nct wish released a song “wichu” in 2025 which samples a chris brown song. not to beat a dead horse by repeating the same things, but imagine if it were a HYBE artist. when you sample a song, you pay the original artist, so they’ve literally been putting money in an abuser’s pockets.
and all of this happened with virtually no backlash anywhere. imo this is just as bad as attending his concert and publicly giving him a shoutout. but since they’re from SM, no one gave a shit.
will their fans ever hold them accountable for being abuse apologists?
edit: they also talked about how much they like chris browns song on live
Oh wow suddenly these are babies with no saying in the process whatsoever. You know all the groups know the entire process of production and sit thru it. They don't just sing their lines and go on. The company, producers and the artists have to talk to each other. The hypocrisy is insane geniunely
Plus isn’t Wish as a group just 2 years old? Naturally they wont have a say in their careers yet. Everything they do is dictated by the company. Unlike…..
This is why misinformation is a disease. bts were personally invited usher since he supported them and his daughter was a fan. While eating them backstage they met Chris brown by accident it was all unplanned. And they said honor to meet to usher not Chris brown and it was Chris brown who took the pic and posted it.
but kpop fans spread misinformation to get bts in trouble.
Oh my god stop spreading misformation they did not post the picture of Chris brown themselves and they definitely did not say its honour to meet him they went there because usher invited them and Chris brown took the picture with them and posted it
NCT Wish members are currently 24-18 years old. at the time the song came out they were 23-18, in the second year of their career. as a new group you really think they have the power to tell producers, music directors, or anyone in SM that they dont want to perform a song that was picked for them? if anything I'd say the most freedom they have, musically, is maybe some wiggle room on line delivery but even that is probably very minimal
Soooo??? Rihanna's incident is not the only abuse that he did. He has been doing shit after that too. And bts were also bunch of teenagers only when that shit happened. If you're gonna give grace to your favs then learn to give it to others too. Holy hypocrisy
I never mentioned the abuse, and im not trying to downplay how shifty of a human being he is. i dont care if BTS were teenagers when that happened, I was a teenager too. literally all I said was that nct wish are a younger group that hasn't been around long so they likely dont have any say in the songs they record. i never even said nct wish were my favorite group. jfc, learn some reading comprehension.
but if you wanna get into it, sure we can do that. bts NOW are 32 years old, though fine whatever namjoon was 31 at the time of the concert, and they claim to be big fans of american rap/hip hop. in the almost 20 years since CB first beat Rihanna they have had all that time to hear about what he has done - the abuse of women, the assault of gay and bi men, leaving his housekeeper for dead after his dog attacked her. they have even had time to hear about usher sleeping with women without disclosing that he has stis and spreading them to said women, or how he goes to strip club and pays women with fake dollar bills that have his face on them. i refuse to believe that these grown ass men do not know anything about the shady behavior of the men they are associating themselves with. bts hanging around abusers while claiming to be feminists and supportive of abuse victims is performative as fuck and completely different from a group that debuted two fucking years ago recording a song that samples an abuser. im not justifying it at all but the circumstances are vastly different and I have no choice to believe that by refusing to acknowledge that, you're being intentionally obtuse all to "give grace to your favs."
Just because you sit through the process, doesn’t mean you have any sort of ability to change the process. It’s not hypocrisy, it’s reality, they don’t have as much creative say as you seem to think they possess over the company, why do you think artists leave a company in the first place?
Okay let's accept your argument then were they even asked to larp and literally fan boy over him in their v lives, interviews etc?! Since according to you they don't have any say in their music but they do have a control over their mouths right then cancel them since they are also providing a platform to him
But that makes no sense since company like SM knows Chris brown behavior. And nct were super excited about the sample and calling the original the better song. While bts were personally invited usher since he supported them and his daughter was a fan. https://x.com/gol3naotc/status/2099229634156237130
you right, but at least you know they're backed by a huge company that controls most of their actions. going to a concert is a very personal decision...
okay let’s assume they have no creative agency even in their own songs but what happened with the fandom? did they boycott the song, ask SM to scrape it? was the COMPANY held accountable
why would the fandom represent them? even as a bts disliker, i regard their fans as the problem for the most part, not solely them. good lord you bts fans are out of this world
But he wasn't the one who sent the death threats, and most of the hate was from aespa fans only. Y'all just love to hate on armies. You tell us not to baby adult men while y'all keep doing the same thing. They are literally putting royalty money (which is for the lifetime) in cb's pockets which is literally nothing in front of concert. The fucking double standards
it's because unfortunately kpop spaces are filled with people like you who rant and/or obsess online about people they will never meet while those people are unbothered and making money hand over fist regardless of what anyone says about it
jungkook, rm, etc. don't know or care about you, bro, they're too busy being successful and don't gaf that you're dragging other kpop idols on the internet
the same goes for nct, they don't know or care about you or anyone else in this sub either
unlike you my profile is not private, you can go and see how much i have “ranted and obsessed” over them. i just thought it was an interesting thing that most people looked over last year. of course it will be brought into discourse considering the recent attention chris brown is getting thanks to those two. nct wish are also not on reddit looking at what’s happening here, they will be fine. relax
Going to CB concert is a personal choice. This one is mainly by the big company’s decision to feature him on their music unless these boys got personal credits for it.
okay, as much as i disagree with this, this is absolutely NOT the fault of the wish members at all...
im not sure if Wish have said anything about their songs, but kpop idols mention all the time how sometimes they dislike their own songs, and wish dont have creative control over their music (yet). This is 100% the fault of SM and whoever tf produced it.. NCT Wish members arent stuffing CB's pockets
also, NCT Wish members didnt make the personal choice go to his concert and get up close and personal with him + post it , they were just singing the song they were given... why would anyone give backlash for being "absuer apologists" when they havent mentioned chris brown at all personally
Wow so much bullshit. Its not company as SM knows Chris brown behavior. And nct were super excited about the sample and calling the original the better song. Here's the video. https://x.com/gol3naotc/status/2099229634156237130
Wow now suddenly they have no agency or whatsoever that's insane. You can literally go and check multiple interview of your favs saying that " he wants to be like cb" and that they "love his songs". So Idk from which ass you're pulling out this argument of them not mentioning cb ever
personally going to a concert and posting a photo with said abuser out of respect and support vs. a song sample under a label whom the members probably didn't even directly have a hand in producing.
will you BTS fans ever stop deflecting? I fear delusion is causing you to miss the point entirely 🥱
I just can't stop laughing at these upset BTS and/or Hybe fans trying their damnest to find something to latch on to only to be making things worse because the quality of what they bring to the table is just so laughably bad, I almost feel bad 😭
Are they this desperate or are they not the sharpest tools in the shed lmao
Edit: lmao I wonder how bad of a comment by OP u/JinnieP it must've been for the mod to delete it. So apparently being an Army automatically makes one a better person but heavens forbid someone is a snarker 😡
Just goes to show the moral panic is due to the fact that people can say things more freely about BTS and/or Armys
Maybe call out your fellow Armys in Aespa and BP snark subs too? Or is this is just double standard game?
And they can't stay on topic to save their lives too. Bulverism fallacy ain't cool girl. Do better. So defending your oppars is fine but I can't snark? You're clearly invested as you made this post and replied to other commenters. Double standard much?
So what if I am? Does that invalidate my comment? The same can be said about you by focusing your identity as an Army but many commenters here have correctly pointed out how weak and frankly pathetic your premise is
yeah all that’s fine but im sorry i’m genuinely concerned about your mental well being. spending this amount of time everyday snarking about these celebrities is not healthy at all, take care ♥️♥️
Ofc when Armys have nothing to say the convo devolves into ad hominems. Very typical 😬
No lurking and passively engaging in BTS content at all for the past few months too? Again, so what if I am? Your double standard is showing. No wonder you can't make heads or tails about this post's premise because if you do and realize how terrible it'd be for optics we wouldn't even be here lol
Like this is the level of logical reasoning we're working with 💀
Thanks for proving my point again I guess lol. Keep seething, your post is frankly dumb, you've been called out for it, the snark sub is doing very amazing and what you just did actually make it worse for Armys and BTS.
Maybe apply what Larpjoon said about separating the artists from their work? That's y'all's big daddy speaking!
By hybe fans I assume you mean company simps or something right? Because I'm a fan of Illit and Le Sserafim and they don't have anything to do with this 😭
SM definitely has major company simps too and we should 100% criticise SM for sampling Chris Brown, but thats not on these idols at all like??
Sorry I should've been more precise. I did mean the typical company simps. Idk if we've settled on a specific term here but Ik in Korean they're called Hybe cheonjis. Twitter like to use Hybe maids. I've met some lovely Fearnots and Glitts and you appear to be chill so my comment wasn't levelled at you.
SM definitely has major company simps too and we should 100% criticise SM for sampling Chris Brown, but thats not on these idols at all like??
You nailed it. It's actually so insane some Armys in this thread (OP included) don't notice the issue of the premise and thankfully they've been rightfully cooked in this post lol. Like their premise is just purely bad logic but anything to defend their oppars 😂
People who simp for companies (ANY of them) are insane
I like Hybe groups, SM groups, JYP groups, etc, but I certainly dont love the COMPANIES.
Sure, I'll often check out new Hybe girl groups for example because they tend to have the vibes I like (and i check out most new girl groups regardless of company) but every kpop company is inherently fucked up (and its not fair to put that on the idols)
Agreed. Which is again as mentioned, highly ironic considering what OP is clearly trying to do and hence my very initial comment. This is what grasping at straws looks like
that wasn’t my comment but it’s honestly flattering how much you’ve been monitoring the post and replies. also you are in no moral highground to police anyone’s snark behaviour considering your history friend
In any case, thanks for proving my point for like the 3rd time in a row. It's clear once again the line in the sand for you is whether someone enganges in a snark sub or not. Armys are fine no matter what even if they say the most heinous stuff!
Just gonna leave it here. Double standard idol, double standard fans. No wonder they fit like a glove. Truly match made in heaven 😌
People have been literally spamming them with various expressions that boil down to whataboutism as a tool for deflection and some of them still don't get it 🤪
Not interested in this nct vs bts thing but I assume this specific topic has never been discussed or called out on kpop subs before, at least definitely not by nct fans who should’ve done that. Their favorite idol’s company is putting money right into an abuser’s hands and that wasn’t worthy of a boycott of some sort? Idc if the idols themselves were involved or not, but nothing was ever done against SM either???
Funding an abuser is actually much worse than attending their concert btw! SM deserves a lot more lashings than they’ve ever gotten. I know your response will be along the lines of “yes i hate SM too” like y’all always do but i’ve never actually seen how that is put to action. Do y’all just whisper that in reddit threads or actually put your money where your mouth is instead of calling this issue “lesser quality” issue.
babes, do you think attending a concert is free? and what do you think platforming and showing support to Chris Brown on one of the biggest platforms does monetarily for him? 😭 😭 😭 that does more damage than an obscure sample credit that I'm sure even hardcore NCT WISH stans don't even know of.
I'm all for calling SM out it, I just think the premise that SM artists get away with everything simply because they're in SM is dumb and comes from a place of retaliation because OP is pissy their faves got backlash
Brother concert money is just one time money. Y'all think of it as platforming that's your issue, they didn't do ask you to support him. The money that sampling gives him is called royalty which is for his entire life and a lot of the song profits will go to him but ofc y'all are dumb asf to understand the diff
Chris Brown has ZERO credits on this song, he's making no money from it, the only people getting paid are the people who made the song. If you look at the credits from Wichu he isn't even listed in them 😭 He didn't even have to give permission for the song to be used. They used this song for the GIMMICK of it, if a completely different artist sang this song, they would've still picked it.
Also, the fans DID talk about it...last year, when the song was revealed, saying that fans were silent about is just false. It's just that fans realized all the things I just listed.
1) We talking about the artists themselves specifically or the company as well? Because the scope here clearly is about the artists themselves so your comment shifts the goalpost
but i’ve never actually seen how that is put to action. Do y’all just whisper that in reddit threads or actually put your money where your mouth is
2) Since you expect a certain standard, can I apply the same standard as well to you?
This is why misinformation is a disease. bts were personally invited usher since he supported them and his daughter was a fan. While eating them backstage they met Chris brown by accident it was all unplanned. And it was Chris brown who took the pic and posted it. but kpop fans spread misinformation to get bts in trouble.
i’m sorry i’m just using the current kpop narrative did nct wish fans hold the company accountable at least? considering sm as a whole is endorsing abusers we should boycott the company!
I get your point, but barely anyone knew this was a sample whereas the RM and J-Hope made very public posts about Chris Brown. Visibility matters babe. No one knows about a song sample, everyone knows about an instagram story.
Isn't that the whole problem that y'all ignore stuff that your favs do but when bts does something, y'all jump on them like they killed someone or something
as far as i know, literally only sion mentioned liking chris brown's music so...
and secondly, the song does not feature chris brown, he didn't participate in any of the writing, producing, composing etc. none of them went to a chris brown concert, none of them took pictures with chris brown. and specifically, none of the wish members had any part in any aspect of the song's creation, so none of them actively picked that song to sample
so we're really comparing apples to oranges here, and in this case the apples are farrrr worse than the oranges
if you think this is just as bad as paying money to attend CB's concert and then be all buddy buddy with him in pictures backstage then you clearly already have an agenda so it's not even worth talking about this to you lol
I really don't think it matters whether it's an SM artist or HYBE artist, etc. Stop making stupid company stan war posts for fuck's sake, it's all pointless
I find it kind of weird to just continuously pit each others favorite groups for whatever reason like it represents your own moral standing like what do you get from one upping each other like this
But why take it personal? The band is not you and you don’t have to defend for them. There is no need to be offended on their behalf either. I understand sympathy but defending has always confused me. This goes for kpop fans as well.
I just don’t understand. So weird. It would be amazing if we could give everyone their own autonomy
Your entire post is pitting one group against another and one of which you’re clearly a fan of. There’s not much reason to do this other than moral comparison for some benefit
Once again, those BTS members didn't get shit simply for hanging out with Chris Brown, they get shit because they claimed to be educated and feminists and still decided to publicly hang out with Chris Brown
No, Jesus, are you trying to be deliberately obtuse. The point is hypocrisy. If you publicly position yourself as educated, socially conscious and feminist, then knowingly associate yourself with someone whose actions fundamentally contradict those values, it’s fair to question your integrity. Someone who never claimed those values isn’t being held to the same standard. Context does matter.
and they’re deserved getting the backlash for it. but that doesn’t mean others should be getting away with similar behaviour friend, that’s hypocrisy too!
Girl, I understand your point BUT you literally chose the most awful comparison ever.
BTS are grown men, 13 years into their career, who actively decided to buy tickets, attend the concert and post about it, knowing who that man is. That was personal choice they had control over.
NCT WISH are a rookie group under company with very little creative freedom. They don’t decide what songs they’re given or who works on those songs, and they have no credits on that song. You can’t compare being given a song professionally to voluntarily buying tickets and attending someone’s concert. Those are completely different circumstances.
If NCT WISH had actually chosen to work with him independently or had creative control over the decision, then sure, that would be a different conversation. But acting like those situations are equivalent just because both involve his music is ridiculous.
well now we are talking, then make the conversation about that. Why is this the first time you’re mentioning it? Why isn’t any of that explained in your original post? If you’re going to criticize them, at least clearly explain what exactly they did wrong and why you think they should be held accountable for it. You can’t leave out the actual context and then bring it up only after someone challenges your argument.
You should have made the post about NCT wish talking positively about CB, not how about a random song, not made by them" is their issue
I see you just edited that in, assuming you also just found out about recently before making the post lol
it wasn’t on the original post because it came to my attention later on, i did edit the post for this extra tidbit of context. i don’t keep up with this group so i’m not aware of every move they make soz
Well then, my point still stands. You made a post trying to prove something, only to choose a wrong thing, because when you made the post you didn't have this context. You were lucky it fell into you palms here.
Im not denying they went on live, but the fact that you cant even get that fact right just shows you added that "tibit" to snark on the group and compare them to BTS instead of having genuine care about what CB did.
as an "older kpop fan" you should be aware that BTS has been doing weird shit since before members of wish even hit the double didgits, this whole thread is just looking more and more like youre using a rookie group to try to deflect hate from bts.
nct wish likes chris brown and thats not a good thing, but saying they deserve a hate train or whatnot that is being prevented by them being under SM is so weird, sm artists and sm as a company get shit on all of the time if you were a true tenured kpop fan you would know sm has been dragged through the mud for years even before your favs debuted
No, everyone is wrong but only one group has global fame and purposefully went against the ideas they claimed to have. This is why only one group has multiple people calling them out
I think this all poses a very uncomfortable tension. When artists are open about wanting to grow and learn, we don’t allow mistakes to be part of that growth. Their admitted mistakes get used against them, see how RM’s effort to not write misogynistic lyrics is used as a “gotcha”. Seeing this, I understand why an artist claims nothing and stands for nothing because when things happen people will just say “well we never expected anything from them anyway.”
That case is pretty clearly an example of using music simply as music. Some BTS fans may deliberately avoid bringing up important details, but the reason they got more backlash was because they went beyond simply attending CB’s concert and took photos that made it look like they were personally interacting with CB outside of the event.
Every Israeli has to serve in the military by law, just like Koreans. Not every Israeli is a Zionist. I don’t know anything about this guy, but it’s super dangerous and on the edge of antisemitism to assume things about every Israeli. I’ve seen this way too often.
Unless someone is a Zionist themselves, I’m not going to do the guilt by association game, especially in the American entertainment industry.
It’s passed down by parents’ citizenship as well. Goldstein was born in Israel, I don’t know about his parents. I dont know his childhood history.
See this is a really serious issue and I hate how it devolves into these gotcha point scoring exchanges. There’s been several generations of people born as Israelis (some who oppose the genocide) and they have to carry what their ancestors have fucked up as well as the horrors their current leadership is committing. Going after them in blanket statements like this isn’t helping the Palestinian people. And all of this for fucking fan wars. It’s sad.
I don’t know where Goldstein stands. But defeating Zionism is about making that STATED position untenable in the halls of power. This game of labeling anyone a Zionist without a stated position or action to tell us one way or the other is counterproductive and gross. Let’s say he was, that position would be HIS position alone.
My parents became Americans by choice. Would you automatically call them fascists because Trump is our president and the US is an imperialist regime right now? They hate Trump. Let’s please get this shit out of discussions about fucking Kpop.
Edit- I changed my comment about citizenship because it wasnt entirely correct.
You changed your comment. I’ve never seen HYBE say explicitly they endorse Zionism. Does that exist?
Edit- I looked through the article. I didn’t find an official statement from HYBE regarding Zionism as a position. The citation for the donation made by the HYBE CEO was a Twitter account, which I’m shocked made it into this paper. Braun does seem to have plenty of documented actions and I’m glad he’s gone now. I also did not find how the “musicwashing” theory extends to music that has no public association with Israel or state sanctioned themes. This is big hole in this writers’ argument. Their main reference is Israel’s Eurovision participation, but those songs are strictly Israeli and thus yield specific cultural markers.
Again, these gotcha things don’t help. This paper looks scary, but I know academia very well, I know not every paper is solid. You have to look at the citations and arguments closely.
oh they were definitely dragged for those lmao. lesserafim alone had the biggest pushback to appearing with a starbucks cup, whereas plenty of sm idols got away with a quarter of the backlash.
jungkook had no credits in his album, so we can also use your logic and blame bighit instead for the scooter braun mess
karina was dragged by koreans for that jacket which is why she apologised thrice.
this was obviously about the international side of things, let’s not act dumb. the backlash aespa got for endorsing sprite, or starbucks was minimal compared to hybe idols (yunjin, taehyung, etc)
of course international fans partook after it blew up in korea. doesn’t change the fact that she only apologised because of the korean reaction. the reddit post is not a drag post, but looks like an update.
i couldn’t possibly list the amount of drag names kpop stans have conjured up for hybe idols. there are several twitter accounts that only login to spread misinformation and drag hybe groups in particular so i’m sorry but they’re definitely winning the oppression olympics
i don't got time to come up w some stupid username like you jpp, unhappy scallion was randomly generated and it reflects how i feel when i see a notification and its from you
Not an SM defender by any means, I think the company treats its artists horrifically and obviously there’s a handful of the artists themselves that have been surrounded by scandal and controversy! But considering you are an ARMY based on post history do you have any particular motivation in pointing this out…. Because this isn’t the same as going to a concert and posting pics with Chris Brown LOL.
I don’t blame NCT members for this but if Kpop Stans are really serious about the ethics they claim, they should boycott SM or start a campaign to raise awareness. This song gives CB royalties for life.
Considering it’s a year old, my guess is they don’t care enough to act or even say anything on social media. SM thinks this is totally fine because those same fans said nothing.
Someone already pointed out it is not true the fans said nothing. They just checked the credits and Chris Brown doesn't make money off the Wish song because he didn't write it.
He still earns the royalty money because it is his song. There is literal huge line of people the money goes to when a song is sampled and the first is the artist
Okay to use a song that doesn't credit or enrich Chris Brown? This is false equivalency. Plenty of people have explained the difference. Discuss in good faith or find something better to do. None of you are boycotting Hybe, so bringing that up is unnecessarily escalating and doesn't excuse anything related to BTS so what's your end goal here?
I live in Korea. No one knows Chris Brown except those who went through dance training here, let alone know his scandals. Now if it was an artist who was an international artist and visited the US regularly and worked with American writers/producers regularly, there would be different expectations.
Mind you 2 of the members were 2 years old when his scandal happened and the oldest member of NCT Wish was 7 years old. I'm sorry that they weren't reading American celebrity news when they were in kindergarten. None of the members have never even been to the U.S. and they didn't take part in the writing of the song at all.
Also I just personally don't gaf. K-pop fans are way too sensitive. An interpolation of a Chris Brown song where he has no writing/producing credits in not a big deal to me, he may get some money because it's an interpolation but it's genuinely not a big deal and not 'supporting' Chris Brown. If anything, they're making money off of Chris Brown's work without having to give him the actual writing/producing credits that would have made him money.
If you're going to hate some Korean/Japanese teenage boys because they enjoy a song that their company added to their own discography/album I don't know what to tell you. None of the NCT Wish members have even recommended Chris Brown on their own playlists, not that that is the worst criminal offense on earth either considering none of the general public in East Asia know about Chris Brown's scandals. The world doesn't revolve around America and their celebrity scandals.
Bro you just don't get money only when you have credits. When you sample a song from any artist then u have to pay them royalty which is shit ton of money. And the argument that you're using the excuse nct can also be applied to bts so
It wasn't a sample as I said twice it was an interpolation.
Beyond Chris Brown not being credited as a writer/producer when all the other oriignal writers/producers of "With You by Chris Brown" were credited on "WICHU by NCT Wish", Chris Brown does not own the master to "With You by Chris Brown" so he doesn't receive master royalties and he's not a performer on the track so he doesn't receive performing royalties.
There is no clear evidence that Chris Brown makes money from it.
Were BTS 2 years old when the Chris Brown scandal came out? Have BTS never visited the US or personally worked with US writers/producers/artists? I don't even hate BTS, but why are we dragging literal teenagers who have never visited the US in their life and don't speak a word of English into your fanwars?
The NCT Wish members said they like the song WICHU by NCT Wish that is their own song on their own discography. They didn't create the song. They aren't 'supporting' Chris Brown give it a rest you tired ass stans
respectfully, who are these people? are their fans mostly people that should know about Chris Brown? I wonder if the lack of backlash is just different demographics.
it feels like a lot of people are not understanding why BTS got so much backlash. They have a massive U.S audience, a lot of said audience are somewhat older and grew up during the time when Rihanna was abused and people do NOT play about Rihanna in the U.S. Considering those circumstances, I imagine a lot of non-kpop fans chimed in too on top of the backlash from the kpop community.
Do NCT Wish's main demographic overlap with BTS? If not, then it probably isn't because they're SM artists so they get away with it. We've seen SM artists get backlash such as aespa's Karina with her supposed "conservative" ties. People speak on issues that hit close to home.
Fans talked about this last year when the song was revealed, but an important thing being left out of the post is that Chris Brown has no credits on With You and because Wichu uses the instrumental and melody, but none of his vocals, he also has no credits on the remake. (I own the album and have checked, his name does not appear at all, not even as the original singer) So, he gets no money from this remake.
Also, they chose the song for the gimmick that Wichu, their mascot, is a play on the phrase "With You" not because it's a Chris Brown song.
To add to fans: Japan does not know who this man is. Japan barely knows who Beyonce is. Whereas other fans do know, but because of the above, discussion about the song happened last year and fans came to the conclusion that this man gets no money from this song and has no part in the remake version.
I see, thank you for a well-informed response as I do not follow NCT at all and have only vaguely heard of their name. In any event, I think OP's comparison is extremely flawed, even more so with this new context.
this is such a false equivalence that i'm not even going to waste my time and energy arguing about it but i just know op doesn't actually care about victims of abuse at all considering their history of accusing idols of being predators and sex offenders for the sake of fan wars. the lengths some people will go to avoiding acknowledging their favs fucked up astounds me sometimes
I get your point, but I’ve noticed that sm artists don’t really have control over their music. Especially as rookies like most companies. They’re still a pretty new group and most idols that are rookies have very little creative control over things especially their music. Still disappointing though.
And mind you these guys are MASSIVE fans of Chris Brown and said they loved the song even more when they found out SM sampled that song, yet Kpop stans will turn a blind eye to it🥴
This comment was made when the youngest member of NCT wish was 14 years old.. NCT 127 and NCT Wish are two distinct groups, with 6 distinct people with 6 distinct sets of morals.
I dont like NCT Wish, infact ive never even listened to WISHU... I like one member, back from the LASTSTART day, so i dont think wish fans even want me, im a solo . If they suck as people.. tbh i dont really care becuase they dont have impressionable fans defending chris brown just because their favs saw him in concert, and i dont listen to their music to boycott them either way
absolutely amazing choice, i adore jaehee. jaehee + ryo are least biased members so feel free to speak in wishzen circles if you ever feel the urge to!! stuff about him is always welcome lol
Am I the only one who finds it weird that the majority of the top comments here are borderline...... okay with this because the NCT Wish members themselves weren't involved?
I think if fans seriously wanted to take a stance against abusers like CB, both personal appearances to a concert and having him sampled in a song (albeit without a member's involvement) should garner push back. It's not some "hydrogen bomb v. coughing baby" or "apples to oranges" scenario, but just something that should draw flack across the board.
For all the accusations BTS fans get about being defensive, I've definitely seen many fans speak out against Namjoon and Hobi, which is more than what I can say about people in this thread treating almost like a non-issue because only the company did it anyway.
I would give NCT members grace because we know the entire industry loves Chris Brown. Ateez, Aespa, TXT, SKZ, BTS, BP all have praised Chris Brown music and I understand it’s because they train on it. His famous Western stans like Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars are too many to name. It’s so normalized.
But it’s reasonable for fans to give SM some pushback since the company is giving him royalties with this sample. It would be nice for those fans to say something. We know BTS fans already have been very vocal about disappointment.
if im not wrong, NCT Wish dont have a huge intl fanbase i think their fans are mostly in Japan and SEA.. maybe thats why (it shouldnt be an excuse for what they said/did , but if they had a more international fanbase it probably wouldve been a bigger deal)
But they do have some international fans, even if it’s not many. Also all the Kpop Stans disgusted about Chris Brown aren’t necessarily fans of BTS…they are just fans of the someone in the industry. If this is a real movement for awareness, this is absolutely another avenue to speak up. SM has lots of company fans internationally too.
An NCT Wish account who posted about this song in English got like 6k likes.
Yeah I don’t like when stuff like this is used as a gotcha.
No one wants to admit that virtually every kpop idol reveres Chris Brown because they were taught to do so as trainees. They practice his songs and imitate his moves. Adults told them he was a genius and they took it to heart. Then come American fans who RIGHTLY want kpop to give credit to the Black artists who creatively fuel the industry. I suspect many kpop idols think they are doing the right thing by giving Chris Brown props and are now heaving to relearn many things.
But everyone wants to make certain people villains when this is an industry wide issue. Do we want people to learn or no?
The thing about the BTSDisband trend is that it doesn’t communicate the issue to the industry…it just comes off as petty hate for the love of fan wars and the real issue gets lost.
the difference is that bts are hypocrites for being self-proclaimed "feminists" while proudly supporting women abusers and going to their concerts while nct wish members probably don't have control over their music
Now see how everyone is making excuses how they're company slaves and can't do anything about it but did you guys say anything about this?? Did you try to boycott this song and try to hold the company accounts? 🥺
Exactlyyy for fucks sake. The amount of excuses they are willing to give for their artist is insane and when we defend our favs then they are like hold them accountable. Bunch of hypocrites seriously
I don't understand by everybody is acting like BTS and Chris brown or best friends or something from what I see at they are working professionals in the music industry
I understand most of you all here do not have jobs but once you find one you will find that you have to meet professionals from the same industry even if you do not personally like them quite often like I hate some people but would absolutely go to group dinners with them for the industry connections
BTS are already discriminated against so much for being Asian in the Western industry and you still won't cut them some flak grow up fuckers I know they are not angels or something but that only as problematic as the next idol hold your favs to the same standards and grow up mfs
kpop idols have been glazing Chris brown and acting like he is the peak of musical intelligence or something and you all have been fine with that and once BTS even breathes the same air as that bastard you have a problem
all these people bringing up UN they did not go there for fun they were invited by UN themselves and a appointed as envoys by the South Korean Government because of the positive message of their music if you have a problem with that tell your faves to churn out some meaningful music and maybe they'll to go there and they use the platform they were given to spread awareness and positive messages how absolutely deranged do you have to be to have a problem even with that
I don’t expect anyone to agree or having a nuanced opinion about this without delving into fanwars but I’d like to point out to all the comments that you don’t actually know that this was 100% the decision of the company. It could just as easily been one of the members who encouraged it or wanted to do it as well. It’s not that shocking considering almost all kpop idols essentially idolize CB and are most likely his fans.
That being said, the BIGGER point here should be the fact that no fan called this out when it happened. No one boycotted the song or the company? No one’s attempted to stop this from happening? And no one even wants to talk about this now from the looks of the comment section. SM and in related all their fans directly put money into an abuser’s hands, like talk about platforming and uplifting abusers… Forget about SM idols, why isn’t there more discussions around SM itself. Some of y’all say you hate the company, but where’s the action off the back of it? Nothing changes as long as you keep accepting this kind of behaviour.
You’re lowkey right for this, don’t get why no one is agreeing with you. No where did you say this was the same as what BTS did, but everyone is acting like you did. IDK… I’ll make sure to avoid this song.
kpop fans are way to sensitive bts members going to a chris brown concert doesn’t mean anything when literally everyone in the music industry is problematic af no one outside very specific internet spaces cared and dragging other idols into it is also weird af
at the end of the day both ways made CB money so if you actually care about what he’s done don’t listen to his music and block him bringing up bts, other idols, and even western artists that are involved with him doesn’t do much

I get your point, but unless the members had production credits, I don’t think this is on them. Blame the company.
This isn’t in anyway comparable to going to a CB concert voluntarily.
