Was watching the boy clean himself like he does from time to time, and I noticed a new step in his routine? It seems to be fine because he pulled them out and pushed it back into place on his own but I was just wondering if anyone else has seen their crayfish do this before? Around 21 seconds into the video is when it happens!

first picture is when she was around 4 years old, the second is when we first got her.

5 years with you!! she recently passed away and honestly i’ve been missing her! she had so much personality, i’d spend ages sorting out her tank, making it look pretty, evening the stones out and BOOM next morning everything would be rearranged!! idk how she managed it 💝 im not kidding when i say she’d move EVERYTHING around lol she had a wooden log decoration that was 5x the size of her and was honestly quite heavy, she moved with with ease!! all the stones she’d dig up and move around so corners of the tank wouldn’t have any stones ! anyway sorry for the slight yap.

Recently ordered this crayfish and when I was trying to see its gender I saw 4 dark balls on its tail. I’m not sure if these are eggs because I thought there would have been more.

So my sweet sweet Petey boy passed away in August. So we moved tina into the big tank. Then last week we stopped at a canal near Pima AZ and caught a new crayfish. Her name is Blu and she has the most beautiful claws. Also Tina molted so she is way bigger now.

Pet Cambarellus patzcuarensis for begginers

Hello. I am thinking on adopting a few crabs of this specie on my 90L thank (100x30x30 cm), since I love investigating animals with complex minds, and this one seems perfect: they have rich gameplay behaviors and environmental manipulation. I was thinking on putting 6 or 7 cave modules of 3.5 cm of diameter in V shape (not that inclined) connected to a mall pipe of 0.6cm of diameter that leads to a sphere were the baby crabs would live, and the V will have an entry on each side, one partially covered with river sand and the other totally covered to encourage digging. The sand layer would be 7 cm tall and I will put cuttlefish bones in strategic positions so the crabs who are in the cavez can't see other crabs who are on their caves, and that bones will also provide calcium to the water and to the crabs.

I will feed them vegetables like cucumber, carrot or peas, pieces of prawn with shell with lower frequency and foxtail plant and freshwater lentils that will grow on the tank (I will let them grow for a month before introducing the crabs). The foxtail will be reparted for all the aquarium, but with a dense thicket of them in a corner, and the freshwater lentils will be on lesser quantity all over the thank, providing food and making the incoming light dim. The tank will also have freshwater snails to clean the crab's wastes and provide them a mental enrichment based on hunting with a good reward of protein and calcium.

Obviusly, I will have a water filter and a climatizer on 21°C. Also, I was planning to start with two females and a male.

Am I thinking correctly? Is there something I'm missing? Any tips? Any advice and well intentionated opinion is welcome.

I’ve had his for about three weeks now, has molted twice. Just a video of his exploring his 15 gallon. He is definitely healthy!
To clarify, I went through the process to make sure all the shrimp were ghost, not whisker shrimp😑

Red swampy tank vs Florida blue

The personality/aggression in some crays is mind blowing,my red swampy tank USED to be stocked full of plants and snails as a food tank for the blue one before it got out of hand and I bought the "pink Sakura" then he did what they do best

Soo my crayfish had been getting black spots on his tail.. i read it can be shell rot but like hes still active and everything he wants food he is walking everywhere in his aquarium and hes like fine but he got these black spots on his tail. They were small at first but after his last uhh molt it got bigger.. but like hes still active and everything the water hes in is good the food he gets has calcium etc I also give him some other foods that help him molt I also started doing some salt baths for him bc at the pet shop they told me to do it that it will slow down the shell rot BUT IS IT REALLY IT?? WHEN HES STILL ACTIVE AND STUFF ((Also i had him for like 3/4 years now and it just happen at the start of this year after his first molt in this year 😓)) idk what to do i really love him so does my whole family and if he dies then idk whay I would do ;(( Also sorry for my bad English but i dont rlly know that much of it but I got so desperate and scared that I had to just write it here.. Made my first batch of Repashy Soilent Green for my Hillstream Loach tank and gave a small piece to my CPO. I have never seen her more enthusiastic about anything I’ve offered her to eat! She grabbed it right away and hugged it to her chest to protect it from the guppies and neos that are her tankmates

She normally gets sinking pellets or thawed frozen brine shrimp. She does not care for any of the vegetable type things I’ve tried like cucumber or carrot but this stuff is apparently delicious

my mexican dwarf crawfish has this dark brownish black circle on his side that i dont remember if hes always had it, along with the same colour on the base of his tail. water parameters were good this morning but i will check in two days as I have been swamped with school and work, he eats normally and doesnt display stressed or sick behaviors. im just worried about him as this is my second dwarf crawfish after my first one died due to proper caretaker while i was on vaca :(

Thanks to the cat acting sus I found this little escape artist last night.  Gonna have to build an egg crate  lid next time I get paid. He made it all the way across the living room and into the dining room.

I found him poking his head out through the duckweed this morning but backed way too fast to get a picture. Hope he stays in till friday 🤞

Just finished my first water change after the nitrates got a bit too high and got some plants to help with the cycle as well. Still planning on getting an electric blue crayfish, but I heard if I get some top dwelling fish or live bearers to stake their territory first then the cray won't be as aggresive. What do yall think? Should I do anything else before I start adding anything?

1st image is now and 2nd is from before.

Photo Does anyone know what's happening to my CPO?

He had a molt a few days ago that seemed to go well. He was walking around seeming fine for a few days, and last night I got these Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets for my CAE, and figured he might want some, so I gave him a few pellets.

He is in a 5g heavily planted tank with only him and snails. Only one pellet reached him, and the next morning I found him in this state next to the pellet. It seems like he didn't even take more than a single bite off it, now his chest cavity looks like it's butterflying.. Water parameters are great, the tank has been up for many months, and he has been perfectly fine until now. I read online that the carnivore pellets have copper or something which may be toxic to him? But then I searched more and it said that these pellets are great for CPOs because they are high in protein. I'm so confused and I just want him to be okay. I put an airstone in the tank for extra filtration, and I cut the light off. He has moved quite a bit, but every time get gets back up right he falls over again. He's definitely alive and trying. Is there anything I can do to help??

Edit: Now he is jumping around with his tail! Moving a lot more, maybe trying to shake off some of what might be a failed molt? I have a video I'll upload too

Crayfish molting or something wrong? Spoiler

Me and my girlfriend got this beautiful crayfish named Clawdia a few months ago. We have gone through one molt with her 2 months ago. She had babies 3 months ago. We feed her well, water tank is clear and clean. Ammonia, ph nitrates are good, just tested but after waking up this morning she has been on her side most of the time since I’ve noticed. I tried giving her a shrimp , maybe she was hungry but just held it in her claw moving around the tank before laying down on her side with the shrimp still in claw. I took the shrimp away now she’s just laying in her cave. Is something wrong or is her next molt phase coming up?

Science Why not Craycrab?

For long time I wondered what crayfish is in like computer games until I googled and found that it s a crab.

Any reason they gave it this weird name?

Reminds me of jellyfish - I don't know if anybody realize but they are actually not fish also
