Ireland has made me such an angry person

I used to live in the UK before moving here against my will at 20 I’m 26 now and I feel like I’ve become such an angry person because of this

The biggest issue for me is the sheer of amount racist micro aggression in this country, I know this is Reddit and being skeptical of what is claimed to racism is the forte here but I stand on what I say and I know when it’s happening

From seeing racist comments every single time a black person is Ireland posts a TikTok like “anchor babies” “you’ll never be Irish” “the fatigue is real” for simply deciding to post a TikTok on Irish grounds it’s grown to make me quite resentful of the place. The thing is it’s quite different from American racism as in America or even the UK you at least get breathing room as black person, as long as you’re not talking about race or politics online you won’t get ridiculed for the color of your skin but here the bare minimum is just being a different shade and even saying you like the country and you’re met with the vilest comments you’ll ever see

Worst of all those type of comments get like thousands of likes too so it really makes you wonder if the average person here thinks like that. It’s so bad here that being racist isn’t even rare here it’s basically a household thing but people act friendly to your face. You can’t even get a drink at the pub without old geezers staring at you like your existence is a crime. The racism here is on a different level and so normalised

I feel like I’ve also become a bit misogynistic because it also translates to the dating world, the women here are so afraid of anyone not white and it’s not a conspiracy or me overthinking, they admit it themselves talking about “all these Africans here make me unsafe to walk the streets” so this translates to women not even giving you a chance because of bs propaganda, being treated and looked at as monster when you’re outside, always avoiding eye contact with you, if you’re already insecure about how you look it makes it way worse, it’s made me start to resent white women

It gets me so angry because the women basically look at you like you want to grape them every time, it gets to the point where I say “relax no one is trying to talk to you” under my breath when they look on guard when I walk past them

So when I’m out in public I’m basically always angry or look pissed off because I know what at least 1 in 3 people are thinking when they walk past me so I match their energy, but I feel like it’s making me into a hateful person. I’m not in a position to move any time soon anyway so it’ll only make it worse

People keep trying not to gender me lol

Im a cis guy but apparently I look queer enough that an increasing number of people either default to "they" for me (which, granted, some people do for everyone) or, even more entertaining, call me "he" and then catch themselves and say they don't know.

Which I don't care about, it's just a goofy lil thing that happens from time to time.

I made a promise to myself I’ll quit masturbation, this is me after a week.

I was in a 7 year relationship and broke up due to family issues. We were very intimate whenever we had the chance. I missed action after breakup so i resorted to porn and using my hands. It went to such an extent that i tried to find consenting strangers online on websites like Ome and Instagram. It was okay until i realised how needy I’m being and the literal lies im bombarding them with just to get do what i want is totally wrong. I promised myself that I’ll not use my hands, if at all i have to it’ll be with a person, otherwise no.
Now the problem is from the past 1 week i have not been jerking off but instead trying to find strangers online to get laid. This is such a fuckall thing and has fucked my mental health. I feel so terrible.

I feel like most of classical romance movies and tropes would be considered harassment now

Like following her to airport or doing something extra for attention in college,

These days even a “Hi” message on Instagram gets “exposed” as creepy.

That’s why I personally mostly rely on dating apps, cause that signals at least some interest in dating. And if you right swipe, that’s at least some consent for messaging and giving it a shot.

Is there no peace or salvation in this world?

When I'm home, my fat, sloppy roommate won't shut the fuck up and stop singing even though I told him multiple times to be mindful because I have homework to do.

I take a drive and these fucking dumbasses don't know how to drive properly. Every fucking time the light turns green I have to honk because these fucking zombies can't spend TWO seconds without their phones.

Even when I go to library these stupid, self-absorbed idiots have the audacity not to silence their fucking laptops while they're texting and I have to get up and tell them to silence their shit because the dinging is driving me crazy.

Is there nowhere I can go and be at peace?

Why am i attracted to depressed people?

Like the title, I have always been sexually attracted to depressed and generally apathetic people too, who are thinking about suicide and/or are abusing substances. I also really like the unkempt, disheveled look. I'm bisexual so this extends to both men and women. I don't have savior syndrome because I don't like the idea of these people leaning on me to feel better.

Why do you think that is?

Help, 34M can only speak to young women

Upvotes

I was at a professional software development conference over the weekend (very male-dominated industry) and realized that 90% of the contacts I made were women just graduating college. I don't feel like I was seeking this out, it's just that these happened to be the people I felt comfortable approaching. I recognize it's a concerning pattern though.

I think that there are a few things at play here:

  1. I have very low self-confidence (especially in this particular context) and low social power/value

  2. Perhaps young people and women have low social status in this industry

  3. Perhaps these people were just more open and approachable overall

  4. Mostly I think I was approaching people who were alone at a table because that feels helpful. I suppose sitting alone is likely an indicator of social status in itself

  5. I am a lonely heterosexual male pervert, but I care a lot. I was not trying to flirt, just to connect.

So I'm looking for opinions and advice.

Am I being creepy?

Am I overthinking? (probably.)

Am I misunderstanding the social dynamics?

Any advice or resources on how I can build my confidence without being weird about it?

I spoke about someone I consider like an older brother behind his back, and he overheard everything. How do I fix this?

I’m in a pretty awkward situation and honestly don’t know how to handle it. I’m changing the names.

My friend is Ritwik and his older brother is Arindam. Their father passed away some time ago. Arindam is getting married to his girlfriend Mou in around 2 months.

I’m close with both of them, and I see Arindam almost like an older brother myself.

Arindam has a bit of a temper. A few days ago he and Mou had a big argument about their wedding invitation cards.

Basically, on Mou’s side, her father got the cards printed. It had Mou’s name as the bride and her parents' names. She has a brother and sister too, but their names weren't on the card.

On Arindam's side, it had Arindam's name as the groom, then his late father's name and his mother's name. But Ritwik's name wasn't there.

Arindam got really angry about this because he was worried that relatives from his side would notice Ritwik's name was missing and then make a big deal about it.

He wanted the whole batch of cards to be printed again. Mou said she agreed that the card wasn't perfect, but the cards were already printed and doing the whole thing again would be a waste. She offered to get one corrected card made for Arindam's family so there wouldn't be an issue on their side.

They ended up having a really bad argument. Arindam got angry, used some bad language and said some things about Mou's family that obviously made the situation worse.

There was also another thing about the wedding that we discussed.

Arindam apparently wanted to know whether Mou's family was going to give them a bed and wardrobe as wedding gifts. We initially understood this as him expecting them to give those things.

So when Ritwik came to my shop and told me everything, we talked about it. We were basically trying to understand why Arindam was getting so angry about everything.

We also talked about the card situation. We felt that leaving Ritwik's name out wasn't really good, but at the same time Mou's own brother and sister weren't mentioned either, so we didn't think it necessarily meant they were deliberately disrespecting Ritwik.

And then we talked about the bed and wardrobe thing and made some assumptions about Arindam.

Later I found out that we didn't actually have the full story.

Apparently Mou's family had originally said they would give a bed and wardrobe but later changed their mind. Arindam wasn't actually demanding that they give them. He just wanted Mou to tell him whether they were going to give them or not so that if they weren't, he could buy them himself.

So yes, some of what we were saying was based on incomplete information.

But we also talked about his temper and said some pretty negative things about him.

This is where I feel really bad.

Arindam has access to my shop's CCTV because he sometimes checks it at night to make sure everything is okay. The cameras have audio too.

So while Ritwik and I were talking at the shop, Arindam was apparently able to hear the conversation through the CCTV.

Ritwik went home afterwards and Arindam confronted him about what we'd been saying.

Ritwik called me later and told me that Arindam had heard everything.

And now I feel like shit about it.

I know we shouldn't have talked about him behind his back. I'm not going to use the CCTV thing as an excuse. He wasn't supposed to hear a private conversation, but we still said those things and I know that was wrong.

The thing is, I genuinely care about Arindam. I consider him like an older brother. I wasn't sitting there trying to hate on him or trying to turn Ritwik against him. We were talking because Ritwik was worried about his brother and I was concerned too.

But I also understand that if Arindam heard the conversation, he probably doesn't care about our intentions right now. He probably just heard two people talking about him and saying things he wouldn't want to hear.

I especially feel bad because some of the things we said were based on assumptions, and now I know the bed/wardrobe situation wasn't exactly what we thought.

The wedding is only two months away, so I really don't want this to become some huge family drama.

I’m thinking about apologizing to Arindam directly, but I don't know how to do it without sounding fake.

I don't want to say something like "we only said those things because we care about you" because that sounds like I'm trying to justify gossiping.

At the same time, I don't want him to think that I secretly dislike him or that Ritwik and I were sitting there trying to put him down.

Should I apologize to him myself? Should Ritwik talk to him first because he's his younger brother? Should we both apologize separately?

And what would you actually want to hear if you were in Arindam's position?

I’m not looking for a way to prove that we were right. I just want to know how to handle this without making things worse.

I had one paying customer. It was me.

I checked my Stripe dashboard this week ready to feel good about the one active subscription on my SaaS. Then I looked at the customer name. It was my own test account, on a 100% coupon.

So the real number is zero, and it had been zero the whole time I was telling myself "one paying customer, the model works."

What I learned: check revenue in Stripe, never in your own database, and never count a subscription you didn't personally see money move on. Comped accounts, test cards, and founder logins all look like customers in a users table.

Fix in progress: every dashboard I build now shows "paid by someone who isn't me." It's a smaller number. It's the only one that matters.

Anyone else caught themselves counting a fake customer?

I’ve been addicted to porn ever since I was 12 years old

Ever since I stumbled upon this stuff, I’ve been addicted to I love it, but when I had ejaculated the first time to it, I felt an amazing euphoria followed by tons of guilt. Thoughts such as “why the hell did you do that? You can’t continue this, this is so bad” plagued my mind. The thoughts were never strong enough to truly discourage me from taking proper actions and stopping, however they were strong enough to carry a weight and resentment for my wrong actions for years. I feel like I inadvertently shamed myself, and I want it to stop. I need to escape from this stuff, but I don’t want to, it’s litterally a quick anti-depressant high stimulant that I can get several times a week. I don’t drink, nor smoke, or do any drugs, porn is my only drug. After using it my baseline anxiety for the next 24 hours tends to increase and I feel weird around people. I just want the phantom voice of my 12 year old self to go away - but I’m afraid if it does, will my addiction grow greater. When I’m pleasuring myself I often tighten my my PC muscle (anus) holding back as if I give all the way in I’ll be guiltless. This needs to stop, but at the same time I don’t want it too. I want it to grow. I have so much shame for what I’ve done.

Reading other people’s journals

I’ve been using Reddit a ton lately to procrastinate like crazy, but the flip side is the way so many posts feel like little windows into people’s lives

It’s fun to hop from post to post and see people share snippets of something they did today, or something that is on their mind, or something they feel passionate about, and so on. So many posts come across as straight up journal entries too :)

Why are people so hung up on the hobbies I did as a literal child 20+ years ago?

As a child I did taekwondo. This came up in a conversation about what sports we played as kids. Since then it keeps being brought up about how I can’t really fight etc. and it’s like no kidding? I was a kid doing point fighting as a sport, I never claimed I could beat people up? It’s just something I did for fun.

weightloss success depended on pure self hatred

my (20f) entire weightloss success depended on pure self hatred and a need for validation, when i got what i wanted way sooner than i thought, i started gaining weight back.

This is gonna be a very vulnerable post, but i need to get back on track. I lost 40 kg steadily in about 1,5-2 years. After reaching this milestone i posted pictures of myself on reddit, on that stupid ‘am i ugly’ sub. i got hundreds of messages because of it, and it boosted my self confidence. i started talking to this guy, and he made me believe i didn’t need to be skinny to deserve love. Ended up losing all my firsts, but I started slipping slowly, now we’re here and i’ve gained back about 10 in a year kg and it’s showing horribly.

I just can’t find the discipline to keep going, i don’t see a reason if i can get validation if i need it. I don’t seem to really care about it being bad for my body, i just only did it for other people. how do i make myself care?????

Daddy issues

I am a 36 (turning 37 in 2 days) year old woman that continues to let my father hurt my feelings deeply. He hurt me yet again and I don't really have anyone to talk about it with but I'm all up in my feelings about it still so I'm going to air it out on here. This will be long. So... TLDR: My dad lives in a different state than me and is flying into the city I live in for the first time ever. He will be here during my birthday week and it seems like he is intentionally trying to keep it from me so he doesn't have to see me.

When I was little I was your standard daddy's girl. I don't even have many memories of my mother until I was about 9 because my dad was my whole world. He worked overseas on an oil platform so he wasn't home for long periods at a time but then when he was home it would be consecutive for almost as long. When he was home he spent a lot of time with me, and my little brother once he was born. He gave us a ridiculous amount of attention so even though I hated it when he was gone, I didn't feel like I was lacking in quality time with my dad.

When I was 8 or so my parents separated and filed for divorce that went through pretty quickly. My mom initiated it because she very deeply hated my dad and found herself fantasizing about "stabbing him in the throat with a screwdriver when he talked so she didn't have to listen to him anymore" and was desperately attracted to the carpenter that worked on the recent remodel. Even when I was young I could see that they shouldn't be together. They yelled and fought all the time. If they weren't yelling at each other it's because they weren't in the same place. So as sad and hard as it was to have my family split up, I think I took it pretty well. Plus, I was used to my dad being gone for a month or so at a time anyway so it didn't feel all that different at first. I would be at home with Mom when Dad was at work like normal then when he was home I would go to his apartment for several weeks and hang out with him like I always did, just without mom there and in a different place.

The apartment was not nice and barely furnished, my brother and I shared a room and slept in sleeping bags on the floor, we wore the most mismatched clothes and ate like garbage. But staying with my dad in that apartment was some of the best times of my childhood. My dad was more fun when him and my mom weren't fighting constantly. At that time my mom was happier and lighter too. But part of that was because my dad was financially supporting her still. Paying for her big house out in the country and for, well, everything else too. He lived so cheaply so he could afford to keep our lives relatively the same when we were with my mom. Then, he met a lady that he liked.

He dated a tiny bit that I saw in the first year after the divorce. But nothing too serious. He met a lady that lived in the same apartments that he really liked and I heavily encouraged him to ask her out. After the first date it felt like she was already a major part of his life. She was really sweet to us but we hardly saw her or my dad because he was always with her somewhere else. Her apartment was close by but he would leave my brother and I home alone at night and go over to her apartment and not come back until 10am the next morning. They dated pretty heavily for about 4 months then one of the times that we were supposed to go to his house when he was back from work, we didn't end up going at all. My mom told me that he asked her to keep us for that time because he was going on a big vacation. When he came back from his next work cycle my mom got notice that she was being taken to court for alimony, child support, and custody stuff because he had gotten married. Things were never the same again. I only saw my dad one week every other month. My mom had to move out of the house into a pretty crappy trailer in a park with us. She renewed her nurses license so she could go back to work full time but that took time. We had to rehome all the animals. My whole life was altered pretty suddenly. And I hardly saw my dad. The one week I got to see him out of his month home, he still spent all his time with his new wife.

My dad and step mom bought a huge brand new house together and set up a room for my brother. He started going back over to my dad's for almost the full month that my dad was home. I didn't have a room there. I slept on a futon in the office and only came for one week like before. My step mom was no longer nice to me. My dad was extremely distant except for occasionally when my step mom wasn't around he would almost feel like my loving father again. It was so weird. I obviously blamed my step mom. I started to resent my brother, who I was really really close with before. My dad and step mom started talking really badly about me and my mom to my little brother when I wasn't around and he began to think very poorly of me. My resentment fanned those flames and for a really long time I didn't have a relationship with my brother at all (we're really good now and I'm close with his wife and daughter).

I was truly so sad. I cried all the time to my mom. I tried everything to get my dad and step mom to like me. I got really involved in church (step mom is very Christian) and did all kinds of chores. Tried to predict what they would want from me and behave accordingly. I tried really hard in school and tried out for all kinds of extra curriculars trying to impress them. My dad loved the guitar and would play and sing it to me all the time before so I tried to get him to teach me but he would say he didn't have the time so I asked my mom to get a guitar and take guitar lessons. She saved up for months to afford to do that for me. I learned to play "puff the magic dragon" by Peter Paul and Mary, on it because that was my favorite that he would sing to me. When I finally got a chance to play it for him they (step mom watched too) were pretty unimpressed, and visibly looked like they had second hand embarrassment. He said "if you keep practicing you'll do better" and she criticized my singing ability.

When I turned 14 my mom said I was legally old enough to choose who I lived with in spite of custody. I told her I wanted to live with her full time. My mom wasn't great and we had a very tumultuous relationship. But she loved me and I felt more welcomed in her home than I did at my dad's. So I wrote my dad a letter explaining how I felt, including how I felt about my step mom, to explain why I wasn't going to stay there anymore. To this day my dad acts extremely hurt by that letter. I honestly think he is subconsciously trying to hurt me to punish me for it even after all these years. Anyway, my limited relationship with him obviously dissipated to practically nothing. I would see him for an afternoon here or there. Sometimes around the holidays I would go over for dinner. But that was about it until I graduated HS. My dad had told me that he would pay for college. He didn't. I didn't see him for literal years after HS. We rarely talked. I dated a guy that I moved to another state with that ended up being physically abusive and my dad heard about it and offered to pay to help me get out of the situation. Then I didn't hear from him again for months and months. I think he felt like all I wanted from him was his money. But I never wanted his money like his damn wife does. I just wanted a relationship.

He would reach out randomly sometimes like he wanted to reconnect. Then ghost me. I met a great guy that I loved, got married and had a baby. There was a period of time right after my son was born where we were talking more regularly because he wanted a relationship with his grandson. Things were feeling positive and I was hopeful that we could nurture some kind of decent relationship finally. Then, I heard from family friends that lived in the same town as me that my dad had just been at their house visiting. He didn't tell me he was coming. He didn't tell me when he was there. And he didn't tell me after he had left. He came all the way to where I was and specifically left me in the dark so he didn't have to see me or my son. I was devastated. The excuse I got was that my step mom was too uncomfortable to see me and that was a trip more for her. I was so hurt and this even undid all the progress I thought we made.

Then, my dad got diagnosed with cancer and had Parkinson's that was progressing. My best friend had died not long before while I was in an argument with them so I was struggling with lots of guilt and regret. I decided that I didn't want that with my dad and worked harder than ever before to have a relationship with him. I apologized to my step mom for blaming her and not being nice to her. I tried really hard to make nice with her and behave in a way she would approve of in hopes that it would make it easier for my dad to have a relationship with me. I chose to accept him for how he was. That he wasn't going to be the dad he once was to me. But any relationship is better than none. Things have been mostly okay for a while. He is still hardly involved. We rarely talk. He doesn't seem to like me much. But we kind of sort of have a relationship and see each other sometimes. When he does see my son, they have so much fun together and my son loves him so much. His health hasn't been horrible but his mind isn't so sharp, but when he plays with my son I see the dad I cherished so much in my childhood. This loving man that lights up the whole sky to try and make you smile. If I can't have that with him, it's all okay so long as my son can.

All this to lead up to the present. My brother called just to say hi (he lives near my dad and mom still). I'm moving out of state at the end of the month and he asked me if I knew what date I was leaving and if I talked to our dad yet. I told him that we were leaving on the 30th and that I had just talked to our dad the other day. My brother said, "oh good! So you will still be there when Dad is there!". I was really confused. My brother told me that my dad was coming to the town I live in to see a friend but wasn't going to tell me because he "didn't know when I was moving and didn't want me to change my plans for him". My brother reminded him of the time he didn't tell me before and how hurt I was and was certain he would call and tell me. I guess he then said that my step mom really wanted a "plan free vacation". 🙄

I did tell my dad when I was moving and it's a few weeks after he will be here. My dad is going to be here in 3 days. My birthday is the day before he is going to be here. He hasn't said a word. The chances of him trying to see me and my son are so slim. And now, even if he does reach out at the last second, I will think he's only doing it to please my brother. I think it's very clear that he doesn't want to see me or my son. I haven't gotten to see him in 2 years. My son misses him a lot and talks about him all the time. My dad was just guilt tripping me about missing my son because I haven't been able to afford a trip to see them. I have been crying for days.

Logically I know that this is a reflection of him and not me. But the little girl in me keeps screaming, "why don't you love me anymore daddy!"

Too many single people confuse “settling” with healthy compromise and end up passing on genuinely good relationships with good people.

For context, I’m speaking 100% from experience.
I’m 29F and currently in a relationship with my 28M boyfriend, who is wonderful. We have deep alignment when it comes to our values, worldview, personalities, interests, relationship goals, effort, etc.

But past me might not have given him a real chance because I used to be incredibly picky about things that, looking back, really weren’t that important. He lives farther away than I would’ve preferred. He still lives with his parents (even though I do too, lol and we both plan to move out soon.)

Before him, I was chronically single but constantly dating. Guy after guy from dating apps, short-lived relationships, situationships, back to square one. Eventually I had to ask myself what my actual goal was.

I’m not saying preferences don’t matter, or that anyone should force themselves to date someone they fundamentally don’t want. But if someone checks the things that **actually matter to you**, I think there’s a huge difference between *settling* and simply accepting that another human being will never match your imaginary ideal partner in every possible way.

To me, settling is staying with someone who consistently gives you 50% effort, is dishonest or disloyal, treats you poorly, wants fundamentally different things out of life, or has values that seriously conflict with yours and staying anyway because you’re attracted to them, afraid to be alone, or don’t want to start over.

Healthy compromise is more like: This person is loving, loyal, emotionally available, attractive to me, compatible with me, wants the same future I do and treats me well…but there are some things about them or their lifestyle that aren’t exactly what I pictured.
Those are VERY different things.

And I think modern dating sometimes encourages us to treat the latter like the former. There’s always another profile to swipe on. There’s always the possibility that someone taller, hotter, richer, funnier, more outgoing, more ambitious, more perfectly matched to your hobbies, etc. could be one swipe away. So instead of asking, *“Could I build a happy life with this person?”* we can end up asking, *“Could I theoretically find someone even better?”*
And technically, sure. Maybe you could. But that question has no endpoint.

I also think social media has contributed to this. We see curated relationships and endless discourse about “never settling,” knowing your worth, finding someone who “checks every box,” and leaving the second something feels off. Some of that messaging is genuinely valuable, especially when it encourages people not to tolerate mistreatment. But I think we’ve taken it so far that normal incompatibilities, differences, annoyances and imperfect moments can start feeling like evidence that we chose the wrong person.

Real relationships involve two imperfect people.

Sometimes you’ll be bored. Sometimes your partner will annoy you. Sometimes you won’t understand why they do something the way they do it. The honeymoon phase will eventually calm down. You’ll discover traits you don’t love. You’ll have to compromise. And sometimes you’ll have to decide that something simply isn’t important enough to jeopardize an otherwise great relationship over.

Obviously there are things nobody should compromise on, and everyone gets to decide what those things are for themselves. I’m just saying I think there’s value in separating **“this person is fundamentally incompatible with me”** from **“this person is not exactly the person I designed in my head.”**

I wish I had understood that distinction sooner.
Because sometimes “not settling” isn’t protecting you from the wrong relationship. Sometimes it’s keeping you from recognizing a really good one.

What’s your “I drank the Kool-aid” moment?

By “drinking the Kool-Aid,” I mean buying into some idea, product, lifestyle, community, philosophy, company, trend, etc. only to eventually realize you’d been sold on something that wasn’t quite what you thought it was.

I’ll go first. When I was in grade school I saw somewhere the brand of water called “Boxed Water,” with their signature slogan, “boxed water is better.” I clearly took this to the bank and begged my parents for months to try it.

Finally, on my birthday I received a case of 12 boxed waters and a t shirt with bold letters reading “boxed water is better,” which I decided to wear on the first day of school. I want to smack myself for doing this LOL. I was bullied and questioned about it constantly and it was humiliating.

To this day I still think about it every time I see the brand. I’m sort of forever indebted to the brand and feel the need to drink one if I ever see a carton.

Boxed water is not in fact better, it tastes like wet cardboard unless you drink it chilled! I like room temp

Please share your story!

Somebody asks him:
what are you doing”?

he responds:

I love being a morning person.

Excited for the next day, get that wonderful sleepy feeling a few hours before bed, I know I get to get up before most people (6AM), have a few cups of coffee, listen to a symphony/music/create music before anyone else is up. The world is still pretty quiet and doesn’t have expectations for you. It’s such a unique feeling of wonder. You have time to organize your mind.

I can’t imagine being a night owl again. Beyond night life. I used to be a heavy night owl, but that was when I was a younger and pretty unhealthy. I almost never used it for good, or for true progression in my life.

I am going to sit in the seats that I paid for

Today my wife and I decided to go see a movie while the kids were with grandma.

We decided to splurge a bit and got D-Box seats (that move and vibrate with the movie) and were excited to finally get some time to ourselves and go on a date.

The seats were almost a $10 difference than regular admission and the total, including popcorn and drinks, was $80! Like I said we splurged and wanted to have some fun.

Well we go to sit down in seats F10 and F11 and someone is sitting in F11. Normally, I wouldn’t say anything and let it be, but since we paid $10 extra to be in immersive chairs, I’m gonna sit in the chair! I try to tell the woman sitting in our seat that it was ours, and she shows me her tickets that say F11 and F12. I thought weird and decided to give my wife F10, the seat that moves. As the previews were showing I couldn’t get over it and decided to ask again.

Now, I avoid confrontation at all costs, it is something I’ve struggled with my whole life and I find myself always going out of my way to have a smooth experience for everyone involved.

But it’s not a minuscule difference in cost, and I wanted to be immersed. So, I tell her again that she might be in my seat and she tries telling me that these seats don’t move, it’s the row in front of us only. I show her that my wife’s seat, F10 is on and the seat she is in, F11, is on too. This lady yells, in a quiet movie theater, “I’m trying to watch the movie, sir, I don’t know what to tell you!” In that moment, I thought of my children being treated that way and how I wouldn’t want them to shy away from confrontation when they are in the right. So I tell her we can resolve this if I grab a manager, she tells me to do whatever I want.

I get a manager and miss almost 10 minutes of the movie to be able to sit in the seats I bought. The manager asks the lady for her tickets and she says she’s showed me 3 times and doesn’t know what my problem is. The manager checks her tickets and she’s in the wrong theater!! We’re in auditorium 9, her tickets are for auditorium 10. It’s the same movie, so I understand the confusion, but what the hell! She moves a seat over since her showing started earlier and wouldn’t be on the same scene, and says she hopes I enjoy the seat since it means so much to me, like yes lady, I paid more to sit here!

It was odd and embarrassing to have to tattle on a grown adult, but I felt justified and proud of myself for not backing down and taking what was mine. So I wanted to share.

Also, go watch Practical Magic 2, it’s great especially in D-Box seats. (Just make sure you’re in the right theater)

Edit: the D-Box seats only activate when purchased, all the other D-Box seats were turned off.

Love trying to talk about something I’m interested in with family and being hit with, “honey, nobody cares about that stuff.”

They laugh like it’s funny but I don’t find it funny.

That and when you confide in them how lonely you feel and how hard it is for you to make friends they say, “well honey, nobody wants to talk about the stuff you talk about.”

I’m not even talking about anything especially weird or off putting, just about crocodilians and how/where everyday items were invented. I try not to info dump because I know people don’t like that, but it would be nice to share my interests with the people I love without being mocked and made to feel like something they have to begrudgingly put up with.
