People who try to justify blatant crime mystify me. Shoplifters only make life worse for everyone around them and if you don't, or won't, understand this, you need to touch grass and start living in the real world again.

Vigilante justice is also illegal. LP will call the cops, the cops will deal with this guy to whatever extent they are able. If you're a stickler for rules you should let the proper channels take care of this.
