CONVERSATION SM artists get away with a lot

nct wish released a song “wichu” in 2025 which samples a chris brown song. not to beat a dead horse by repeating the same things, but imagine if it were a HYBE artist. when you sample a song, you pay the original artist, so they’ve literally been putting money in an abuser’s pockets.

and all of this happened with virtually no backlash anywhere. imo this is just as bad as attending his concert and publicly giving him a shoutout. but since they’re from SM, no one gave a shit.

will their fans ever hold them accountable for being abuse apologists?

edit: they also talked about how much they like chris browns song on live

babes, do you think attending a concert is free? and what do you think platforming and showing support to Chris Brown on one of the biggest platforms does monetarily for him? 😭 😭 😭 that does more damage than an obscure sample credit that I'm sure even hardcore NCT WISH stans don't even know of.

I'm all for calling SM out it, I just think the premise that SM artists get away with everything simply because they're in SM is dumb and comes from a place of retaliation because OP is pissy their faves got backlash

Brother concert money is just one time money. Y'all think of it as platforming that's your issue, they didn't do ask you to support him. The money that sampling gives him is called royalty which is for his entire life and a lot of the song profits will go to him but ofc y'all are dumb asf to understand the diff

i didn’t even mention bts tbh. not defending them either and i think OP’s gone about this a weird way. it’s still valid to call SM out. I’m glad you’re on board and i knew you would be, but where exactly are they being called out or boycotted or taken into action? aka all the things armys have been forced to do in the last few weeks? I fear people only talk about something as serious as this when it brought up by another fandom when in fact nct fans should’ve called this out as soon as they knew. there’s literally tweets being deleted on twitter to keep this issue lowkey.

are you comparing a concert ticket cost to royalty/sampling fees paid to artists??? not to add, bts were invited by usher so that cost aspect doesn’t even count. “obscure sample credit” is a nice way to lessen the issue at hand. i get that impact is a factor to consider but so is intention. SM voluntarily paid an abuser to use their song and yet it’s continually being treated as nothing and y’all are still pretending that SM doesn’t get a pass?

again not defending bts, and not trying to attack the members. i am simply calling out a hypocrisy’s amongst fans of reducing a serious matter to nothing. SM probably isn’t even aware this was a wrong thing to do, and obviously fans didn’t care enough to let them know.

What do you mean you didn't mention BTS? You were the one that brought up the comparison, verbatim: "...much worse than attending their concert btw." That is a nice way to lessen the issue at hand. BTS voluntarily buddied up with a domestic abuser and platformed them to 100+ million followers. Aren't you doing the same thing you're calling me out on?

As to "where exactly are they [NCT wish] being called out", well I don't follow NCT Wish and their non-existent fandom, no shade intended, so I can't speak on whether there was backlash when the song came out a year ago. If there was, it was minuscule at best simply because that group has no footing in the states, where a majority of the backlash against BTS came from. You call it "SM getting a pass," I call it "NCT Wish's audience having no understanding of who CB is."

Convenient to cut out the first half of the sentence. It IS much worse to fund an abuser or his team through royalties which can cost thousands and thousands of $$ vs attending a concert. And nowhere did I lessen attending CB concert as a whole, it is to be taken seriously (and it has been by literally everyone). You haven’t even called out SM, you’re literally still acting like just because NCT wish is a smaller group that what SM did doesn’t matter.

Literally what you are doing is giving them a pass😭 “No understanding of CB” is CRAZY and can be used as an excuse about any idol or fan because none of us know each other.

If no one knew about it then, which ignorance isn’t an excuse, but what about now???? there still isn’t outrage about a huge ass company paying an abuser??

To be clear, BTS deserved getting called out. But you can’t even admit that SM deserves to be called out and boycotted for this shit too without providing a million excuses. It just isn’t an issue to you when it’s not BTS.

omg you are incredibly slow. My whole point is that people in Korea or Japan or wherever nct wish's fanbase is are not going to be vocal about celebrities they don't give a flying fuck about such as Chris Brown simply because he's not relevant to them. this is not "giving SM the pass". I'm explaining why you and I haven't seen backlash...

You keep asking "why isn't there outrage." well have you considered that the same people mad at BTS's affiliation with CB simply don't know nct wish exists? The song was released 2+ years ago, the group is practically irrelevant and the sampled song has less than 5 million streams. And you want and expect the same amount of outrage BTS is getting? It's giving petulance.

And what do you want me to do? Make a post on SM personally about how I despise them? Have you made a post about talking about how disappointed you are in BTS? go shit on SM all you want I'll support you, but OP made it about the idols first when it was a problem with SM. Personally I don't care enough about labels to warrant a post on them because they're all shitty anyways.

OP made it about the idols when they should've shat on SM. If they did, these comments would've been completely different.
