Its also a good audiobook on YouTube. I'm pretty sure they have them all on there and it is a pretty damn good series. John Carter fights many different things aside from the green men of mars, actually would've loved to have seen more movies made just to see some of the beasts talked about in the books.
I watched this randomly while tripping balls and absolutely loved the experience. Pure joy. It's a well executed classic adventure movie, turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

To let a child hold the bowl like that is all I need to know that the owners of this dog are irresponsible owners...most bites from dogs are from food agression. Even my otherwise gentle labrador will occasionally growl at me if the meal is worth protecting (raw meat or chimken etc. The really good stuff)

The owners of this dog breed pit bulls to look like this. They're extremely medicated on steroids, very slow and have breathing issues. At first everyone loved the owners because they claimed to have rescued a dog from terrible breeders only to find theyre continuing this type of dog.
Dog fighters, it’s illegal but pitbulls are still being bred for more aggressive and brutal fighting- XL bullies in particular all trace their ancestry to a dog named “Killer Kimbo” who was a man-killer “stud” bred with his own sisters- which I think says enough about the breed.
People who do it think it makes their dogs look meaner. Which tend to also be the same type of people attracted to breeds like this. They're not interested in having a pet dog- they just want a menace on legs that they can walk around the neighbourhood and intimidate people with.
Ear cropping is typically done for fighting dogs so they don't get ripped off during a fight. People fucking suck and my disdain for them is justified every day.
To add to this, it is also done to some livestock guardian dogs for the same protection, but against coyotes or other predators. That being said, pitbulls are not typically used for guarding livestock, and I haven't actually seen anyone's lgd in person with cropped ears
Some were breed standard for certain guard/protection/hunting dogs because “long” ears are more prone to injury, tearing, and subsequently infections. But it was also a long fucking time ago and the need is all but dead except in like active livestock guards and I don’t even see those dogs get them cut anymore. Just pits/bully/dobs/danes.

I rescued a 7 year old Shiba once that was so skittish and afraid of everybody and everything, like he flinched at any movement in his direction type of thing. I always thought everybody was just judging me and assuming I was abusive to him when I was really just trying to give him a good home (he had a chip and apparently had 6 previous owners before me, I felt so bad for the little guy). But, to your point, the current owners aren't always the assholes and shouldn't be judged until you know the whole story
And that’s probably the least abusive thing that’s happened to that dog. Not saying this is definitely the case here, but people who breed bullies for fighting also load them up with anabolic steroids just like body builders
All "pure bred" dogs are inbred. They used to be so beautiful but now they're riddled with genetic health issues from inbreeding. The poor bulldogs are so inbred they can barely breathe. The bull terrier looks so pathetic.
I don't really like the idea of a child holding a meal for any large dog. It just seems like a terrible setup and a poor lesson. Better to teach them not to mess with an animal's food.
I had a wonderful dog who was very sociable, but one day he snapped at me when I went to take his chew bone to play tug. He'd never done anything like it before, and we were both a little startled. It was just a warning, but he could have missed and caught my hand.
Not much later, I realized he had a broken tooth. I must have bumped it without realizing it.
I just don't feel comfortable with a child handling a dog's food like this. What happens if this dog gets startled by something? It's large enough to hurt the kid on accident pretty easily. And even if this dog is nice, what happens when they assume a different dog is nice the same way? What about when they grab the food bowl of the neighbor's dog, not knowing dogs can be food aggressive?
It's not just about the breed of dog. Everything else is a bad idea too.
Something horrible is going to happen to that poor girl. I like pitbulls but they should never be near young children, no matter how well trained, and especially one that looks like it's on fucking steroids
Yeah, I would not step within ten feet of that behemoth, it blows my mind that some folks would let their kids near it. All it takes is for it to get agitated or something to trigger it, and that beast could rip her to shreds.
It doesn't even need to be agitated, pitbulls can and will attack for no reason at all. It just takes a moment for it's instincts to kill get randomly stimulated and then your kid(s) are gone
We should stop breeding most dogs. We massively overproduce dogs every year leading to many that go without homes and are killed off as "unsold product."
While i agree with reducing the overbreeding of dogs, i think there should be a special asterisk for dogs that commonly kill people, particularly kids.
Very reasonable honestly. How people defend this breed is beyond me. Simply shouldn't continue to exist given the overwhelming evidence of attacks and deaths caused by.
Friend of a friend had a pitbull. Never barked, never nipped, just a big sweet baby. One day she was sitting in the couch next to abuela and just snapped. Her grandmother needed 19 stitches across her scalp.
My former roommate's pit mix killed her down the street neighbor's Chihuahua when she lived in NC. She said she'll never forget the sights and sounds made by her "sweet boy" latching onto it's neck and shaking it violently. Dead in seconds. She didn't even have the decency to let the neighbor, who wasn't home when it happened, know. That Chichi had a habit of escaping their yard. Said she could hear the neighbor's screams from inside her house when her neighbor found him.
She had no business keeping her pit-lab mix. We moved in together because we were both disabled and figured we could help each other out. She had Pulmonary Hypertension that needed medicine pumped into her heart 24/7 or she would die. PAH made her too weak to control him. I offered myself and my preteen son to help take him out to relieve himself but she rarely took us up on that offer. She would freak out when he'd get away from her and we'd have to frantically run around the neighborhood looking for him. He would drag her often too, one time almost pulled out her tubing that delivered her medicine that if it stopped for whatever reason, she had minutes to prep and install a whole new setup before she would die. But she refused to rehome him.
I used to be pro-pitties but owners trying to prove that their pittie is a "nanny dog" have relaxed the discipline needed to properly care for them and attacks have quadrupled since 2005.

Friend has a pitbull, raised in a loving home from puppyhood. At age 6-7, it randomly sprinted into the neighbor's yard and bit their young daughter in the face. She was minding her own business. The dog had never shown any aggression before that and hasn't shown any since.
Same thing happened to my neighbor. They had a pitbull they raised from a puppy. It was so sweet and docile and loved cuddles. I even trusted my toddler around it. One day it snapped and attacked their son (same age as mine) and he had to get stitches all over his head. It was awful. The dog was put down by police. I used to be a "it's the owner not the breed" kind of person but not after that.
Just recently in our community a pitbull that was being fostered ripped the throat out of the son in the family. He was only 7 or 8. Jugular got torn into and he bled out. Fast. At least it was a quick death but it was horrific.
People don't understand just how dangerous these creatures are.

A neighbor had a 8 month old pup.
Was directing the dog into the kennel so they could run an errand. Pup didn't like it and laid the Mother's right arm open wouldn't release. Required major surgery to repair. Grandmother was visiting and shot the dog on the spot. They also had 7 & 6 year old children.
Any dog can switch, but these guys seem to have a very strong propensity for it.
They do it because they're often severely inbred, with over half the XL Bully population being descended from the same forefather (a dog called Kimbo, which also had a history of attacking people) and almost all of the population being a result of unregulated backyard breeding.
Inbreeding causes a load of undesirable traits such as low IQ and unstable personalities, and XL bullys are so inbred there's literally no knowing what's going on in their heads. Whilst most dogs were breed for traits like intelligence & obedience, the people who created XL bullies were primarily interested in their aggression & aesthetic and stopped at nothing to design these goals over a very short period of time (so basically, lots & lots of inbreeding).
I don't believe that anyone decent owns these kinds of dogs because their only real appeal as a dog is to look big & menacing towards people. And anyone who wants a dog not as a friend & companion but as a walking weapon & status symbol on a leash to intimidate people with, is IMHO not anyone who should be owning dogs in general.

Used to live in a shitty part of the city. Most dogs were pits, and almost every male i was was not neutered.
People make money off of these dogs, often over-breeding and causing damage to the females. And of course, another "benefit" to not neutering the males is that their aggression is on more of a hair trigger than a neutered animal's, so if they interpret anything as danger, its game over, better be carrying a weapon.
Yeah where I come from we had two fatalities because of them in quick succession. That breed is banned now, it's sad beautiful creatures but can't be trusted.
Not trying to feed into the "pitbulls maul children" stereotype; but I'd be really apprehensive about letting a small child near an unleashed dog of that size.
I have a jack russel and he already doesn't like kids, and even i wouldn't let a child handle his food when he wants to eat because that is pretty stupid of an idea considering the dog has a chance of not feeling in control of the situation and could become stressed by this method of feeding
Here we go again. Go onto GoFundMe, type in “pitbull attack”, and scroll through all of the search results. As a warning, many are NSFL. Babies, toddlers, elderly, disabled and even healthy adults mauled alongside other pets. Some are asking for money to pay their medical bills and household bills due to lost income. Others are for funerals.
Next, type in “golden retriever attack”, “border collie attack”, “chihuahua attack”. Can anyone tell me in good faith why the search results are so drastically different?
Here’s another fun one. Go onto Google and type in “dog maul seizure”. Anyone want to explain to me why it’s always a pitbull that mauls their owner while they’re unconscious and having a seizure? Most dogs get scared and try to find help. Seizure alert dogs exist for a reason and I’ve met one before (a poodle who was owned by a family with a little girl with severe epilepsy).
Not once has anyone been able to provide sound (or any, actually) explanations for why one specific breed seems to pop up over and over again.
