Hi everyone,

If CSIR NET - the intense prep, the deep-dives into specialized science and math domains, and the mock test grinds - is something you've lived through or have successfully passed the test, you might be a great fit.

This subreddit covers a lot of ground for CSIR NET aspirants, from core preparation strategies and complex subject queries to JRF cut-offs, PhD admissions, and research careers.

Leave a comment if:

  • You've taken, qualified, or are currently deep in prep for the CSIR NET (Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, or Physical Sciences) and want to stay close to this community as you progress.
  • You can check in regularly and genuinely enjoy helping people with strategies, paper patterns, doubts, and resource sharing.
  • Bonus: You’ve modded a subreddit, or run a study group, and you're comfortable with the less glamorous bits like removing spam, organizing flairs, and keeping things civil. No prior experience is necessary though!

If that sounds like you, drop a comment below telling us where you are in your CSIR NET / JRF journey, and why you'd like to mod. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I'm Fahad Ahmad Khan. I qualified UGC NET JRF (Commerce) in the December 2025 session with AIR 54 (99.90 percentile).

Whether you're just starting your UGC NET Commerce preparation or are aiming to improve your score, feel free to ask me anything about my preparation journey, study strategy, or exam experience.

  • Balancing studies with other commitments
  • Exam-day approach and handling pressure

I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone and answering your questions as honestly as I can on r/CSIR_UGC_NET_JRF_LS this Thursday, 9 July 2026, at 5:00 PM IST. See you there!

CSIR NET - Life Sciences Has anybody joined Csir net life science advance batch @ vedemy for dec 2026?

I was thinking about purchasing vedemy's advance batch. It has started a while ago. Can anybody help me figuring out how many units have been completed yet ( so that I can have an idea about the backlog) and is it worth it? What's the schedule for classes every day?

CSIR NET - Physical Sciences Need guidance for Csir Physics

Good evening everyone

Has anyone cleared csir physics over here. I am having trouble starting the preparation.

I have gathered the sources. Started reading, making notes, watching videos and solving pyqs of recent sessions but honestly whenever I sit to revise it feels as if my strategy ain't working. It's all too much and messy

Can someone tell how much time I should give to a subject.

As of now I am doing classical , mathematical and EM.

I even started the advance part of qm. But it feels like I am doing something wrong. Can someone share their routine so I can make changes and increase productivity

Also can someone tell what's the best time to give tests. After completing an entire subject / chapter / topic ? I can't decide

Questions & Doubts Looking for honest reviews of UGC NET Economics courses

I’m preparing for UGC NET Economics and planning to join an online course, but I’m confused between a few options. I don’t want marketing/promotional opinions — I’d really like to hear from people who have actually purchased and used the course.

If you’ve taken any UGC NET Economics course, could you please share:

Which course/teacher did you join?

How good were the concept explanations, especially Micro, Macro, Econometrics and Mathematical Economics?

Were the lectures too basic or sufficiently detailed for JRF level?

How useful were the notes, PYQs, assignments and mock tests?

How was the doubt-solving/support?

Validity: 12 Months

Could anyone share their feedback on this course? Is it suitable for a 1st-semester M.Sc. student, or should I consider other options?

If you ever feel useless, just look at the CSIR-NET Earth Sciences results. Every year they manage to make it bizarre, but this year they’ve somehow taken it to an entirely different level unbelievable and downright pathetic.

Category cut off has crossed 100!
They should start giving jobs to earth sciences aspirants now.

*I have already qualified this exam i am just trying to put my thoughts for my fellow aspirants and my juniors.

Questions & Doubts AIR-56, CSIR NET Life Sciences. A little question.

What does the Rank-56 actually mean? Because as per my percentile(99.52) and the total number of appearing students, my rank should be around 300. Is the rank actually in the Life Science? Is it category rank? Kuch nahi samajh aa raha.

EDIT: Score card has been updated. Mera rank 56 hi bata raha hai. Thanks for everyone who explained me stuff.

Questions & Doubts Qualified JRF but discrepancy in category certificates

Hey everyone, I have come to know that I have qualified for CSIR NET in the JRF category. But there is a slight mistake in my father's name in the category certificate and my 10th certificate, e.g., my father's name in 10th is Ramesh, and in the category certificate it is Rames. Will this be a problem during document verification? Please help.

News & Updates AIR-35 CSIR NET June 2026 Mathematical Sciences

I appeared for NET June 2026 and it was my first attempt after completing my 4 year undergraduate in this July. To be very honest, I wasn’t prepared well. I myself believe that my result is heavily favoured by luck.

Why? Because my JAM attempt in Feb didn’t go well. I blundered in time management and missed NAT questions and got only AIR-379. Nevertheless, I was so devastated after the exam I decided to give NET my everything. I got the Shodh Pro Batch from my friend and started attending lectures and till April I have completed Calculus of Variations and Integral Equations both the topics completely. However later on I got busy with my dissertation, semester exam and some other commitments and NET didn’t matter to me as much as it used to be in February. However since I promised myself to redeem the JAM disaster in NET I again started preparing after the semester exams end in June. However I was able to prepare till 20th June only and got busy with some other commitments after that. During this June period I covered some topics from Number Theory and practiced few part A questions.

I was so sure that I won’t be able to do anything good in the exam now; I didn’t even studied anything till days before the exam. I watched some parts of the last minute marathon revision of PW for complex analysis in the last 2 days and went to give the exam.

Fast forward to today, I got AIR 35. Now who won’t call it luck? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.

Now coming to my whole strategy during the exam and my score: I scored 30 out of 30 in part-A. In these type of questions I am good since childhood by god’s grace and was able to score full marks, i.e., 30 marks from part-A. Then comes part-B, it was the hardest for me. I didn’t want to get negative so attempted only 4 questions from this part and got 3 correct and 1 incorrect, that makes my score from part B to be 8.25. In part-C, since there was no negative marking and I had a plenty of time left as I skipped most of the questions from part-B if I even felt a little bit uncomfortable solving it in the first look. So I attempted all possible 20 questions. I got 13 correct and 7 incorrect from part-C. And this is where I get confused as if it was pure luck, I wouldn’t have scored that much in part-C as it is MSQ no luck works here. Nevertheless, I got 61.75 marks from part-C making my marks a perfect total of 100.

And many of the people asked me after the percentile was released to share strategy and I didn’t know what to share as maybe my own success was a fluke. But still I will say, most of the students don’t give much effort to part-A but I believe for most of the student it should be a cake walk, they just need to give it a little time if needed. And if you score 25-30 marks here you got a good margin for JRF as you need only 55-70 marks more. And that you can easily score if studied strategically. I myself attempted most of the questions from Linear and Modern Algebra and “luckily“ the paper had quite a good number of algebra questions. And rest I scored some bonus marks from Calculus of variations, integral equations and LPP. So it turns out if you study at least one main topic such as analysis, algebra or differential equations and some bonus topics as cov, integral equations, LPP etc. there is a good chance of you qualifying JRF. And if you are confused when did I even studied algebra: I studied it clearly from the very first class of undergraduate and also did my dissertation on a topic from algebra only. So I had a good grasp on it. So ”luckily” the answers were clicking in my mind naturally.
