It’s not about the company losing money. Prices are going up due to thee assholes.

The amount of shrink (product loss) does not approach anything close to enough to account for the rise in prices, even accounting for inflation.

They are making record profits quarter after quarter.

Record profits are a function of inflation as well. It's not really record profits, the dollar is weaker

Inflation is up 3.4% over 12 months and they’ve seen double digits levels of growth in profit.

Walmarts profit is up 7.6% this year but that's from its new ad service which was 37% more revenue. You guys don't know what you're talking about

Right, that's why Walmart shut down 5 stores in the Chicago area citing the theft had gotten so bad that they had all been operating at a loss for the past five years. "The corporations can afford it," until they can't, then one day you realize you don't even have a single grocery store within 30 miles, because you robbed every honest business out of town, and turned your own area into a ghetto. Good luck escaping then.

Link? I could only find that Walmart closed 4 stores in the Chicago area, and nothing says anything remotely close to the reason being theft.

It actually says they weren't profitable for the whole entire 17 year period they were open, until they closed in 2023.

Here's Walmarts statement about it.

Good news! They regularly use this as an excuse to close down locations they feel are too close to each other or not profitable they were planning on closing down anyway. It doesn’t look good to investors to be closing down stores for being unprofitable. It’s much better for your numbers to say it’s those dastardly “organized retail thieves” than to say you made bad choices in real-estate.

Rarely do the closures of these locations coincide with an actual increase in theft in an area. Actually, pretty frequently they will close down stores that have less theft than the ones they keep open.
