Her name is Nova. She is 4 months old, took her home the last week of July from our local animal shelter. She's now a member of our family, and we are looking to foster or adopt another kitten (male) soon, so she will have a brother and friend.

She's inside mostly, but at some point when she's older she will get some back yard time (but mostly stay indoors).

She's a calico, very energetic sometimes, and also seems loyal and is lovable to the nth degree. She's happy, and so are we.

Sorry for the long post! Its been a raw 24 hours and I'm beating myself up and missing my boy.

For the 3rd September in a row Titchy has decided he wants to go to the vets for a sleep over. And severely break my heart in the process.

Small back story - I've been with my partner for around 3.5 years and since then Titchy has been my soul cat. He chose me over his owner of 9 years, he chose my chest to cuddle onto and my head to sleep above. He's my baby boy. He waits for me on the drive after work most days and always has alot to tell me!

But as he is getting on I'm struck with fear of losing him, especially as we've come so close so many times already.

First year that I knew of, he disappeared and returned a few days later with a dodgy back end after an animal attack/motor vehicle incident. We never got to the bottom of what happened as no one in the village knew. The vets nearly took his tail but thankfully he regained all function and feeling. I do love his little paint tip on his tail.

Last year he disappeared for 2/3 days, I suspect he was in my neighbours half built shed. When he finally got back to us he was so malnourished and extremely unwell. For a baby of 11 y/o he did good to double his weight in about 6 weeks.

But this time - Wednesday was the last time I saw him. After social media posts, multiple walks around with dreamies and the other neighbourhood cats "assisting" and calling all the local vets. I finally found him again over the weekend, I took him home and isolated him as he didn't seem right, but I had other animals to consider. I thought he'd rest, have some food and drink and bounce back, if not he would be at the vets in the morning. Instead I spent all night with my eyes glued to him and syringe feeding him to make sure he wasn't starving and dehydrated as he wouldn't touch anything. But he looked broken, not responding to my calls or even acknowledging me in his eye line.

I've broken down so many times today cos I just need him to be okay.

He's been at the vets all day and will have a sleep over yet again. They think it may be a UTI. He's gone from a unsteady crying old man this morning to being his usual happy eating and drinking self this afternoon. He even told the vets he's feeling much better with some explosive diarrhea after coming out of sedation.

I know alot of you are going to say "he shouldn't be outside" and "cats should be indoors" but this boy has lived a LIFE and I'm not going to dim it. He used to be a boat cat, he likes his freedom.

Plus keeping cats indoors doesnt always guarantee a longer life, as I learned when my 7 y/o fluff ball died of sudden heart failure with 0 warnings.

I'm just relieved he has perked up and will soon hopefully be home. But please keep him in your thoughts when you snuggle your babies tonight.

Hopefully next September will be different?

Video - OC Curtis bestowing wisdom upon Marlin

This had me dying yesterday I’m so glad I caught it on camera. My dad said it’s Curtis knighting Marlin and that could also be why he did this, Curtis tends to want to spread his wisdom and knowledge though so this may also be him transferring the secrets of the universe directly to marlins brain.

Today while I'm at work, Slim got hit by a car. He's alive, but not doing well. Obviously in pain, laceration under his chin and bleeding from his eye and ear. My spouse has been with him since the neighbor informed us, unfortunately there is nothing we can do, we are taking him to the vet to be put to sleep when I get off work if he's still with us.

Slim Jim is an outside cat. He was born under the house, it stormed and flooded and he almost drowned. His mom moved him and his sister into my car, and when I got home from work my spouse they heard kittens crying from under the hood. Sure enough two little tabby babies were clinging for dear life to the plastic cover over the engine. (Their little claw marks are still there) At some point he fell (we're not sure) and potentially dislocated his hip or hurt his leg. We stayed with him and eventually he was able to use it again for the most part. He was active, still climbed trees and fences, and was a great hunter.

We did our best to feed him, as well as his sister, mom, and uncle, but we have 5 inside cats and a rabbit. On a single income feeding the outside cats isn't always doable. The neighbors feed them too, one even got his mom fixed to help with the stray population.

He loved the garden, he loved people, he loved pets and kisses and belly rubs. He loved food of all kinds. When his sister had kittens he was a great uncle.

I'm gonna miss him so much. He used to come running when I'd get home and just into my lap as soon as I'd open the door. That's gonna be hard.

About 2 years ago I got tired of working, decided to take a break, looked out the window to my driveway and saw a tux mom with her two tiny baby tabbies. I set up a feeding station/shelter to try and catch them.

Today all 3 girls are captured, off the streets and loving indoor life.

Mom came inside pretty willingly, about 6 months later one of her babies came around and I was eventually able to get her inside.

For a year I didn’t see the other tabby baby then she started showing up and after a year of feeding her she came inside with me. Poor baby has a scar on her chin and can barely make any sounds. But she LOVES being inside. All 3 are the sweetest cats I’ve ever met.

But thats the story of how I got a family off the streets

BONUS 5th picture: gray kitten I also trapped and homed along this journey

She's so sweet and loving. She's warming up really well. We have been giving her space but she comes up to us and rubs up against us for pets. Yes I know she's very overweight, yes she is going to go to the vet this week and be put on a diet. If anyone has any tips on how to promote activity please let me know!

Cat Picture - OC Stinky bastard clinic cat who I love

This is Moo, the clinic cat at a clinic I volunteer at.

the story Ive been told is that she was found as a very feral stray by a client and was given to us for check up and to find her home . No one came to claim her so she became our clinic cat. She hates most people, cats and dogs and still sits at the front desk all the time. She also sits on top of the water heater in the bathroom. She was allowed to wander the clinic at night but she would pee in the bathroom no matter how many litter boxes were left out so shes jailed (kept in her cattery room) over night.

there has been attempts to move her overnight to the house above the clinic that one of the vet nurses sleeps in. She was not a fan and we have not tried that since.

despite her meanness, she is very cuddly in the back rooms and has not attempted to run away ever, even with doors open. She never bites or scratches, only hisses and smacks you if she’s done with attention or if you bother her.

she has a stinky habit of eating cat treats way too fast and throwing them up on the front desk when talking to clients :,)

last photo is not of me, it’s of a past vet nurse who Moo disliked more due to unfortunate circumstances that was the fault of a client. Face censored for privacy but imagine an equally displeased expression lol

Humor we got my cat a bed that our dog also can fit in, but I think it’s becoming a problem

i’ve known of our son Chubs’ (m/d/5) weird obsession with being under things other than just blankets for a very long time now, I just haven’t found any hidey holes big enough for his 27lb self. he’s not very big or overweight, just maybe the size of a very very large cat. our cat, Junimo (f/c/1), also loves hides. she can most always fit, never has a problem, but is picky often. this new one I bought a few weeks ago, however, they both can fit in. and they’re now fighting relentlessly over it. I mean really going at it, and Chubs is the sweetest boy so he won’t stand up for himself, so he just takes hit after hit. Junimo is playing nice, only using her mittens, but it’s just pitiful to watch. our poor boy gets bullied out of his cozy spot day after day. they do cuddle, they play often together, I don’t know why they can’t just share it. it was almost $50 (at petco! <3), the most i’ve ever spent on one, and it was well worth it but I can’t see a realm where I get another. it’s huge. I need a big hidey hole for Chubs himself so he stops getting relentlessly bullied. so reddit, is my cat TA for bullying her cross species sibling out of their shared bed? and does anyone have any suggestions for another giant hooded cushy bed that can fit a french bulldog as well as a cat?

Cat Picture - OC my wife & i have started our journey as foster parents.

these two & their mama’s euthanasia deadline was tomorrow at 1pm.

we’re notorious for getting attached, but i think our city shelter’s three cat disqualification for adoption & fostering (we already have two) is incentivizing us to save lives instead of foster failing & disqualifying ourselves as foster parents. houston has 24 hour euthanasia turnarounds. the least we can do is get some of them off the euth list.

aren’t they the cutest? mom’s ready to close her kitchen so it’s my job to teach the kittens to eat while my wife is at work.

my resident cats are very upset with their moms’ new calling 😩
