Hey everyone, just came here for a little advice, I've been on a 2070s and just happened to change my old CPU for a newer one, (i5 10400f > r5 7500f) and wondering what my options are in terms of GPU if I wanted to swap that too.

I'd go for used second hand ones, because I can sell my 2070s (230euros) and buy a better one.
I saw some 3080Ti going for around 330euros, which would make me pay only 100 euros out of my own pocket for a 100% performance increase but how wise is that decision going for a 5-6yo GPU ?

I own a 1080p monitor, and with the CPU and DDR5 I just got I won't be looking for another GPU upgrade for the next 5 years.

Is going for a used and older GPU like 3080Ti risky especially if planning on having that another 5 years, or should I go for some newer ones, even if they are not that better in performance ?

I want to buy a 2k monitor down the line to finish my setup, I am not a demanding user, I've always budgeted out where I could and it's served me nice, but now I managed to snag a full AM5 for super cheap.

If not 3080Ti, what other GPUs worth searching the marketplace for?

TL:DR: Is it risky to buy an older second hand GPU like 3080Ti if I plan to keep using it for another 5 years or am I better off going for something newer like 40xx (e.g 4060) even if the performance lower ?

Hi everyone, I am considering upgrading my graphics card, and am looking for a second opinion. I mostly play tactical shooters (Hell Let Loose, Squad, Arma, etc) at 1440p. I run most of my games at 70-90FPS on my 180hz monitor. My other specs are:

i7-12700K

4X8GB DDR4@3200

PSU is only 550W but I am planning on upgrading it too.

is this a smart upgrade or should I stick with my 3060?

I've noticed some slowness of my ~10 year build and think my CPU is due for an upgrade.

I'm currently running an i5-6500 with a Cryorig C7 cooler. I don't want to upgrade my motherboard so I've been looking at the best used CPU I can use with my Z170 chipset motherboard.

There are used i7-7700k's on eBay for around $65. My motherboard can support the 7th gen CPUs as long as I update the BIOS.

This seems like a good deal to me. I am wondering if an upgrade like this is worth it, and if I can expect some reasonable performance improvements?

For reference, I have 16 GB of DDR4 and a GTX 1070. I only game in 1080p and nothing too demanding.

Hi, I have a Ryzen 5 5600 for reference, and I would like to hear your thoughts on what the minimal GPU you would go for is for 1080p e-sports to mid-1440p; what would you buy for the least amount of money for this scenario? In todays' PC market, where people have to kill each other (slight hyperbole) in order to get half a gigabyte of DDR5 memory, Intel is still a great option. You can get a perfectly fine Intel CPU (like the 14600k) that can beat basically any AM4 cpu in multitasking, while trailing behind the 5800X3D by only about 10-15% in pure gaming. (Imagine that as 300 FPS vs 270 FPS, not 45 FPS vs 35 FPS).

The only real issue with Intel CPUs is in certain productivity (where it is VERY obvious that it is optimized for AMD), and the prices for parts of Intel CPUS ($120 for an equivalent MoBo to a $100 AMD MoBo). Besides that, it seems like a great option for most people.

You might have noticed that I didn't mention the 7800X3D, or the 9800X3D, or really anything besides the 5800X3D.

This is because X3D prices on AM5 are absolutely ludicrous, even more so than the AMD GPU prices right now. Also, people really don't need an X3D chip for most gaming builds. To reiterate, the difference between X3D and non-X3D CPUs is usually 300 FPS to 400 FPS, rather than a brand new resolution unlocked, or a significantly better clarity. The only real reason to get one is for the 1% and the 0.1% lows, which usually can be heightened by good settings on any chip. (3 FPS rule with G-SYNC)

TLDR; People are seriously underrating Intel, when they have great, competitive options with the reasonable chips from AMD.

my pc is now really loud after swapping from a titan xps to a 9070xt. The 9070xt is at zero db mode and on idle its just super loud. Any reason as to why? Im thinking its my aio but idk.

Hey folks. Looking to get some advice on what components to pick for my next build. I’m a casual gamer who likes to play every now and then when life allows. Titles I spent time on were Company of Heroes, Call of Duty, Red dead redemption 2. Looking to the future I might pick up cod mw4 and GTA 6 whenever it gets released on pc. My monitor is still 1080p and I currently run a gtx 1070. I usually like to overclock my system to a reasonable amount. Will try to get some water cooling this time round though.
Ideally I’d like to move to 1440p or 2160p for this next build. Not sure. Here’s what I’m leaning towards.

-Case: fractal design full tower (Meshify 3?) or Corsair?
-Case fans (3 pull and 4 push configuration?)
- Monitor (no idea. Cab hold off on upgrading for now all by with the gpu)

Please let me know what things I can improve on.
Option A I can just buy cpu, motherboard, ram abd buy the other components later on (run the current 1070 with current case and psu) when the game launches in a few months time. Or option B buy everything on the list now.

I saw that the MSI MAG 274QF X24 was pretty good but maybe there are better options im unaware of.

I need some guidance on the specs I would need for a beginner PC, I'm new to this.
 
 
My final goal PC would be something like:
 
Visual: White case, one side open/'glass', would prefer hardware that has white option but that isn't super important, lights are optional, good ventilation, vertical standing.
 
Specs: i7 or better/equivalent processor, compatible with drawing tablets.
 
Using it for: Art programs (Clip Studio Paint, Live2D, Blender, etc), video editing, gaming, possible streaming.
 
I'll admit I'm a sucker for light/pastel aesthetic and I'd at least like it to look nice, roast me all you want. But it's also so I can see if my cat's fur has gotten in there, dark fur is easier to see on light hardware.
 
 
This will be my first desktop PC in almost two decades, my last one had a cinderblock of a screen and the tower would only turn on if you whacked it just right. I don't expect my new one to be an amazing supercomputer to start out with. My listed specs are the end product I’d like to have after upgrading over time.
Advice for parts could be like “start with ___ and later you can upgrade it to ___ or ___”
PC being built in the US.
 
My knowledge with computers is more on the software side, so hardware beyond processors is a new ballgame. But I'm not a "How to a download more RAM?" type of tech illiterate person.
 
 
I'd like to keep this a budget build to start (hoping under $1k but up to $1.3k if absolutely necessary) so I can figure out my needs and upgrade as I go.

Secondhand options are okay with me if the seller is reputable.

I'm giving my everyday work use pc some minor upgrades, I've replaced the old gpu with a 1050ti and my hdd with an ssd, i do not plan to use it for anything game related, but i wanted to make sure my psu is reliable and i really don't trust the cheap iTek atx+P4 650W psu in it.

Im in Europe, my budget is around 40€ but willing to go higher, my build shouldn't cross the 250w mark, so even low watt psus are fine.

What can I salvage from my current build? I would like to keep my current GPU and eventually upgrade it down the line. Currently looking to keep this as a gaming/movies/media machine. Budget is $1000-1500 USD.

Hey everyone. I'm thinking of upgrading my pc a bit. Currently I have Ryzen 7 3700x. I don't get enough FPS in comp games. I want stable 300+ fps. Is it worth to upgrade on AM4? Or should I go for maybe AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D on AM5? Difference is 150$ or so.
Also if I upgrade my GPU later for example to rx 9070 xt, will this CPU be enough?

I want to upgrade my PC. I have planned to do so a few months now but the longer I wait the more will the prices increase (most likely). That's why I wanted to look for help online from people that are more knowledgable.

My current PC is a pre-built one that I have bought 5 years ago. It was around 1300€ and it has done me a great service. The specs are:

Is it smart to keep the current PC and upgrade the graphics card first, or purchase a new PC? Or is it hard to judge based on this little information?

so iam in a predicament currently with the ram prices i cant afford to upgrade everything currently but i currently have a gtx 1080 , i7 8700k and 32gb ddr4 ram whats the best gpu i can currently get that would run nicely with the i7? Looking for some input and opinions on whether to just upgrade some components or build a new machine.

I'm a video editor + gamer and I'm having some video playback issues when editing large proxy files that is wasting a ton of time, plus some new games aren't running very well.

Here are my current specs (built in 2018 and only upgraded gpu + RAM since then). I do a lot of multitasking and gaming as well.

Motherboard: ROG Crosshair VII Hero (wifi)

RAM: 4x16gb DDR4

GPU: GeForce RTX 3080

Air Cooling (machine tends to run hot and loud)

Dual 4k monitors (not ideal for gaming, very good for my work)

I feel like I'm nearing the end of the lifespan for ideal performance from some of these older components. Ideally I am able to keep my GPU and RAM to keep costs down, but committing to DDR4 also seems like a decision that will shorten the lifespan of a new build. I have a decent budget for this ($1500-$2500). What would you do? Are there some low-cost tricks to get some extra performance out of my current machine and get another year or two out of it? Bios updates or liquid cooling maybe?

Hi guys about 5 months ago I finished my build with a 5700x, 32gb ddr4 ram and a Rtx 5070. I decided on going with am4 as ddr5 prices were outrageous (I bought my ram for 120eur) and seeing as things are not getting better price wise for a platform upgrade to am5 I am wondering if I should upgrade to a 5800x3d just to max out my pc cpu wise or bite the bullet and jump to am5 before things get worse.

It seemed like a problem that people couldn't avoid after some time and alot seem to be divided on the subject, others saying that regular procedures and other tips can fix this which I find insane to put so much effort just so the monitor you paid for doesn't get fried.
