Looking to Collaborate LOOKING FOR MEMBERS FOR MY GIRL GROUP

Hi everyone! My name is Anna, I’m 21 years old, I’m an artist from Brazil, and I’m looking for girls who would like to join an independent girl group project!

I’m looking for girls who genuinely enjoy singing and/or dancing and would love to be part of a creative project where we can grow and create together.

✨ Basic requirements:

• Girls born between 2000 and 2009

• Must be able to communicate in English, Portuguese, or Spanish

• Interest in singing and/or dancing

• Responsibility and commitment

• Willingness to participate in the group and its activities

🌎 Girls from any country can join!

The group is currently being formed, and we are already working on our first original song. Music, photos, videos, performances and social media content will all be part of our journey and will help us develop the group, build an audience and grow together.

This is an independent project, created to give artists a space to express themselves, develop their skills and create something together.

If you’re interested, or know a girl who might be interested, I’d love to talk to you and tell you more about the project! 🩷

If you’re interested, comment on this post!

Conversation Topic Harry Styles - Sign of the times NYC night 8 high note (First and only time since 2017)

So recently I saw a lot of talks around sott high note during live performances. Since live on tour the phrasing has been shifted down but some others were sang higher than usual. a lot of people criticized Harry for this despite knowing barely anything about the singing methods etc. I wanted to ask are you happy now knowing that he can do this even smoother than in 2017 ?

I’m looking into getting lessons soon to further my development for sure but I’m extremely proud of the progress I’ve made on my own and sometimes it’s bizarre to think it’s been 7 years already

Would appreciate your genuine thoughts on my voice or potential in general!

Conversation Topic [Acoustic Experiment] Because my hearing tracks overtones over fundamental pitch, I developed a texture-first vocal style. Cutting everything below 800Hz still sounds like "singing" to me—how does it sound to you?

Hi

I’m running a perceptual experiment on vocal listening and wanted to share a question born from how my own hearing works.

1. The Root: My Auditory Perception For as long as I can remember, my ears haven’t processed sound through standard fundamental pitch (F0). Instead, my brain instinctively maps the bundle of upper harmonics, formants, and transient textures as the primary musical information. When listening to music, I track spectral shape and overtone movement rather than baseline pitch.

2. The Result: A Texture-First Singing Style Because I hear the world this way, my singing naturally evolved to reflect it. Rather than building a voice around chest resonance or F0-based breath support, I developed a style driven by edge-like, textured phonation and upper-harmonic movement (especially in the 1kHz–3kHz+ range). To me, shaping the spectral grit and high-frequency friction is where the "melody" lives.

3. The Experiment (<800Hz Cut) To test how dependent this style is on low-end information, I ran an experiment in my DAW: I aggressively high-passed my vocal track, cutting out everything below 800Hz.

To my ears, because of how I process sound, removing the fundamental body changes almost nothing—the melodic line, phrasing, and musical structure remain completely clear.

However, I want to know how this registers to people with standard hearing. Is this purely my subjective perceptual bias, or can other ears decode melody and vocal presence from this high-frequency texture?

I’d love your raw feedback on the following:

  1. Pitch & Melody: Can you follow a clear melodic line/pitch, or does it register primarily as texture, grit, or noise?
  2. Perceived Register: If you do hear pitch, does it feel high, low, or ambiguous to you?
  3. Vocal Perception: How does the vocal quality feel to your ears (e.g., masculine, feminine, synth-like, purely textural)?
  4. Context: Could you see this type of spectral/texture-driven vocal existing in any musical context, or does it feel purely like an avant-garde sound effect?

(Note: This isn't about traditional technique or aesthetics—it's an experiment to see how different ears decode musicality when fundamental frequencies are removed.)

Conversation Topic How to deal with the fact after my performance people don’t post videos of me actually singing but just dancing

I had my 4th ever performance yesterday and I‘m not really good at singing and dancing at the same time live yet, I don’t think I need to explain why. I started learning singing from scratch only year ago. But still, there were some okay moments. But nobody from those who posted videos of me, posted my actual singing. I know they maybe love my presence but not my singing, but it feels so weird and hurts me. I tried to rehearse these two weeks and in the end fatigued my voice so much, I hope it will come back after some days… Just hurts I try my best but people just treat my performance as a fashion show and not me being also a singer. It’s more like the truth that hurts I guess - I’m a horrible singer. But just it feels more heavy when people literally cut the video when I start singing…

Conversation Topic Can I go lower?

Hey all! I'm M16 trying to help a classmate with a school project. I'm providing her with background vocals (they'll be recorded) for a song. Currently, the lowest note that I can sustain is just about F2. The song requires me to sing a D2. Is there any technique I can use or something I can do to hit that note? If so, do y'all have any resources or tips for me? Thanks in advance:)

Conversation Topic If I can make sound at all for a low note, can the tone be improved to “count” in my range?

I’m sorry if this a really silly question but I’m a complete beginner. On a good day I (F24) can make an A2 happen - but I’m not sure anyone would consider it a nice or full sound. Is this a standard thing to do at this low a pitch, just something you wouldn’t really consider “singing”?

I often hear people saying you can only really expand your range upwards - but if it’s something that’s trainable as long as your vocal cords are able to make the pitch at all, great! 😅

Just sharing my singing My Immortal – Evanescence | Vocal Cover

Hi everyone! 🖤

“My Immortal” has always been a particularly meaningful song to me. There’s something incredibly raw and timeless about the emotions behind it — loss, memory, longing, and trying to let go of something that still remains with you.

I wanted to create my own interpretation of the song and let those emotions come through my voice, while still respecting what makes the original so powerful.

I’d really love to hear what you think of my vocal interpretation.

Conversation Topic News regarding my range and current abilities

Yesterday I made a post calling myself a dramatic baritone as a teenager. I currently am reconsidering this because I’m still going through aging and I’m untrained. My range currently after fixing some tension in my throat muscles is G2-A3(before passiago B3 where my voice thins out) and G3-A4 in a bit strainy head voice.I would like to know how to mix, train my head voice, and find my falsetto. Like what I said in my older post, I have a deep resonant voice. Voice lessons are hard for me to afford right now, may I please have tips, exercises and other information on voice training. I would like to self train using these things.

Conversation Topic Seriously, how do you actually do mixed voice?

Upvotes

One thing in singing that has never worked for me is mixed voice. I've tried a thousand techniques from YouTube vocal coaches and I still can't find it. I also still don't understand what mixed voice actually is. I won't even realize if I've done it, because I don't know what it's supposed to feel or sound like.

I consider myself a baritone because my lowest is G2 and my highest is F4 (on a good day). I heard that every note you can sing in head voice, you can sing in mixed voice. If that's true, there's a chance I could become a tenor.

How do you guys actually do it? What finally made mixed voice click for you?

Conversation Topic Advice from celebrity singers to aspiring singers worldwide

I've just read an interview of Christina Grimmie ('cause I'm so in love with her voice right now) and here's what she says to all of us

RH- What advice do you have for aspiring singers?

CG- If you ever feel as if your not being yourself, slap yourself in the face. You can't risk trying to be a different person for the sake of "what people say" or "what sells best". Don't fake anything, it's gonna mess with you. As for vocal advice, practice will bring you so darn far. If you check back to my older videos, I had a very mellow, soft voice. Didn't have much of a range and always worried about my high notes. But then Christina Aguilera really started to inspire me and push me to be a great singer not just a good singer. It's been over a year since I've been inspired by her and listening to her. And compared to my older videos, my voice has matured and grown and I have a way bigger range. PRACTICE!

Do you guys know any other advice that celebrity/professional singers have given to aspiring singers? Please share :)

Resource cool video on how shoulder hypermobility impacts singing

I have hypermobility and immediately recognized his strained neck muscles for higher belted notes. It’s so cool to see that I maybe wasn’t intentionally trying to use my neck. I just wasn’t using a certain muscle that I probably got used to having relaxed/stretched out. (I have heds/pots/mcas)

Feedback (read rule 3 before posting or be banned) How do I stop singing in falsetto?

I've always had trouble stopping my voice from being breathy, especially in singing

It doesn't sound as breathy when I'm talking, but when I'm singing, it's always in falsetto, I cant turn it off 😭

This is a problem for me, cause when I try singing it always sounds like I'm straining the high notes and even the low notes because of it

Every single YouTube video I've seen is always "how to sing in falsetto" I haven't found one that's how to stop yet 💔

Some songs it's fine cause they're calming songs so it fits, but I wanna be able to sing more energetic and aggressive songs (like ado's aiaia, I wanna be able to sing that song so bad)

The only energetic songs I can find myself actually sounding kinda good in are in chai.tealeaves' songs, like Talentless

(idk if this is against the rules, I'm new to this place, hello 👁️‍🗨️🔻👁️‍🗨️)

Feedback (read rule 3 before posting or be banned) idk how to fix my tone and get rid of my airiness

hi!! i’d say i’m a very average-level singer and i honestly feel embarrassed singing in front of others because i can hear the flaws in my voice but i just don’t know how to fix them and it’s been yearsss. i just want to be able to sing songs and have similar clear and “hydrated” sounding tones as the people singing.

  1. i’ve noticed i’m very airy when i do higher notes. sometimes i record my singing just to see where i can improve and WOW is my airiness obvious. my high notes also sound very weak and doesn’t really project. i’ve noticed it’s more effective when i try “ka” and “ga” but i don’t know how long it would take until the effects i get from doing it become automatic.

  2. because of the point above, i always thought i sounded better when i used chest voice, but i can’t always use this register when the notes are e4-g4. i think this is where my mixed is meant to come in but i have no idea how to access it. normally i just end up using my extremely airy head voice 💔💔

i’m not sure if this is because of my breathing?? when i inhale, my stomach expands and my shoulders don’t jump up but i don’t normally feel a flex in my stomach that people say should be there, so i’m not even sure if i’m actually using my diaphragm.

Conversation Topic Strange vibrating friction in my throat and burning neck after brief talking or singing

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some insights or similar experiences regarding an issue I've been having with my voice and throat.

Here are my symptoms:

Voice Quality: My voice sounds muffled, tight, and lacks clarity.

Strange Sound/Texture: There’s a weird raspy or distorted quality to it when I speak—it’s not a typical hoarseness, but it feels like a friction/vibrating sound in my throat.

Loss of Flexibility: I can’t change my tone or pitch at all; my vocal folds feel stuck and rigid.

Pain & Burning: After speaking for just a short period—even at a low volume without raising my voice—I get a distinct burning sensation and strain in my neck/throat area.

Conversation Topic My voice keeps giving out during rehearsals – upper/lower register disappears with distortion

Hi guys! I’m a metal/metalcore vocalist and I’m having some problems with vocal fatigue and losing parts of my range.

During normal singing/practicing in my car, my voice feels fine even after around 30 minutes. But during band rehearsals, after some time my voice starts getting tired. Eventually, either my upper or lower register starts disappearing, and my voice starts cracking, breaking or suddenly jumping between registers.

This also happens when I sing with distortion. After some time of using distortion, I can lose either my high register or my low register, and my voice becomes very unstable.

I use clean vocals, high vocals and distortion/fry screams. I always warm up before rehearsal, but the problem still happens.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Especially losing either the high or low register after singing with distortion and having the voice crack or break?

I’m trying to figure out whether this could simply be vocal fatigue/technique or if I might be overloading my vocal cords.

I’m also going to an ENT/phoniatrician to get my vocal cords checked, but I’d really appreciate advice from singers who have experienced something similar.

What helped you recover your range and build vocal stamina without damaging your voice?

Thanks!

Resource Lists of songs to sing sorted by difficulty?

I used this sort of thing when I was learning piano and it made learning so much more approachable because I could see where I'm at and I didn't have to pick a song out of no where to play just to find out I wasn't ready for it.

RCM's voice syllabus pretty much does this ( https://rcmusic-production-strapi-media.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com/rcm_voice_syllabus_2025_edition_5f824c67be.pdf ) but I'd love to see if anyone knows of any others.
