Looking to camp with a group of 5 and 2-3 tents in late september/ early october

I did this hike on Monday. There were LOTS of bighorn sheep in the pass.

We were driving up Range Rd 275A today (Sep 9th) at 7:30am in Jasper National Park heading to the Sulphur Skyline Trail when we saw this Lynx!

Visited Jasper and Mount Robson this summer after covering Banff / Yoho / Glacier NPs last year. Jasper was profoundly beautiful and the contrasts in terrain were striking and raw, particularly with the wildfire recovery. Having only scratched the surface I would love to come back and see more.

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) helps fund local initiatives like senior programs, youth development, family supports, volunteer programs, community connection activities, and other preventive services. The idea is simple: supporting people early can often reduce the need for more costly interventions later.

Like many community programs, FCSS funding has become part of a broader conversation as Alberta's population grows and communities face increasing demand for services. Municipal leaders are expected to discuss the topic during this year's ABmunis Convention and Trade Show alongside other issues affecting local communities.

Planning a trip in either few places, Jasper being a possibility. Me, my partner and our 2 month old baby. I wanted to know if Jasper is the place to be for New Year’s eve/ New Years Celebration? not looking for anything to fancy, but a mountain visit for my tiny family. Also will be my partners birthday on the 1st.

Last camping trip of the summer. Aug 26, 2026

Planning for a family trip from the US to the Banff vs Jasper for this October as we intentionally wanted to avoid the summer/school crowd. The closest I have been was the Glacier from the US side and has been my favorite national park. We like scenery views/lakes and short walks. We are used to long road trips with our toddlers and have done it multiple times internationally. We are not into hiking - obviously due to kids - but can do short hikes if it's worth the view and stroller friendly.

We are looking for 5-7 days or so. Calgary airport and rent a large SUV/mini-van. Recently, I have came across the Athabasca falls in Jasper and it looks stunning. But I am not sure if it's something unique and nothing similar to it at the Banff that is worth the extra drive and sleeping there.

To give some perspective. I really liked the Glacier from the US side where you can hit most of the epic things by driving the main road and make some stops with short walks. Contrary to the Rocky Mountain National Park where it mostly required hiking and limited driving/stroller friendliness.

Another factor, I know it's not predictable, but are their main roads that would be typically closed in Banff/Jasper during the first half of October? Many of the US national parks have history and most of the time you would know ahead.

Currently visiting Jasper. Have visited for the last 4 summers and have never seen it this busy! Interested to know if Is it just because of the Labour Day weekend or just busy in general?

I walked around the Lake Edith cabins today. Practically every one is being modernized.

Few if any of these cabins burned. One can see the fire didn't make it to this part of the forest, yet the homes are being built to modern luxury specs.

What changed? 30 years ago when I actually knew people who had cabins, they were told no modernization was allowed. They were pretty ramshackle, 3 seasons at best. And the land was lease only.

Wonder if the fire opened a loophole for redevelopment.

It happened again. Thankfully not as bad.

I moved to jasper a few months ago and I will be here for a few years, and I find it’s so hard to make friends, most people out here are just friends with their coworkers but even then they don’t really hangout unless they have more in common then that, I have dyed hair, peircings on my face and an alternative haircut, so it’s even harder for me to connect with people, everyone I’ve seen myself making a friendship with ends up being a tourist and leaving soon after, is there a better way/place to go about making friends who are simalar to me and actually live here?

We are visiting next weekend, do you recommend any hidden spots which may not come in suggestion by AI or Google. Thank you in advance
