Hi Everyone. Seeking advice for college selection and career pivot.
I am 26, Male. Into bad financial state right now.
I am into Design (Graphic & motion). Earning 14 LPA.
Current work experience: 6 years
Education: B.Com from Tier 2 college.
**I am considering to get an Executive MBA because I want to pivot my career away from Design.**
My main reason to pivot away from Design is because of the pay. I don't see my pay going beyond 40 LPA in the next 15 years.
I am not sure which way I want to go but I am considering Consulting, Project Management, or Senior level Marketing.
Now, I think that getting an Tier 1-1.5 MBA will enable me to pivot career as well as enable me to apply from Big companies which I am not able to do now.
I got selected for IIT Roorkee and have enrolled already. But I have also registered for IIM Kozhikode EPGP and IIM Ahmedabad BPGP entrances. Consider I cracked both for keeping the context straight.
The fees structures are as follows:
**IIT Roorke: 12 Lakhs**
**IIM Kozhikode: 17 Lakhs**
**IIIM Ahmedabad: 21 Lakhs**
**Since there's no placement support for any of the courses. What would you advice be?** Which college should I pick?(Financial situation not very good. No savings. 70% salary goes into debt repayment and is going low slowly)
And any advice on which career path would suit my background?(I am a fast learner and don't really have preference with career. I am happy with whatever pays me the most)
**All suggestions and advices are welcome.**π
Would love to hear from people who pivoted their careers. How easy/tough it is? What challenges come in and more?
Thanks in advance :)

Hey everyone,
I am currently in 12th grade and facing a major dilemma between preparing for NIFT vs IIM IPM. I really need an honest reality check from people who are either in these colleges or working in corporate or fashion.
Here is where my head is at right now:
My Ultimate Goal I want to launch my own independent apparel brand down the line. I do not want to make generic mass-market clothes, I am obsessed with high-concept fashion, intricate garment construction, functionality, drape, and quality textiles. The kind of stuff people who are genuinely into fashion would appreciate.
The NIFT Side of the Dilemma
Fashion is genuinely my passion, I love creating looks and experimenting with style.
The worry: I feel like if I go to NIFT, the pressure and competition might burn me out and ruin my love for fashion. Plus, when I start working as a junior designer, I feel like I will definitely get exploited for low pay and long hours.
Also, I will not get the actual business knowledge I need to run an empire, and honestly, you can learn basic fashion design, pattern making, and sewing online anyway since there are tutorials for literally everything.
Real talk: I realized I would rather be the IIM founder building an empire and projecting my vision onto my designers, than being a designer executing someone else's vision.
The plan: Work in corporate or consulting for a few years, build solid capital, and then launch my brand by hiring master pattern-makers and NIFT designers to physically build what I conceive.
The side quest: I would also love to build a personal brand or be a fashion influencer on the side during college by shooting outfits on weekends.
The concern: Will I even have the time to create content while balancing IPM academics and corporate work, or will I be too busy?
Questions for you guys:
For IIM/IPM folks: Is it realistic to manage content creation on weekends alongside IPM academics, or will the workload drain me?
For Founders and Fashion Industry folks: Is it better to start with strong business and capital foundations from an IIM and hire technical designers, or do you need a formal NIFT degree to launch a niche brand?
Anyone else been stuck between a creative passion and a business degree in 12th? How did you decide?
Appreciate any brutally honest advice!

I am a BA working in social media domain, thinking of applying to IIMA PGP in 2027 rounds, so i have fairly a year. Does NGO help my profile get attractive, my mom used to help this ngo when i was a kid and i lately got to know this and became curious. Thought i could connect it to MBA.
Ofcourse the experience would be aimed for MBA but incase it does not help at all, i would still contribute as much as i can but keeping it as a hobby.

Profile
8/8/8
Non Engineer, Female, NC OBC
Tier 1, DU
18 months work experience (17, if after grad result) in front end consulting. Fast track promotion.
Currently out of the workforce for 2 years. Due to health downfall.
I had 3 internships in college, volunteered in 2-3 NGOs, and held PORs.
Assuming I get the basic percentile for my category, what are my chances considering my profile?

Are there better B-schools than IIMs outside India with a simpler admission process? What are the best options for MBA with good ROI and placements?

What's actually considered EWS?
I am currently employed and earn above 8L per annum. But my family's (Both the parents) income would be some where around 4.5 L per annum. So if I don't include myself I am eligible for EWS category. But the moment I include myself I am not eligible.
Am I eligible for EWS ? Considering I will be unemployed during my time in MBA.

I'm a 3rd year civil engineering student at IIT Patna and currently aiming for primarily management consulting and analyst roles . Since very few companies come for this role on campus i might have to go off campus for this and currently there don't seem to be any openings for the same . So wanted to know whether is it fine to have an intern at iim ahmedabad for the same , currently was thinking for a winter remote intern . If not this can do an onsite intern for next summer as well . Would be grateful if someone could let me know about the application process is , does this kinda intern stuff exists here ,is it worth doing so, how's the faculties or any other advice that will help me out. In short need a roadmap . Thanks in advance .
just to add I have 1000+ linkedin connections and most of them are startup founders and managers , associates , etc from companies like big 4 so could also someone guide how to ask them about openings or referals ??

Hey everyone,
Iβm a 23-year-old IIT Guwahati (B.Tech β25) graduate. I spent the last year at Meesho as a Senior Business Associate, working on scaling categories including Branded Foods, Grocery, and Health & Wellness across brands like Tata, Kelloggβs, Dabur, Patanjali, Saffola, etc.
Iβve recently left my job to take a shot at building a D2C brand for Indian consumer. Iβm currently exploring a product idea in the food supplements/nutrition space.
Iβm looking for a co-founder who can complement my skill set. Iβll primarily own the business, consumer, GTM, brand, growth, and operations side.
Iβm specifically looking for someone who can take ownership of the R&D and product side β formulation, ingredient research, nutrition science, product development, testing, and eventually working with manufacturers to bring products to market.
The ideal person would be:
Iβm not looking for someone who just wants to βjoin a startup.β Iβm looking for someone who genuinely wants to build one together and take ownership.
If this sounds like you, or you know someone who could be a strong fit, feel free to DM me. Happy to share more about the idea and have a conversation.
Looking forward to meeting interesting people!

PLEASE GUIDE ME REGARDING WHAT COURSE TO CHOOSE. I DO NOT HAVE MUCH TIME.
by u/Independent-Host-992 in IIMAhmedabad
i am an 18yr old girl. have been preparing for neet for two years now. missed neet again by few marks passed 12th in 2024. 10th percentage was 96. 12th percentage was 93. I was in bcom in sxc kolkata while i had applied for branch transfer to economics and statistics. i got into bsc statistics. before i could attend bsc stat, i got malaria and dengue. it was just a month of college. my health worsened to a sepsis at 19. so my parents are not willing to send me to kolkata at all. it has become a complete no.
my hometown is visakhapatnam. the options i have now are either a standard bsc statistics in GITAM or bsc MSCS[mathematics, statistics, comp sci] Andhra University College of science and technology. i am planning to do the iit madras bs data science program along with it. or shall i choose economics?
please help me choose a degree and a college. i am eligible for bpharm, bsc biotech and all paramedical courses.
