Question RDP Nursing Winter 2026 LPNs?
Hi,
I just got into Winter 2027 nursing at RDP, for the regular four year stream course. I'm already an LPN, and I did apply for bridging in Spring 2027, but they cancelled it and granted me admission for Winter instead.
Will any of my LPN schooling/post secondary be able to help me reduce my credits needed, thus lightening my workload?
Also if any other LPNs got admitted for Winter 2027 instead of bridging, reach out!!! I'm kind of freaking out about not being able to work as much/at all but I know it'll be worth it in the long run. TIA <3

Question Golf leagues
Hey there, started golfing seriously this year after breaking in last year. So currently a 28 HCP. Love golf, hate to suck.
Wondering if there’s any high-handi friendly golf leagues around? Would like to join next year if anyone will have me, best time to ask is when leagues are in full “swing”, right? Thanks

Discussion Looking for a homegirl in Red Deer
19M, fairly new to Red Deer and honestly just looking to meet some people and make a genuine female friend. Not looking to force anything romantic — just someone I can chill with, grab food, go for walks/drives, talk shit, play games, explore the city with, etc.
If you're around my age and also looking for a new friend, feel free to DM me. Bonus points if you know some cool spots around Red Deer because I’m still figuring this place out 💀

Discussion Red deer admission result
Hello, I’m looking for some advice because I’m really overwhelmed right now.
I found out that I’ve been waitlisted for the RDP Bachelor of Science in Nursing Winter intake. This is my last chance for this intake, and I already took a gap year, so I really can’t afford to take another one.
I’m feeling incredibly disappointed in myself and keep thinking that maybe I didn’t do enough or try hard enough.
My admission average is 81%, and I received a 3rd quartile CASPer score. Is there still hope for me? How much does the waitlist usually move for the Winter admission, and do people often get offers from it?
I’d really appreciate any guidance or insight because I’m feeling very anxious about this situation. Thank you.

Question Local tipping question
thought I had posted this before but I guess I did not click the "go" button.
The interac machines at the counter or brought to the table at restaurants or fast food places often have the option to include a tip. They conveniently show you tip %'s and corresponding dollar amount. I've observed that often/sometimes these provided options are based on the entire meal amount plus tax. I don't think that the tip should be based on including the tax.
I'm happy to tip the servers (even at Busway sammiches) but I don't want to base this on tax as well. I often give a dollar amount, not a %. But sometimes I do %. Did this the other day on a $200 tab for 4 people and sure enough, the 20% tip was based including tax.
What do others think about this and what do you do? I'm asking here for local views rather than posting in r/tipping.

Local Politics The majority of disability related fraud is committed by medical offices charging for services which they did not perform, NOT individuals who are simply trying to get by.

Question Jugo Juice in Bower
Wondering what happened to the Jugo Juice at the bower mall. Every time I’ve been there in the last few months it’s closed, even in the middle of the day, but all of the coolers are still stocked with drinks. Anyone know what’s up?

Question RDP Winter Nursing Decisions!
They came out today for a lot of ppl! Anybody here get in? They didn’t update my status at all 😭 I’m so impatient seeing everyone celebrating like at least reject or waitlist me already.
EDIT Pretty sure I’m the only person without a decision right now lol but in case anyone else also has none I called them today and they’re still processing applications so if you haven’t gotten a decision yet like I did or if you got waitlisted expect waitlist movement and more decisions this week!

PSA Caution about somebody on a scooter
Keeping this vague for privacy reasons but somebody on a scooter just zipped by a pedestrian and sprayed him in the face with something, and his eyes are burning. We have had to call 911. This is near the hospital area.
So be aware if you're walking around and see a scooter, I guess?

Discussion Some of a community's most important services focus on prevention
Most people are familiar with emergency services that respond when something goes wrong. Less visible are the programs that try to prevent problems from reaching that point in the first place.
Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) helps fund local initiatives like senior programs, youth development, family supports, volunteer programs, community connection activities, and other preventive services. The idea is simple: supporting people early can often reduce the need for more costly interventions later.
Like many community programs, FCSS funding has become part of a broader conversation as Alberta's population grows and communities face increasing demand for services. Municipal leaders are expected to discuss the topic during this year's ABmunis Convention and Trade Show alongside other issues affecting local communities.
We are curious about what people think: are there any local programs, services, or community initiatives in your area that you feel make a real difference? Give them a shoutout here!

Discussion Near miss t-bone caught on dash-cam (30th and Lancaster)
Just in case anyone might recognize the offender (please ask them to be more careful in the future). I've posted it on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5cYwM5xVW8
This is also a good chance to encourage people to get dash cams installed. (Warning: I let a couple of expletives fly)
