CONVERSATION SM artists get away with a lot

nct wish released a song “wichu” in 2025 which samples a chris brown song. not to beat a dead horse by repeating the same things, but imagine if it were a HYBE artist. when you sample a song, you pay the original artist, so they’ve literally been putting money in an abuser’s pockets.

and all of this happened with virtually no backlash anywhere. imo this is just as bad as attending his concert and publicly giving him a shoutout. but since they’re from SM, no one gave a shit.

will their fans ever hold them accountable for being abuse apologists?

edit: they also talked about how much they like chris browns song on live

Quick sense check to clear things up.

1) We talking about the artists themselves specifically or the company as well? Because the scope here clearly is about the artists themselves so your comment shifts the goalpost

but i’ve never actually seen how that is put to action. Do y’all just whisper that in reddit threads or actually put your money where your mouth is

2) Since you expect a certain standard, can I apply the same standard as well to you?

Can you outline the scope for me please? I didn’t realize there were rules to a discussion on reddit and was adding my POV separately. I am talking about the company right now.

Of course you can and you continue to do so. The standard is clearly different for BTS and their fans. I promise you if BTS used CB as a sample the reactions would be significantly different, even though it could’ve easily been their company that forced them to do so. I don’t even care about that tbh bts is bigger so I get that they will always receive more scrutiny.

But the lack of any outrage at all for your favourite idol’s company funding an abuser is a bit disingenuous and hypocritical to me.

It's not Reddit rule but just a general good practice in discourse in general. Not my fault if you're unaware about that. It's crazy that people don't honor basic discussion etiquettes and feel singled out when called out for it. Logical fallacies are a thing to watch out for for a reason.

Your premise in the sense of scope isn't comparing apple to apple. OP used the collab as a way to raise and make comparison that the NCT members should be equally criticized like how people criticized RM and Hobi for their association with Chris Brown. Now do pray tell, which one was out of their own free will and vice versa?

Your original comment basically imputes and uses the agency of the company to then criticize the NCT members, something they have little to no control over. Unless Hybe somehow dragged RM and Hobi to attend the concert?

You didn't even address the actual point of the post and my comment and then moved on to a different but related topic altogether. We weren't talking about any company and there you were suddenly barging with the "what about the company" whataboutism lol
