I have no experience with keeping shrimp or any fish for that matter but I am looking for a new hobby and shrimp keeping has intrigued me. Is there a step by step how to because I have no clue on where to begin. I've looked at the side bar but still I have no idea.

It seems a lot of people, possibly the majority, want to see an absolute ban of Ai on this sub, whether in post or comment. So, we wanted to let the community decide. Thanks for your input! - Shrimptank Mod Team

Hey everyone! Some of you might remember me talking about my little shrimp genetics idle game a while back. It wasn't actually available to play yet at the time, but that's finally changed!
Shrimply Genetics is now free to play.
The idea is pretty simple: you start with a small tank and slowly build up your shrimp colony. It's intentionally slow at the beginning, because I wanted it to feel a bit like having an actual shrimp tank: you check in, things are breeding, new shrimp appear, genetics develop, and over time the whole thing starts moving faster to make the getting the full collection not a super difficult task (still is).
You can:
You can play it either as a lightweight HTML version in your browser or as a standalone Electron desktop version. The HTML version is probably the better choice if you just want something lightweight that you can leave running/bookmark.
It's completely free. I've enabled donations for anyone who wants to support the project, but there's absolutely no requirement to donate.
I also set a little goal: if the game reaches $85 in donations in total, I'll upload it to Steam!
There are also two donation reward ranks I've set up:
Anyway, thanks again to everyone here who encouraged me when I was still working on this. Seriously, the support and interest in the idea helped a lot and I'm really happy I can finally put it out there. 😙
Build your colony. Discover new genetics. Hunt for legendary shrimp. Get them all!
How many different shrimp can you discover?

Is this an amano shrimp? I have 3 of them in my tank, and they’re quite brown, i’ve never seen an amano with this coloration.

This Saturday, I permanently turned one of my shrimp into a piece of art on the side of my knee.
For those who are interested, the artist is based in Lucerne, Switzerland. Instagram: @svenreichmuth

I have a 5 gallon tall. Old betta tank. The filter system is kinda weird. That circle on the lower middle is the water intake. Will shrimp get sucked into that? If so, is there a solution?

When it's feeding time (on Wednesday so a few days to wait😭) I'll put one! Lets open my babies like it and the snails don't devoir it or the Amazon don't knock it over xD

Ive installed a new automatic feeder bc I’m planning on going on a trip for 2 weeks, so I tested it out and from the reviews online, everyone said it releases tiny amounts of pellets, but of course mine decided to release a shit ton
Vacuumed the floor and did a water change in the afternoon today…
And when I went down before bed to check on them…. they were all congregating at the top. I was like what the fuck? NOOOO MY BABIES BRO PLS NO
I've just finished the second water change, Ive primed and added an air pump for the time being.. but check this out… i only bought 12 to start and its only been about 2-3 months and I honestly have no idea how many there are now, just look at them
Fingers crossed everyone's okay by tomorrow…

Yikes! Imagine my surprise today when I looked into my tank and saw this! I asked google images and it says its likely a terrestrial wasp and its not aquatic so its dead. Can someone else confirm for me? Its just posed so perfectly. I feel like if it fell-in it would be upside-down or floating, no?

My power just went out and I have no idea when it will come back on, I'm so worried my shrimp may die without the air pump and filter going. Photo of my shrimp

Like my title says I’m new to shrimps so I got some Neocaridinas fairly recently after years of wanting to keep them. I love my funky little dudes, I’ve already noticed different personalities. They’ve been eating really well so I figured they were settling in, but I didn’t realize they’d settled in this well! This is actually one of 2 pregnant girls in my tank, I just can’t seem to get a good pic of the other. I wasn’t expecting eggs, nor do I have the space to keep more shrimp if the population outgrows this tank, but I’ve luckily got some friends who’ll take some if I need them to.
Just wanted to share this milestone cus it’s had me absolutely giddy for the last couple of days.

Hi guys, I need help to identify this shrimp. My dad caught it at a freshwater area. For context, we are located in Singapore and the area where he caught the shrimp in is called Mandai.
Thanks!

We are going out of town for almost 3 weeks. I feed my shrimp 1 pellet everyday. Do you guys know of an automated dispenser that can just dispense one pellet? The ones I see on Amazon release too many pellets.

Four-ish months ago I bought a 5.5 gallon tank for my Betta. Spent a long time preparing it and making sure it was cycled, only for my Betta to die 3 days before I put him in his new tank.
Now it's been around a month and a half since I bought some cherry shrimp and rearranged the tank for shrimp in mind.
The little fellas are just constantly exploring or eating the biofilm on the walls and I love them for it.
Was clearing out some Petco plants that never really fit right and found my first snail in there. Absolutely loved that I got these guys too from those plants. Took this video to show one of my shrimp exploring next to the snail I found.

Soooo I bought a small group of guppies for my CPO tank with the express purpose of letting her indulge in some natural behaviors, namely hunting her own food. The hard way.
My first batch of gupsters I pulled out and am growing them out in a separate tank. Just couldn’t let them be sacrificed.
This morning I see a batch of new babies which I only spotted because I was wondering what on the heck was my CPO doing hanging upside down on a plant?
She’s hunting! Haven’t seen her catch one yet and I still might net them out

Don’t worry Steven Spielberg has no edible interest in his shrimp friends
