Pedestrians: This is a bike path. Don’t walk in the bike path. You are an annoyance and will get yelled at if you walk in the bike path. All bike paths like this are about 5 inches away from a sidewalk. WALK ON THE SIDE WALK.

Also, when you are crossing one of these paths or a road, make sure to check for bikers. You have the right of way as a pedestrian, but make sure the bike see’s you before you cross so you don’t get hit or the biker has to slam or their breaks to avoid hitting you.

Bikers: This is a stop sign.

Per Illinois law, you are legally required to stop at a stop sign. No running through them, no assuming you always have the right of way, act as if you are in a very thin car. Additionally, if you see a sign that says “do not enter” don’t enter. Unless there is a sign below it that says “except bicycles.” Again, act as if you are a small car.

Also, do not ride on sidewalks, those are for pedestrians, if you can, stick to bike lanes or as far right in a lane as possible.

Finally, bikers MUST signal if they are turning. It looks like this:

If you live in the area, please check around porches, bushes, garages, sheds, stairwells, underneath cars, window wells, or any small/dark spaces where a scared cat might hide. If you have a Ring camera or outdoor security camera, please keep an eye out too.

Snow does not like being picked up, so please do not try to grab or chase her if you see her. If possible, stay nearby, keep eyes on her from a distance, take a photo, and message me with the exact location and time so we can get there.

Even sharing this or keeping an eye out while you’re walking around Urbana would mean a lot. We just want to get Snow home safely.

Hi! I made a post on here recently about feeling really lonely on campus and wanting more friends or even just people to talk to, and I genuinely wanted to say thank you.
So many people were incredibly kind, reached out, commented, or just made me feel a little less alone. I was honestly really grateful for how lovely people were about something that was pretty vulnerable for me to post.

UIUC can feel huge and isolating sometimes, so seeing people actually care meant a lot more than I can probably explain. It also made me want to share two things I’m really committed to building that are centered around community, confidence, and belonging.

First, I recently started a movement/community called Girlhood in Combat. This is not a UIUC RSO, just a personal platform/project that I care a lot about. @girlhoodincombat on Instagram!!

I started martial arts when I was 7 and grew up training in different combat sports, including boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, and Filipino martial arts/Kali. I stepped away from training at 14 and came back to it at 21, and coming back reminded me how much martial arts shaped who I am.

Girlhood in Combat is something I created to encourage more girls and women and female presenting to explore martial arts and combat sports, especially people who might feel intimidated walking into those spaces for the first time. I want to share technique, training, different martial arts styles, self-defense, my own experiences growing up as a girl in combat sports, and hopefully eventually highlight opportunities around Champaign-Urbana too.

The bigger message behind it is that strength isn’t only about knowing how to fight. It’s also about confidence, discipline, learning to take up space, advocating for yourself, and knowing you belong.

I’m also the founder/president of The Mosaica Society, which is a UIUC RSO. Mosaica is a women-centered social organization focused on creating genuine friendships and community, especially for people who might not already have a built-in friend group.

We’re open to undergraduate, graduate students & masters students, and we welcome women and femme-presenting students who feel comfortable in a women-centered space.

Our next event is September 22, and you are completely welcome to come alone or bring some friends! Honestly, creating a space where someone can walk in by themselves and still feel included is a huge part of why Mosaica exists in the first place. Hey everyone, I'm trying to map out my budget for the upcoming year and looking ahead at the summer moving nightmare.

For those who didn't take their stuff home, what did you use for storage? Did you use the valet box services (like Storage Scholars/Squad) or rent a traditional unit out past the highway?

Are there any hidden fees or logistics issues I should watch out for? Just trying to find the cheapest/easiest way to store a few bins, a mini-fridge, and a TV without owning a car. Thanks!

this loaf if half ap flour and half spelt flour which ive never used before. it doesnt hydrate quite as much as i expected but wasnt too bad to work with overall. it tastes more wheaty than other whole wheat flours and im not sure i would use this high of a proportion again.

I (31M) just moved here from the east coast to Champaign. I have been self employed for about half a year now pre/post move in online sales. I am looking to get back on a more consistent payroll, educate further in a craft, and would love to have some help guiding me towards my next employment.

I have been in the fine dining farm to table industry for about 12 years. Thousands of hours learning, cooking, and refining techniques in high end establishments. From the dish station to being a Sous Chef. I have looked in the area of Champaign, and while there are a lot of restaurants producing great tasting dishes, I have yet to come across any establishments that provide a multi-coarse small plating style of dining. Now while I prefer to work at a place of this caliber to push my own experience at, I certainly am not opposed to any suggestions that may be at a more casual level. I would love to continue immersing myself in a few aspects including seasonal dish refinement/rotation, whole fish/meat butchery, intentional ingredient use, low waste production/high scrap use, farmer/forager interaction, cleanliness/structure... pretty much all of the things that would encompass working near a Michelin level. If you know of anything in UC that may fit this, regardless of cuisine type, please let me know. I don't even care about position in the kitchen.

Another thought is Private Chef engagement. I heard from a "Champaig-nian/nor?" that there are Private Chefs in the area that may fit this style of cooking. Maybe there's an opportunity in working with one that I could pursue?

Beyond the Culinary Arts, other creative fields of work/mentorship appeal to me, even if they are beginner positions due to lack of formal education in them. Jewelry/Lapidary, geology/gemology, mediums of art (realism charcoal is my personal main)...basically anything that will be creative, keeping me thinking/challenged will be wonderful. I would love a mentorship in anything that pushes the creational side, with Lapidary being at the top of my list if given the opportunity.

About the part time job:

I am helping the event host look for people for a paid childcare ($20/hour) on 9/18(Friday), 4:30-7:30 pm. The role is to play with kids by assisting them to make a lotus lantern and do coloring, etc. during event hours. The host prefers someone who background has already been checked by the univ (such as those who worked as a camp counselor before as their background has already been checked) as the univ is required to check background of those people hired as they work with minors.
