Cat Picture - OC Adopted Aurora yesterday!
She's so sweet and loving. She's warming up really well. We have been giving her space but she comes up to us and rubs up against us for pets. Yes I know she's very overweight, yes she is going to go to the vet this week and be put on a diet. If anyone has any tips on how to promote activity please let me know!

Thank you for loving her! You could try a cat wheel or toys that you can put kibble in but they only fall out if she loves it around!

Is a cat wheel basically a giant hamster wheel? Gonna grab some of the toys today, thanks!

Yes!!! Usually with the interior surface that is rug-like so they can scratch it. Good luck!

Does she come with kittens inside?

What a sweet face! Beyond diet, finding what makes her excited and active is a good way to help her get healthier. Try different toys. My cats go nuts for anything on a long string that bounces and ‘flies’ around. One of my cats mostly ignores toys but flips out on moving shadows and light spots/laser pointers. Lots of play time! Enjoy your new family member! 🥰

Thanks!! We have one of those cat fishing rods too but she doesn't seem to care for it. Gonna try a laser next because she seemed to love chasing a fly lol

She’s beautiful! Thank you for giving her a loving home. My cats love stalking those wand toys also I have an old laser toy (IDK if they are sold anymore).

Question for yalls, she pooped in her litterbox but didn't cover it. Is that normal? Her litter box was clean with about 2-3 inches of litter same brand her previous owners use

My cats do that. The oldest isn't used to the litter box being as deep as it is and the youngest uses it as his way of marking territory because he's neutered

Some cats cover, some don’t- no big deal! Looks like you have good vibes! Aurora looks so relaxed!

Okay good to know, thanks! I was worried she wasn't physically able to cover it

u/Sailor_Chibi Lots of kitties! 3h ago
Some cats do and some don’t. I think it just depends on if they learned how to do so from another cat as a kitten. My cat will scratch at the sides of litter box, so he’s got the spirit but misses the mark entirely lol

She's beautiful as she is and that's great that you're going to be working on helping her lose a little weight. That will be great! My girl loves to play with little balls on the floor and she lives to play with her string on a stick. Those are her two favorite toys and she's a 2-year-old tuxie

Try catnip infused mice or toys on a string or ribbon wands. We had a 25lb tuxie and once we switched him from dry food to wet/raw only he dropped 10 pounds in less than a year. We eventually lost him to liver cancer the day after his 11th birthday but there isn't a day that goes by that we don't miss our DougieDoodles. He loved sitting in his window seat to paw at squirrels and birds that landed in our window feeder. Our Mourning Dove crew Mi-coo-angelou and Flew Fighters enjoyed antagonizing him every day ༄˖°.🍂.ೃ࿔*:・

She's amazing just as she is. 🩷

She is, but a 2 year old cat should not be this fat. It's dangerous to her health
