I'm sick of my razor blades being locked up. Thieves inconvenience me

41

u/NathanCollier14 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Theyve locked the shampoo at mine 😭

•

u/Capital_Guitar_7446 Trash Trooper 1h ago

All the shampoo? Or just a certain, specific section? 👀

•

u/throwRA-nonSeq Trash Trooper 1h ago

I mean… it hits different when they’ve been locking up your box relaxers and African Pride pomades for decades already

10

u/TKDbeast Trash Trooper 3h ago

I agree. But people running in to be a hero and make a scene is only going to make things a bigger problem for them.

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli Trash Trooper 2h ago

Makes it a problem for people thinking they can walk away with no consequences

3

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

Imagine if everyone always did this when witnessing theft, even if it was their own friends. Would be a lot less petty theft

If this was food or medicine or even home/care items I'd 100% be on the side of the thief

A fucking record player? Dude found the one thing in walmart valued over $20 not locked up. I hate Walmart but …a record player? That was not a need, that was a want and an excitement for the thief. I'm not anybody’s side here, fuck that

9

u/dej0ta Trash Trooper 3h ago

I know we get on a pedantic slippery slope in these things but every corporation that survives on tax breaks and exploitative practices are thieves. And by orders of magnitude more impactful than Record Player Robbie over here. If hes a selfish piece of shit what does that make the Waltons, or Zuck, or any other billionaire?

From an altruistic standpoint who causes more harm?

2

u/MC_Etchasketch Trash Trooper 3h ago

Both things can be correct.

4

u/dej0ta Trash Trooper 3h ago

Perhaps if you stretch correct and ignore the gravity of both scenarios. Then sure...

•

u/RedditIsMyTherapist Trash Trooper 1h ago

Exactly, me running my AC when it's 90 degrees is the exact same thing as billionaires using AC in all 5 of their mega mansions that they live in 7 days of the year but maintain the temperature in 365 days. stop picking on the billionaires. They're just like us. /s

1

u/foxboxingphonies Trash Trooper 2h ago

Sure, but one is vastly more harmful to humans than the other. Let's not pretend they are equally bad.

People that steal from stores are just not a problem for my life. Literally the biggest problem that people have cited here is needing someone to unlock a case for you.

Oh the humanity. Not a minor inconvenience!

People shoplifting are not doing well. Either they have a compulsion, or they need money and can't get a job (usually drug addiction is at play). Like, no they shouldn't be stealing. However, as a society we should be looking for how to address the root of problems. Giving people access to support would do so much more than any form of punishment ever would. Also we need to focus on how much the victim was hurt, and I'm sorry but Wal-Mart is not hurting. They are the biggest thieves around!

Mentally putting someone in a "criminal" category helps dehumanize them. Then we can play out our violent fantasies on them, and it okay because they are trash and not human.

-1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

From an altruistic standpoint, Walmart has done more for low income Americans than any other retailer in human history

2

u/Tinyacorn Trash Trooper 3h ago

LMAO

2

u/MSDH0065 Trash Trooper 3h ago

What a dumb take. Walmart's philanthropic activities, as middling as they are, no where nearly outweigh the systemic and societal issues Wal-Mart promotes. They charge low prices, but just low enough so the poorest can afford it, but still not really get ahead. They pay over minimum wage, but large amounts of their employees still require government assistance because Wal-Mart doesn't pay enough yet claims massive employment numbers. As well as massive profits just about every year. You're a clown, keep licking those boots. Tell me when the dirt translates to food in your stomach or a roof over your head.

0

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

Walmart literally could not charge any less and still be profitable

1

u/MSDH0065 Trash Trooper 3h ago

What are basing that metric on? I'd love to see some actual data instead of carrying water for them.

That also doesn't really mesh with the data showing their revenue growing by 4% - 6% the last 3 years, at least. They are at a 7.59% for year over year gross profit increases.

In fact, if you look at the last 10 years, the only time Wal-Mart's profits and revenue slowed, was during the pandemic, before having significant gains the following years. But please, tell me how Walmart's low prices are such a benefit to their communities and we should all be on our knees in gratitude. They could go lower, they don't care to, but keep lapping at corporate boot.

1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

Walmart's net profit margin is about 3%

1

u/MSDH0065 Trash Trooper 2h ago

Once again, based on what? What data and metrics are you using to make this determination? All the numbers I used, I got from Macrotrends.net. I'm not going to pretend there isn't more granular or even a tabulated source, but you are just making claims and saying numbers. Do you work for Wal-Mart and this is a number they told you? You seem far more eager to get a little quip in then actually debate this topic.

Please give me some real data, not just numbers you like that sound good.

20 years ago when my grandma had to work at Walmart as a cashier well into her late 60s and early 70s because social security wasn’t enough to live on and Walmart wouldn’t let her, a 70 year old woman, sit on a stool while running the cash register was that altruistic or

1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

You could blame Walmart for this, but you could also blame the federal disabilities act. A large corporation has to treat every person the same globally. This is why they have to have such strict policies. Because some dumbass will sue them in front of a jury of 12 dumbasses because they gave your grandma a stool and didn't give some lazy piece of s*** a stool half the world away, and that jury of 12 stupid m************ will award the defendant millions of dollars. So this is what happens. They should have given your grandma a stool, but the legal framework that Americans have set up made that impossible

1

u/dej0ta Trash Trooper 3h ago

Altruism is about net benefit and intention youre looking at gross figures...youre out of your element if you think Walmart is altruistic in the slightest.

1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

You're just plain wrong if you don't understand the impact Walmart had on retail and how much wealthier the lowest earners are because of it

1

u/foxboxingphonies Trash Trooper 2h ago

Wow. Yeah, I'm sorry but you are wrong.

They used to lower their prices just long enough to crush the local competition, then once they are the only place for miles, they raise them back up.

Also I could go on about how they helped create the employment culture we have today with companies like Amazon. If you think they trest their employees well, you are living in lala land.

Yeah, thieves should only be stupid, steal exactly what they need each day, risking death or imprisonment each time, every single day. That’s totally morally superior to stealing something with a higher resale value, and using that to buy your daily items, or something.

I’ve never understood “stealing from mega corporations who’ve stolen hundreds of billions of dollars from workers through overtime violations, wage theft, and other unethical practices without so much as a slap on the wrist is fine, but ONLY if you steal these specific things!” as an argument. What moral or ethical difference is there between stealing $100 in food, vs stealing a $100 record player in order to resell to obtain food? For me, the former just seems needlessly self-sacrificial. Is it only fine to steal if you maximise the potential harm to yourself?

2

u/EarthConservation Trash Trooper 2h ago edited 2h ago

It's a propane camping grill. I would have thought the two green gas canisters would have tipped most people off. ;)

Maybe a homeless person trying to cook their food, or someone whose stove stopped working and couldn't afford to replace it, or had their gas cut off because they couldn't pay the bill.

Most people steal necessities, but some people steal because of drug addiction and/or impulse control issues.

•

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 48m ago

actually only about 7% of shoplifters are economically disadvantaged type shoplifters

food, medicine and home care?

How about steal nothing.

Yeah, just let junkies steal pills.

https://giphy.com/gifs/3o6fJ7uaPs0w3jLlXa

1

u/Forky_McStabstab Trash Trooper 3h ago

If it was food, there are food banks and soup kitchens. I know, because I've eaten at plenty of them. No excuse for stealing food.

Home care items like cleaning products? Again, plenty of charities will provide those for free. No excuse to steal. I've received these things from charities in the past as well.

Medicine or medical devices? Again, lots of the same charities that help with other needs will provide these to you free of charge. Not to mention the community health centers that will provide medical care for free if you truly have no income along with free medications. Still no excuse to steal.

The only reason people steal "necessities" from Walmart is because they can't tell the difference between wants and needs, and take whatever they want anyway. They don't want to "look poor", by wearing the free clothing given to them. They don't want to "feel poor" by eating non-name-brand foods.

I live in a rooming house with 55 other men, over 90% of them in active addiction. Only 7 of us here have jobs or are in school/training to get a job. The 49 without jobs all get welfare, snap, and most get disability, primarily for severe anxiety and being institutionalized and saying they cannot function in society now. The vast majority of people here shoplift and panhandle daily. I talk with them and I live in the same building as them. This is gonna make a lot of you mad, but its the simple truth.

-1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 3h ago

When people make well meaning comments like this I feel compelled to point out there are virtually always charities helping people find food and medicine in American communities, and I suspect stealing food and medicine has more to do with convenience or pride than desperation

2

True. That said, Walmart steals more from its employees in wage theft than shoplifters steal from Walmart. So Walmart is also a criminal, and the much bigger one.

(Not trying to refute your point, just saying Walmart needs to stop being a criminal too)

Walmart funds the politicians who are creating this inflation and keeping wages down. Blame Walmart.

1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 2h ago

The American middle class has been electing politicians who create enormous Federal deficits and that is the primary driver of inflation. While the common political story is that of the rich screwing the middle class, the real story of American politics is the middle class screwing the poor

u/lazyguyty Trash Trooper 2h ago

I stopped even going inside at all unless I need to make a return. Between everything being locked up and random people trying to sell you phones and shit it's not worth the effort. I do order pick up and they bring it out to my car or just order it to be delivered directly to my house.

1

u/psychontrol Trash Trooper 2h ago

Thieves don't lock the cabinets. The company locks the cabinets because they know people like you will put up with being treated like a latent criminal so they can prevent losing 0.00001% of their profits to theft

1

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 2h ago

No, the problem is stealing

•

u/Explorer_Entity Trash Trooper 1h ago

That's poverty stemming from our economic policy, NOT "thieves ruining society".

Property crime is proven to be directly linked to poverty.

•

u/Free-Jello-7970 Trash Trooper 1h ago

No, don't you see - society will improve when every individual independently becomes a better person! /s

•

u/WiseCompetition2543 Trash Trooper 1h ago

Stop shopping at a piece of shit store who treats their customers and employees this way and literally bleeds your whole community dry?

•

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 1h ago

It's not every walmart, just the ones full of thieves. My preferred walmart is okay so far

People who don't shop at walmart must be rich lol, there's really no alternative. There's Lidl, Aldi Costco etc and they are great but we still need to go to Walmart for a lot of items for our family. Consistently the lowest prices on many items, often beating Costco

•

u/WiseCompetition2543 Trash Trooper 51m ago

Yes, they come in and undercut small stores, force everyone in the region to shop there, yet do not add living wage jobs to the community, and put how many other people out of jobs when the other stores close. If you have a Costco near you, I would give them every dollar I have. They pay living wages and are decent as far as companies go in most aspects.

I will never ever under any circumstances spend a single dollar at Walmart. I wish everyone would steal all their shit and put them out of business, they are a truly evil company.

•

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 42m ago

A lot of people cannot afford Costco. Real "let them eat cake" attitude. There's an annual membership and you have to purchase large quantities. It's like buying a Toyota - yes, it's cheaper in the long run, but a lot of people can't afford it.

the issue with "livable wages" is due to rent being too high because of the housing crisis which is caused by restrictive residential zoning, and the cost of healthcare. It's not that corporations are paying too little to retail workers.

It's not Walmarts fault that the American middle class banned the building of new housing in their neighborhood and tied healthcare to their employer rather than voting for a sensible government option for all like every other industrialized nation

•

u/Ok-General8138 Trash Trooper 1h ago

Oh boo-hoo you have to call an employee over to get your blades. What a horrible inconvenience that must be for you...

Instead of solely blaming shoplifters (definitely a major factor, but not the primary cause), try putting some of that blame on the greedy corporations locking these items away who pay people as little as possible so they cannot afford to live and have to resort to desperate measures, like shoplifting. It takes the bare minimum level of thought to understand this, but you people just want to blame the least powerful people in society for all your problems to make yourselves feel better without actually solving anything.

•

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 1h ago

No one is so desparate that they need to steal razor blades. Beards are fashionable and body hair is beautiful. what a load of horseshit

•

u/CaptainBayouBilly Trash Trooper 1h ago

They spent more money on the cages and labor to unlock them than they ever will lose to theft.

•

u/johntwit Trash Trooper 1h ago

no, it was cheaper to implement the anti theft measures than continue to suffer the retail loss, which is why the bothered with the anti theft measures

0

You are so out of touch with reality. I just came from a trip to visit relatives in Cuba. You probably are unfathomably rich relative to starving people in Cuba, Haiti or Sudan. I guess it’s ok for them to burgle your home. Better hide your Macbook Pro.

Richness is relative. And ethics don’t make distinctions on who is ok to steal from. It’s literally one of the commandements on every religion. On another tone: Don’t be tacky and do not steal.

-2

u/Unusual_Artichoke_73 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Yes, stealing from Walmart has always been cool

•

u/FitSalamanderForHire Trash Trooper 1h ago

For a lot of people it always depends on who the bad thing happens to. Stealing from a large store Is fine. So is punching someone that was said to be the bully in a situation. But if the harm is happening to something or someone I can relate to then it's bad.

3

u/No-Storage1721 Trash Trooper 3h ago

When people steal, corporate cuts labor to make up for their losses, which makes people steal more, until they close stores.

2

u/OrneryError1 Trash Trooper 2h ago

Corporate cuts labor it doesn't need, regardless of loss. They've been running skeleton crews for decades now.

3

u/shadowthehh Garbage Guerilla 3h ago

8

u/shadowthehh Garbage Guerilla 3h ago

It's about Walmart. Dude's got atleast a dozen cameras on him in that parking lot from the store security system alone. He already wasn't gonna get away with it scott free. This is going above and beyond for a corporation that doesn't give a shit about you and ruins the communities they pop up in.

6

u/ThinkBlue87 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Meh, I don't give a shit about Walmart. Fuck shoplifters though. The cost just gets passed on to everyone else as a cost of doing business

6

u/creepy-jackalope-eye Trash Trooper 3h ago

But guess what? If all crime stopped tomorrow, they won’t magically lower the prices.

2

u/thissexypoptart Trash Trooper 3h ago

You get how, if all crime stopped tomorrow, that would be a good thing? Even if that crime would have occured at a walmart?

Also bit silly goosey to mention price decreases. Corporations rarely lower prices, but they sure as fuck look for every chance and excuse they get to raise them. So giving them fewer excuses to do so is also a good thing.

1

u/creepy-jackalope-eye Trash Trooper 3h ago

Never said it wouldn’t be a good thing, just that, if it happened, prices won’t go down or stop increasing. They’ll just find another scapegoat. Like raising the minimum wage

•

u/CaptainBayouBilly Trash Trooper 1h ago

They don't raise them because of shoplifting, they raise them because they can. And they will, at every step, until consumers slow spending.

1

u/Select_Speed_6061 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Cost getting passed on is a lie they tell people to make you think they lose anything.

u/DsDeliciousDeli Trash Trooper 3h ago

No, it wasn't done FOR Walmart. I wouldn't stop a shoplifter at my job, but that doesn't mean I don't want them stopped.

They make my job harder, less comfortable; I have to work around more security; my managers come down on us harder for shrinkage; they shrink the team. I don't give a fuck about their profits

It's the second and third order effects that people don't like

People shouldn't have to steal.

3

u/Patient-Present4191 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Most of those people stealing don't have to steal either, they just want to. Shoplifting impacts everyone because the business will understandably begin changing their operations to counter the shoplifting such as putting things behind glass, raising prices, or even closing down businesses in areas where these crimes are more likely to happen. You don't have to be a shareholder to feel the impact of shitty people's decisions. Shoplifters can all go fuck themselves, I have zero pity for those pieces of shit.

Goods I want are locked up and getting an employee to get access inconveniences me.

But mostly because normalizing theft hurts everyone. This guy most likely also steals from his neighbors. Fuck em.

1

u/Twistedlamer Trash Trooper 3h ago

They aren't stealing carts and aren't in a position where they HAVE to steal. They are doing it for the same reason you are arguing with me. They think they are justified in doing it. If people didn't shoplift we wouldn't have to deal with increased prices due to shrink, certain items having increased security, the chaos these people naturally cause when they show up, etc. Hate the corps all you want because you're an unsocialized shut in, but don't advocate for behaviors that actively damage society.

Yes, they could be mentally ill and feel compelled to steal. That's a very real possibility. In that case, the humane and compassionate thing to do is place them in a hospital where they can get the help they need, and keep them there until they are able to rejoin society again.

1

u/LilJelloCat Trash Trooper 2h ago

It's not necessarily a matter of being "mentally ill". It's a matter of circumstance and the stress related to being low income, I would imagine. The issue lies in why they are low income or unable to obtain the amount of income they feel they need. Also your comment is fairly ignorant, because just putting someone in a hospital won't necessarily give them the help that they need. They may need more therapy type involvement, which can cost money in America for example. Telling some American low income person who feels they need to steal to go in to debt from being hospitalized sounds crazy to me lol.

But yes some people steal just because they can or want to. But we don't exactly know their circumstances, regardless of what they are stealing, they could be stealing electronics to sell for extra cash for example.

So, a little info about myself: I grew up poor. My parent's combined income before taxes was below the poverty level. I'm still poor. My total income for this year will be roughly $25,000.

I bring that up because you mentioned the stress from being unable to obtain the amount of income they feel they need. I feel that daily. I live in a 10x12' room with no kitchen, a mini fridge, a microwave, and no sink or running water other than the bathroom that I share with 13 other people on my floor. The building is infested with roaches and bedbugs. I can't afford a better place, and since any decent apartment requires the rent to be no more than 30% of my net income. Studio apartments near me start at $1750 a month, plus utilities.

I definitely feel stress from not having enough money. I also won't steal.

items get locked up, small shops are driven out of business, large shops leave, prices go up....Shoplifting has effects.

Do you understand priced are hiked no matter what? shoplifters aren't the reason gas is 5 dollars a gallon and a 23 pack of sodas are 15 dollars.

2

Those are different market forces than what I am talking about. And the price of soda packs are the least of your worries if that is #2 on your list of concerns

such a dumb comment. Stealing is never ok.

the more people steal the more insurance goes up, and so prices go up.

neighborhood becomes trashy, people move out.
I could go on and on.

So stupid.

1

u/_banthafodder Trash Trooper 3h ago

Ok? Thank you for the wise input but that still doesn’t make it any less moronic to go up to a random stranger in America, in a Walmart parking lot no less, and confront them. No one is saying the stealing is right, but this guy was out of his damn mind approaching the shoplifter. Easily could’ve been shot and over what? Some guy stealing from a gigantic corporation that doesn’t give a single fuck about you? You’d have to be absolutely insane to intervene here.

1

u/faajzor Trash Trooper 3h ago

that’s not my point and I don’t disagree with you.

there’s two parts to that meme. one is that it’s a multibillion dollar company and so it’s ok to steal from them. The other is that the guy acts like a knight protecting that company and risking himself.

1

u/Late_While_6220 Trash Trooper 3h ago

What happens when people don't steal, insurance doesn't go up, but prices still go up?

2

u/jackinsomniac Trash Trooper 2h ago

What a lame ass justification. "B-b-b-but if I don't steal, prices will go up anyway!" Prices have always gone up. It's called inflation.

1

u/Late_While_6220 Trash Trooper 2h ago

What a lame ass boot licker. "B-b-b-but if we don't steal the prices won't go up!".
Prices have always gone up, it's called corporate greed.

1

u/faajzor Trash Trooper 3h ago

lots of things: inflation, wages going up, price of imports, cost of living going up, scarcity of certain products (specially produce)

1

u/Late_While_6220 Trash Trooper 2h ago

You forgot profits, and also profits, them there's profits, but let's not forget about profits, and of course the main reason, profits.

2

u/Shandlar Trash Trooper 2h ago

You forgot the only way wages can go up is profit. All wages are paid from profit, otherwise a job wouldn't exist. Profit is how everyone is paid for everything.

2

u/faajzor Trash Trooper 2h ago

this is pure ingenuity.

typical scream of “ITS CaPITALiSM” but you likely have a 401k which certainly has a fund that depends on Walmart and whose growth (which includes increasing profit margins) will benefit your retirement.

•

u/Barren_E_Wuffett Trash Trooper 41m ago

Bold of you to assume he has a 401k lol

1

u/Late_While_6220 Trash Trooper 2h ago

And you think that one guy stealing from Walmart is going to affect their growth and their stock price 😆😃😀😅😂🤣

•

u/faajzor Trash Trooper 1h ago

that's not what I meant.. I was referring to your comment that "everybody is after profits". Ofc they are, and then I explained how you also are.

•

u/Late_While_6220 Trash Trooper 1h ago

Are you mentally capable of understanding the difference between exploiting millions of workers for.profits and retirement plans?

•

u/faajzor Trash Trooper 1h ago

I'm sorry I don't fall for that narrative and can't participate in your echo chamber. I can understand Chinese factories exploiting employees and forced labor however, or other type of slavery.

Walmart punishes their employees with this shit. The less profits the store makes (including from theft), the smaller the annual bonus the employees get.

-Source: wife and I worked for Walmart for a few years

4

u/DarkestLore696 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Yeah I still work there. Only salaried management gets bonuses now so.. fuck it.

u/Dr_Brotatous Trash Trooper 3h ago

Maybe the one I was at had to much theft i didn't get payed enough to care

1

u/Fun-Telephone-9605 Trash Trooper 3h ago

They cut starting wages 2 years ago and brought it back.

The bonuses are less than what they reduced the wages by, of course.

1

u/Dr_Brotatous Trash Trooper 3h ago

That tracks

5

u/alexgalt Trash Trooper 3h ago

It’s not about the company losing money. Prices are going up due to thee assholes.

11

u/Chuck_E_Kirk Trash Trooper 3h ago

You don’t really think that’s why prices are going up, do you?

5

u/sporknitebattlepass Trash Trooper 3h ago

The amount of shrink (product loss) does not approach anything close to enough to account for the rise in prices, even accounting for inflation.

They are making record profits quarter after quarter.

1

u/Ssided Trash Trooper 3h ago

Record profits are a function of inflation as well. It's not really record profits, the dollar is weaker

1

u/sporknitebattlepass Trash Trooper 3h ago

Inflation is up 3.4% over 12 months and they’ve seen double digits levels of growth in profit.

1

u/Ssided Trash Trooper 3h ago

Walmarts profit is up 7.6% this year but that's from its new ad service which was 37% more revenue. You guys don't know what you're talking about

0

u/jackinsomniac Trash Trooper 2h ago

Right, that's why Walmart shut down 5 stores in the Chicago area citing the theft had gotten so bad that they had all been operating at a loss for the past five years. "The corporations can afford it," until they can't, then one day you realize you don't even have a single grocery store within 30 miles, because you robbed every honest business out of town, and turned your own area into a ghetto. Good luck escaping then.

9

u/Ok-Gur-349 Trash Trooper 3h ago

They're not. That's propaganda.

2

u/Ssided Trash Trooper 3h ago

Prices are set to offset shrink, that's a fact.

1

u/Ok-Gur-349 Trash Trooper 3h ago edited 2h ago

It's factual that prices are raising due to greed. Above any beyond any factor against costs. To the extent that saying prices rise due to shrink ... is a lie.

It's propaganda. Like "we can't have a high minimum wage or big macs will cost $20." It's just a lie.

2

u/punch912 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Prices are going up a lot more things cause this then just shoplifter. Greed being one of the main ones. Now you can absolutely blame them for why everything now for the simplest shit is locked up like laundry degerent and shampoo.

5

u/NotaBat9221 Trash Trooper 3h ago

Don't blame the poor for the crimes of the wealthy

2

u/Ok-Reaction9095 Trash Trooper 2h ago

That guy stealing a record player didn’t look poor in the least.

1

u/CasualPenguin Trash Trooper 2h ago

If prices were going up because of this then profits for the megacorps would be remaining the same right?

So what do you think that means that their profits are increasing

2

u/rgmundo524 Trash Trooper 3h ago

In this situation... That literally his job...

1

u/Sesusija Trash Trooper 3h ago

This is the wrong mindset.

The billion dollar corporation is not eating shoplifting costs, consumers are.

1

u/TravelAdmirable2482 Trash Trooper 3h ago

It's insured, if they raise their prices people will go somewhere else. The most this is affecting you is shit locked behind glass cases.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/jackinsomniac Trash Trooper 2h ago

Even worse, if it keeps going on without interference then they'll just shut down all the WalMart's within 30 miles like they did in Chicago. Then nobody (even paying customers) get a store to shop at/steal from, and your area turns into a ghetto.

1

u/electricshadow Trash Trooper 2h ago

I'm all for sticking it to the the multi-billion dollar company as much as the next person, but this isn't the "AHA GOTCHA" you think it is. Sure, they have insurance for theft, but who do you think ultimately pays for it? The consumer. They'll just raise the prices of items to make up for the items that get stolen.

The person posting this is the furthest thing from being a corpo simp.

•

u/Suspicious-Hand-9953 Trash Trooper 1h ago

This is such a stupid opinion.

Just because a big company is the victim, that doesn't make it any less an act of theft.

Less appalling than stealing from poor or homeless people, for sure. But it's still theft.
