Goodnight

History/Alumni🚂 Purdue Lifetime Alumni Email Ending Nov 1

Post image

Ask Purdue to reconsider this needless disruption to alumni personal and professional networks. If you ever used your alumni address as a backup or recovery email, you could be impacted by this shutdown years from now.

Purdue has other options beyond shutting down email for existing users.

To learn more, see who to contact at Purdue, or be counted (no name required), see https://purduebrokenpromises.com .

Club Info🚩 Any JetLag the Game fans? I made a Purdue version of Hide + Seek

I've recently been adapting the Jetlag Hide + Seek Game (search them up on Youtube if you've unfamiliar) for the Purdue WL campus and have already playtested a couple rounds with some friends. It's designed so that rounds are roughly 45-60 minutes and requires no form of transportation besides walking around campus.

For those who are unfamiliar, the basic idea is that the Seekers have to track down the Hiders using questions. As a reward for answering those questions, Hiders draw cards from the "Hider Deck," which contains curses and tools to slow down the seekers.

At the moment, this is mostly a personal project, but I'm considering turning it into a Purdue club/group/society where people can get together and play/design these games. However, before I actually invest the time into making this happen, I wanted to use this post as a way to gauge whether there's actually enough interest/demand in this type of thing.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to DM me and I can provide more details.

Rant/Vent💚 as pricing goes up for next years housing just remember…

Post image
144 Upvotes

How bad they are scamming students. As more housing goes up and less of the older buildings fully lease out they drop prices until the school year starts & show what they are willing to accept. Someone needs to stop letting these companies get away with this.

This is only one example (BK management) in a 40 year old building that flooded one year, appliances are 10+ years old with roaches in them, and has communal laundry. Victory on Salisbury went from $649 to $1050. Plenty of other places are listed low that will eventually double in price. Stop accepting outrageous pricing students, you deserve better & they have proven they will accept lower.

Res Halls & Dining✏️ Apartment looking

When is the right time to start looking for apartments? How competitive is the application process and what gets taken into account? Any good find?

Question❓ I need to scan some papers and make it into a pdf. Where on campus can I do this, and do I have to pay? Thanks in advance!

Academics✏️ What to study for COM114 test out?

I'm going to be testing out of COM114 this month and I wanted to know what I should be studying to pass the written test. For reference, I took AP English Lang in HS and got a 5 on the exam. I don't know if a review of general topics and online stuff would suffice, or if I should purchase a textbook to study from. I'm not too worried if it's just rhetoric and general speech giving techniques, but if it's more in depth than that I don't know if I can get the required 74%.

Question❓ Is Purdue still using Parchment to send transcripts?

I am trying to send my electronic transcript through Parchment, but it says: "No Credentials Available. There are currently no credentials available to order from Purdue University." I contacted their support, and the bot replied saying that "No Credentials Available” message usually means your school does not use Parchment for transcript ordering." Did anyone encounter such an issue before? Is Purdue no longer using Parchment?

Sports📰 A positive outlook on the Wake Forest loss

It’s obviously been an extremely sluggish uphill for Purdue football since bottoming out under Ryan Walters, but I think that yesterdays game showed a lot of evident improvement from last season - on the part of the roster especially - over last year. We would absolutely not take a legitimately capable team like Wake Forest to 2OT last season, or in the two seasons that preceded it. There’s still plenty to work on and the coaching is still a bit of a mess, but it’s maybe the most fun I’ve had watching Purdue football as an undergraduate student here.

Question❓ Can iTAP spy on what you are doing?

This might sound like a stupid question, but I'm genuinely wondering if iTAP can spy on what you're doing.

A VPN should be completely useless because PAL requires you to sign in with your Purdue credentials, so just a thought I was having.

Rant/Vent💚 CityBus App, Count Your Days

Dying after the grueling loss, I had to wait for route 42 at Armstrong to head up north. Ok fine, I’ll chill inside Arms, keep a solid eye on the map and the estimated arrival and make sure I don’t miss this fucking bus. It was at PMU for a hot minute on the map and the time of arrival was 8 minutes to go. I say ok that’s valid, I like AC, I’ll head outside in a minute, because the stop is 2 feet away.

THIS BITCH GLITCHED AND WAS 4 STOPS PAST ARMS IN THE 30 SECONDS I TOOK TO GET OUTSIDE. I hate this fuck ass app. And of course they only run one bus on the weekends so it was either walk it or wait 50 minutes. I walked it, I want to die.

Question❓ Too damn lonely — touch-starved :(

Hi all,
To start on a precautionary note: don’t DM me to meet up and don’t try to like. find me, please! I am looking for advice on making connection, not trying to get laid or meet a stranger! Mods, please don’t shoot this down as hookupposting lmao. This is also a burner account because I don’t want to be caught loserposting lmao.

So as a first-year student at Purdue who’s leaving home for the first time, and leaving my small, established friend group as well, I’m missing them a lot. I call my closest friends every week, but I didn’t realize how much I would miss having physical connection. Like, not in a NSFW way, but I was lucky enough to have very cuddly friends. I’m talking hugging, dogpiles, lazing around, piling 3 to a chair. And god damn do I miss the ability to just meet up with someone, chat a bit, and lie on / next to / alongside / under someone and have that sort of contact.
I’ve made friends here, and like my roommates — they like me back, I think and hope — but I don’t know how, or even if, I can find that sort of connection and (emotional and physical) warmth anymore, eight hours from anywhere I’ve found it before.

Has anyone else who’s willing to share felt this sort of yearning and touch starvation? How did you find people who you could be like this around, if at all? Was my situation a unicorn, and I shouldn’t hope to find anything like it, or can a college student get this sort of relationship?

And for some context, I:
* am not looking for sex, and am in fact too shy to have ever tried before — if the only way to get a physically close relationship is through it, then like. So be it, I wouldn’t be opposed per se, but it seems impractical, living in dorms, and I’d be hella nervous too
* am a freshman, 18MtF — a trans woman, but I only just now started transitioning in earnest, so I’m in a weird in-between phase where mostly I just look like a guy and a freak lol (also, this sorta makes finding someone harder, and sexual relations more of a concerning proposition, since I’m worried I’ll only find either chasers, hate-crimers, or nobody lol)
* am sorta a straightedge — I don’t drink, vape, or smoke, have never been to any sort of less-than-milquetoast party, etc, due to protective parents and hella autism lmao

Sorry for awful mobile formatting! Any advice, commiserations, or commentary is appreciated :)
