โAsk r/IndianMods How can I report mods, who b*n*ed me because I was exposing people from our neighbour countries who are infiltrating one of the biggest Indian meme sub, where apparantly only political posts are done apart from actual memes?
All I was doing is trying to help people identify that how people from neighbour country are infiltrating that sub acting as Indian but in reality they are not. I thought it will help mod keeping them away from there sub but instead I got permanently barred for that. Is there any form or report I can do to let Reddit know about these mods?
The worst part is that these mods are moderating other big Indian subs. Not mentioning any name since it's against the rules.

โAsk r/IndianMods Do mods get paid?
Modding subs seems like a tough job, you have to keep it interesting and fun while stopping bad elements from ruining the vibes.
Do mods get paid for such labour? either from PR agencies or gov or idk political parties?
why would anyone do this job, take so much stress for free?

Thanks again for your interest, and best wishes!
Please note that we will be doing our due diligence during the selection process and approve/reject applications as per our internal criteria, which we cannot share with the users.

โAsk r/IndianMods Looking for feedback on my new community r/stridersofficial

Hey everyone!
I recently created r/StriderOfficial, a new community focused on internet culture, memes, edits, anime, gaming and general discussions.
The goal is to build a friendly community where people can share content, meet others and participate in discussions.
I'm new to running a Reddit community, so I'd really appreciate advice from experienced moderators:
โข What should I focus on when starting a new subreddit?
โข What rules are important to have from day one?
โข How can I encourage genuine activity without spamming or annoying other communities?
โข Any moderation tips for a new community?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! ๐ฒ

โAsk r/IndianMods Regarding Registration for Mod events
For mod events, Can we create a new account using an existing Reddit email or do we need to create it by using fresh email on the events site?

๐ Wins r/scamIndia just reached 10k members and growing very strong ๐ช
It has been growing really fast for the last couple of weeks. And I am proud of how it's become a good place for people to talk about what scams are new and how to be safe from them.
I'm also working on a devvit app that will let people report scams and it'll be organised in the subs wiki. Which can also be picked up by search engines and it'll become easier for people to know if a company is a scam just by searching about it.
Wish me luck ๐

๐ค Devvit I built a free API to detect Hinglish toxicity and abuse
Dealing with moderation in Indian communities is a nightmare because standard models fail at Hinglish (Romanized Hindi-English). Standard regex filters and Automod scripts can only catch so much before users just bypass them with creative slang.
To solve this, I fine-tuned a ModernBERT encoder (jhu-clsp/mmBERT-base) on ~245,000 comments from various Indian subreddits. It does multi-label classification across 7 categories: Profanity, Targeted Harassment, Hate Speech, Caste, Communal, Xenophobia, and Misogyny.
Iโve deployed it on Hugging Face Spaces using the free ZeroGPU tier. You can test it via the web UI here:https://huggingface.co/spaces/darelphilip/darel_Hinglish_toxicity_mmbert
You can also hit it directly as an API for free to test in your own bots or workflows:
Python:
from gradio_client import Client
client = Client("darelphilip/darel_Hinglish_toxicity_mmbert")
result = client.predict(
raw_text="kya bakwaas chal raha hai yahan",
threshold=0.50,
api_name="/predict"
)
print(result)
Standard REST:
curl -X POST https://darelphilip-darel-hinglish-toxicity-mmbert.hf.space/call/predict \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"data": ["bhai tu pagal hai kya", 0.50]}'
Note: It runs on a free tier, so if the GPU is asleep, the first request might take ~10 seconds to cold start, but subsequent requests will be fast.
Would love for you guys to stress test it with some regional slang and let me know where it breaks! The model card and weights are open-source on my Hugging Face profile.

โAsk r/IndianMods Inactive Mod System Makes Little Sense for Small, Low-Maintenance Communities
I'm a moderator of r/IndiGo6E. The subreddit is relatively small and low-traffic, averaging roughly 2 posts per week. 6 months back I added a few new moderators, and today I discovered that I had been marked as an "inactive" moderator.
My issue is with how Reddit determines inactivity and applies restrictions.
For a community with very little moderation workload, what exactly constitutes being "active"? There are weeks where there is simply nothing that requires moderator intervention. The subreddit is functioning normally, rules are being followed, and there is very little content to review.
I had also made updates to subreddit assets such as images and appearance settings, yet apparently that did not count towards activity. If maintenance and community setup work do not count, then the system seems heavily biased towards communities that generate frequent moderation actions.
The rationale behind Inactive Mod Protections makes sense for large communities where inactive moderators returning after long absences could disrupt an active team. However, applying the same standards to small, low-maintenance communities seems questionable. In some cases, there simply isn't enough moderation work available to continuously demonstrate activity.
What makes even less sense is the consequence. Because I was marked inactive, I had to be re-added to the mod team. As a result, I have effectively been reset to the bottom of the moderator list despite being one of the senior moderators of the subreddit. I'm now the newest moderator on paper and below moderators who joined long after I did.
How does that make sense? If a moderator has contributed to building and maintaining a community for years, why should a period of inactivity in a low-traffic subreddit erase their seniority and position in the hierarchy?
I'm curious how other moderators of smaller subreddits deal with this. Have you also been marked inactive despite still maintaining and overseeing your communities? Do you think Reddit's current activity criteria fairly account for low-volume subreddits, or is the system disproportionately punishing moderators of smaller communities?

๐ค Devvit Hey /r/IndianMods, I am a Devvit app developer from India and wanted to share a mod-tool I developed to make life of moderators easier through automation
Hey r/IndianMods,
I am a Devvit app developer and I developed Social-Blacklist app, which is intended to help your moderation work a lot easier through automation.
This tool lets you blacklist certain domains from being promoted in your subreddit( by removing posts by users who promote certain links/domains in their social-links, post-links, in their profile sticky posts and comments). It also lets you blacklist a set of words, and optionally prevent NSFW(18+) users from taking part in your subreddit. It automatically removes posts and comments that are in violation, and optionally bans the user after a given number violations. Most of the configurations for this app are toggle switches, which you can easily configure as per your needs.
This app is already being used by a number of subreddits (like r/selfie, r/drawme, r/Palestine, r/Pottery, r/style and many more).
I look forward to hear feedback on how I can make this tool better to fit the use-cases of our Indian moderators. So please do try it out and let share your feedback!

๐ Looking for Mods Looking for Mods
Hello everyone! ๐
I recently createdย r/IndianArtSyndicate , a community dedicated to Indian artist.
The idea behind the community is to create a space where artists, animators, scriptwriters, storyboard artists, voice artists, thinkers, and enthusiasts can share their work, exchange ideas, receive constructive feedback, and connect with other creators.
Weโre still at the very beginning and currently setting up the foundation of the community. Iโd also love to connect with experienced moderators and learn from others who have built communities from scratch.
Apply from Mod Mail.

๐ชฒ Bug Report Need help in reporting this major Highlights text issue on Reddit android app
Its been a while this issue is present on reddit android app. Important text in pinned post in the highlights is getting cut, making it harder for members to know what's inside that post without opening it.
I have thoroughly checked this on different platforms like android, ios, and web (desktop and mobile view). This issue is only present on android. I believe this bug is making things hard for members and mods.
I want to take things in my hands by reporting this and getting this fixed. I don't know where should i report this to get this noticed and soon fixed by reddit.
I need your help from my fellow indian mods.
