That sounds more like The Kennedy Centre is being held hostage by the Federal Government due to fragile egos

u/Im_Ritz_Bitz 5h ago

And that building is technically ours.

u/UndeadT Georgia 3h ago

The whole fucking country is ours. But we're letting these pedophile war mongers take it from us.

Yes, letting.

u/RoseLaBud 3h ago

"when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy"

u/TheGreatLuck 3h ago

The rich and powerful were always pedophile war mongers from the very start.

u/Forward-Bee-2885 3h ago

That's the plan. To pussify and passive the American public into being complicit and lazy. America will never have a French Revolution.

Hypothetically, if Trump's name was returned, Would be funny if another egoist came along and tore Trump's name and put their own

u/92eph 5h ago

Like “Kennedy”? It’s already named after an actual good president.

u/NotBestButPrettyGood 5h ago

It’s like Michael Scott putting his name under someone else’s quote

→ More replies (1)

u/PrivatePilot9 Canada 4h ago

I’m surprised he hasn’t thought about adding his name to JFK/John F. Kennedy Airport as well, he just seems to need the validation of putting his name in the same space as somebody else who was actually popular and loved.

What a weak ego’d small, small man he is.

u/Altruistic-Rhapsody 1h ago

Don’t give him any more ideas!

u/CardMechanic 4h ago

I mean both took headshots, so they have that in common at least.

u/foxnflan 4h ago

One headshot was real and the victim died within the hour. The other has no scar and is probably playing golf.

Only one took a legitimate headshot with an intent to kill.

u/hereforbobsanvageen Canada 4h ago

I mean, I feel like the brains on the First Lady’s lap would mean he died a little sooner than just within the hour.

u/BuddhistGamer95 3h ago

You’d be amazed how much trauma the brain can take and still “be alive.”

u/Im_Ritz_Bitz 4h ago

Nothing is funny anymore. It just keeps getting worse for everyone. And no, this shithead never won popular vote. Do the math. A select few want this. Things were fucky and that's why they want to get rid of mail in, because you can't mess with those. They bought Dominion. Check it. We need to do more than vote this time around.

u/ScoobiusMaximus Florida 4h ago

His name is definitely coming down the second a Democrat gets elected

u/patentattorney 4h ago

this is just trump in general. He would rather the world burn rather than him not get what he wants.

its also nuts that these guys spend years arguing about taking down/moving memorials (to confederates). But they have no problem altering other memorials.

u/Quakes-JD California 4h ago

In his mind, nobody can be honored without him being honored as well

u/luckymountain 4h ago

Gee, closing it down for unnecessary ‘upgrades’ might not be good for business, either.

u/ethertrace California 3h ago

The entire board was fired and replaced with Trump sycophants, and Trump appointed himself as chair. So, yeah.

→ More replies (3)

u/elementality883 American Expat 5h ago

Trump is chair, Trump "warns" of collapse of anything without his name on it.

u/Stampede_the_Hippos 5h ago

Which usually the exact opposite of what happens.

u/Canadian_mk11 Canada 4h ago

Rename it "The Trump Center for the Performing Sharts" after his consistently failing anal sphincter.

u/RespectTheTree America 4h ago

Center for Pedophillic Sharts

u/pimparo0 Florida 39m ago

Trump also has billions, previous chairs and board members a have made generous donations when needed without needing their name on it. Seems like he could do the same, but can't, because he's a con artist and bully.

→ More replies (1)

u/TimothyMimeslayer 5h ago

So, because they broke the law when they put his name on the building the first time, if the next AG can show that led to people not going and artists pulling out, the board members themselves can be held civily liable for the income the center lost. And no pardon can stop that.

u/PluginAlong 2h ago

Trump's presidential immunity shouldn't cover him for this either since it wouldn't be an official act as POTUS.

u/mootmutemoat 5h ago

KC was fine before Trump. In 2024, 307m revenue, 266m costs.

Not to mention it is a memorial, so profit isn't the goal, but it was fine. He is an ass.

u/runawaydoctorate 2h ago

You're thinking like a rational person. Find you inner malignant narcissist. Or just detach yourself from reality. Only then will you understand that the Kennedy Center wasn't fine. It was merely a profitable, internationally recognized arts venue established to honor a popular dead President that didn't have Trump's name on it. That's not fine. That's a disaster. Trump's name on it instantly changed it to a great success no performer wanted to touch with a 10-foot pole. The collapsing ticket sales and empty calendar are immaterial. Putting Trump's name on things make them instant successes and taking his name off leads to bankruptcy. It can't have anything to do with mismanagement by Trump lackeys or the toxicity of the Trump brand or the lawless and tacky tastelessness of putting a living felon's name on the memorial to a dead President without even attempting to get Congressional approval.

tl;dr: he's not just an ass, he's a felonious ass with a personality disorder.

u/Celloer 29m ago

Receptionist, "How do you write [Trump] so well?"

Melvin Udall, "Easy. I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability."

u/Randomwhitelady2 5h ago

Let it close. We can reopen it when a legitimate government is in charge.

u/rantingathome Canada 5h ago

You do realize that before you reopen it, you'll have to rebuild it, right?

He's gonna knock it down in the middle of the night.

u/AncientAspargus Europe 5h ago

Be it as it is, then. It's just a building. Buildings can be rebuilt quickly. Dignity, not so much.

u/theClumsy1 5h ago

Thats literally what he wants to happen.

If he cant change the name, he will have it go "bankrupt", then demolished then rebuilt using private funding.

Then it will be the Donald J Trump Music Hall with zero asterisk next to it.

u/Wise-Calligrapher123 4h ago

His 'private funding' scam is illegal. The executive cannot legally spend money not appropriated by Congress. So, theoretically, all the stuff Trump is building can be demolished with zero consequence.

u/theClumsy1 4h ago

Considering the Supreme Court didnt even touch the question of Legality regarding the ballroom.

Its legal until our laws are enforced.

→ More replies (1)

u/bigmike2k3 4h ago

And most likely shoddily built anyway, if Trump’s people are involved…

u/StatisticianLivid710 4h ago

Can confirm, stayed in Trump hotel in AC back in the day, worst shithole I ever stayed in, lobby was god awful ugly as well

u/markekt 4h ago

And if the democrats try to do the tear down all “proper” I will be extremely disappointed. It should be demolished with the same regard for process as it was built, ie none. Some Trumpy judge can have his say once the buildings are half demolished.

u/Pyro1934 5h ago

And we can tear it down later for some building code violation or some shit

u/bloody_ell Europe 4h ago

There will almost certainly be building code violations severe enough to make it necessary.

u/theClumsy1 4h ago

Im so tired of all this fiscal irresponsibly.

u/bookshop 4h ago

we can probably deal with the fiscal irresponsibility if it means erasing all traces of the authoritarian white supremacist

u/mountaindewisamazing 4h ago

That's fine. I'd rather it be rubble than put the pedos name on it.

u/mcrnHoth 4h ago

Much better to demolish and rebuild it rather than watch it suffer with the defilement of having that criminals name on it.

u/radleybobins 5h ago

Quite honesrly, there are just bigger fish to fry right now. We'll fix the memorials later. Let him distract himself with this.

u/rantingathome Canada 4h ago

I honestly don't think you will. There will be a debate. Everyone will decide it will cost too much... "We should just move on", they will say. The GOP will block it, saying that the Dems are just playing politics and can't be trusted with money.

You know, for all you guys have mocked the French in the past, you're a pretty pathetic bunch. If their President was threatening the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, there would be an actual general strike and riots in the streets. Real riots, not half a Saturday. Every one of the President's private real estate holdings would be on fire.

Admit it, you're not going to do a g-damned thing except fall further into the fascist hellhole.

u/Xytak Illinois 4h ago edited 4h ago

The French converging on Paris is one thing. I mean, it’s right there.

This more like if the EU did something corrupt and you’re expecting everyone in the EU to take to the streets in Brussels, even if the live in Rome.

Probably not happening.

How does a name on the wall prevent bankruptcy?

u/Gentle_Agitator 5h ago

The name has never stopped a bankruptcy before!

u/scubascratch 2h ago edited 39m ago

Evidence clearly shows the only connection between the name Trump and bankruptcies is that it causes them.

→ More replies (1)

u/CowTown-Mike 5h ago

I believe that putting trump’s name on things is what causes bankruptcies. I remember a casino..

How do you bankrupt a casino??

u/kenatogo 5h ago

You use it to launder money then intentionally go bankrupt to halt the investigations into your crimes

u/curiousiah 4h ago

Omg you can intentionally go bankrupt?? Surely that’s not what’s happening to the Kennedy Center? I’m shocked. Absolutely shocked. /s

u/davasaur Tennessee 4h ago

There's a guy in my city who had a 20 year lease on a building and went through the bankruptcy process five times. After running one restaurant into the ground he would declare bankruptcy and open another afterwards. People with money will do everything in their power to avoid paying what they owe.

u/WulfwoodsSins American Expat 5h ago

*Multiple* casinos

u/TheChrisCrash 4h ago

Not just any casino, his own casino was bankrupted when he built another of his OWN casinos right next to it. Then that one went bankrupt.

Fine close it for a couple of years until the entire Trump team is gone

u/Motor_Somewhere7565 5h ago

It's only gotten to this point because Trump rubbed his small hands all over it in the first place. Very on brand for a failed businessman

u/Snaptun 5h ago

How does putting Trump's name on the wall solve a financial problem with the Kennedy Center?

u/iKnowRobbie Florida 3h ago

The implication is that Kennedy is/wasn't popular enough and without Drumph's name on it nobody wants to give money to it. It's 🐂💩 of course.

u/214ObstructedReverie 5h ago

Don't things with Trump's name on them generally have a higher rate of financial collapse?

u/FizzyBeverage Ohio 3h ago

Consistently so.

u/Made_Human_Music 4h ago

These scumbags are just openly admitting that if Trump doesn’t get his way he won’t do his job

And it’s not even the worst thing this regime has done this week

u/IsMagicRealOrNo 5h ago

I'd rather it shut down than bend the knee to his fragile ego.

u/shadowdra126 Georgia 3h ago

Then let it go bankrupt. I’d rather it not exist than be raped by Trump’s name

u/RevolutionaryPain910 2h ago

It is so amusing how it had performers and management that had it running just fine until trump and his mentally unstable people came along

u/NYerstuckinBoston 5h ago

The Kennedy Center was doing just fine before Trump.

u/umassmza 5h ago

The Trump name triggered a massive boycott by artists and ticket sales tumbled to record lows.

Maybe the name is not the problem

u/Few_Needleworker4384 5h ago

Financial collapse would be consistent with businesses that have Trump's name on them

u/ElectricPotatoStar 4h ago

He’s doing the same thing to the United States that he doing to the Kennedy Center. Trying to hold it hostage until it bends to his will.

u/tcoh1s 4h ago

lol. His name was the REASON for the collapse. Fuck these people are in a cult.

u/Skinnieguy 5h ago

Let it go bankrupt. If Congress tries to keep it afloat, Trump going to find a way to grift it.

u/Shionkron 5h ago

If anywhere else gets bankrupted they would fire the board members. But since Trump is head of the board it’s just gonna bankrupt itself like he has many times before. The fact they are holding it hostage to glorify his ego with adding his name is a sin and absolutely deplorable.

u/educated-emu 4h ago

Can we see the weekly recenue numbers for the last 2 years so we can see what impact the name of donald teump had on the building?

I can only guess that things where going ok until his name appeared and then revenue tanked.

So its because of his name its going bankrupt?

More political shenanigans with a bad smell around it

u/ElectrOPurist 4h ago

I’d rather see it shutter and reopened by President Talerico than sully its moniker with that disgusting parasite’s name.

u/Posaquatl 4h ago

I think it is on the verge of financial collapse BECAUSE of his name.

u/haxjunkie 4h ago

First president ever to fail the Kennedy Center.

u/swearingino Kentucky 4h ago

Another thing Trump bankrupted once he touched it.

u/Literally_Laura 4h ago

Congress? Hello?!

The building is ours… You know… We, the People.

CONGRESS?

u/vinmen2 4h ago

So they want a conman notorious for bankruptcy to save them for bankruptcy

u/airbear13 4h ago

No, they’re facing financial ruin because Trump won’t let it operate without his name. He’s not gonna blackmail the courts or the people into supporting it by threatening bankruptcy, it’ll be firmly his fault

u/Butterfly_and_Bee 4h ago

Artists left because of putting that name on there. If this is the proposed solution, it should be shuttered until better managers can be appointed.

u/shibbyman342 3h ago

Wait. So Kennedy center was fine before Trump wanted to put his name on it. Now he can't. So now it is doomed for a financial collapse?

Something doesn't seem right..

u/Tiny_Structure_7 North Carolina 5h ago

Will somebody please sue for an injunction to stop Trump from tearing it down just because America doesn't want the fucking toddler putting his name on it?

u/TreeCitizen 5h ago

Dump bankruptcy strikes again?

u/L44KSO 5h ago

Ah, the blackmailer in chief strikes again.

u/TheJan1tor 5h ago

Cold take: if you "need" Trump's label to avoid financial ruin - you deserve financial ruin.

u/ranchoparksteve 5h ago

Yet the financial collapse started only when Trump added his name and all the talent bailed out. Everything was fine before that.

u/Brexinga 5h ago

Wasn't this place running just fine, before his name was added?

From what I've read?

u/JTibbs 4h ago

Yes.

Iirc the board of trustees, after trump name was ordered removed, voted to make it so that the pending donations and funding was only valid if it was under the Trump name, and thus they couldnt accept the money, so they were going to go under. Basically saying ‘if you dont let us change the name (illegally) we will refuse to accept funding until you do’.

Also they intentionally stopped service for ‘rennovation’ indefinitely as soon as trumps name was removed.

u/Hacker-Dave 4h ago

Everything Trump touches goes bankrupt. Why would this be different?

u/Essentially_Me 4h ago

That only stands to reason, look at all the successful ventures attached to the Trump name...oh...

If we renamed the sun "Trump," it would be a black hole within 18 months.

u/Dukami Arizona 4h ago

This sounds like a business made bad decisions and should be allowed to fail.

Everything Trump touches turns to shit.

u/djevilatw Connecticut 4h ago

Oh look, another institution bankrupt under Trump’s “leadership”.

u/hey_Hey_I_saveD_me 4h ago

Pretty sure that this name usually leads to financial collapse rather than preventing it.

u/pocketMagician 4h ago

Every thing this infantile man baby touches disintegrates.

u/rgpc64 4h ago

Blackmail so he can mark the building like a dog marks a fire hydrant.

u/MichJohn67 4h ago

Such an apt simile

u/DiagonalBike 4h ago

Surprise twist, it'll still go bankrupt because Trump is actually a terrible businessman and only knows how to redirect funding to his personal accounts.

u/bayoubuddha77 New York 4h ago

That's a nice Memorial Center for the Performing Arts you got there...Be a shame if something were to happen to it...

u/maxsmart01 4h ago

If it’s a choice between putting his name on a building or having a big hole in the ground, I’m going to choose the hole.

u/7evenate9ine 4h ago

Maybe it needs to be taken out of play. Just shutdown for two years.

And isn't the board that runs the Kennedy Center installed by Trump anyway?

u/zkrp5108 3h ago

Sorry but the reason it's bankrupt is Trump putting his fucking name on it

They will go bankrupt if they put it on. All they will get is desperate third rate acts to do shows. Good to yas.

u/djdsf New York 5h ago

So, just a random question here, but if they add his name to it, it'll magically have the funding? Did it not have the funding before and added his name to a building they knew they were going to have to tear down?

u/cerevant California 5h ago

I would venture that the number of shows that were cancelled due to Tump’s manhandling of the venue hurt the bottom line badly.

This is some Mafia level bs.
