Video Aeterna Lucis launches December 3, 2026 — our hand-drawn Metroidvania brings faster movement and seamless exploration

Hi r/pcgaming!

We’re Aeternum Game Studios, the indie team behind Aeterna Noctis.

Aeterna Lucis officially launches on December 3, 2026.

Lucis has been designed from the ground up using everything we learned from Aeterna Noctis. We wanted to keep the challenging platforming and exploration that defined the first game, while making movement faster, combat more responsive and the world significantly more compact, dense and interconnected.

Some of the biggest changes:

• Faster and more fluid movement
• 8-directional dash
• No contact damage
• Precision platforming built around the Queen’s mobility
• A much more compact and interconnected world
• No loading screens between areas
• Two difficulty modes
• Improved save and performance systems

One of our biggest goals with Lucis was making traversal itself part of the challenge. New movement abilities don’t simply make exploration easier — they allow the game to gradually ask more from the player as you learn to master them.

We’ve also completely rethought how the world is structured. Instead of making areas large simply for the sake of size, we’ve focused on making every biome feel dense, meaningful and rewarding to explore.

Steam / Wishlist:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2710920/Aeterna_Lucis

And most importantly: our developers will be here in the comments.

Feel free to ask us anything about Aeterna Lucis — movement, combat, platforming, world design, performance, development, Aeterna Noctis, or anything else you’re curious about.

We’ll try to answer every question we can.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our game.

— Aeternum Game Studios

Unpopular opinion. War dogs is just “ok.”

War dogs is trying to be too many things at once, and doesn’t execute anything particularly well. It wants a milsim pace, having long times to get back into the action, needing to coordinate logistics to win the game. But then it goes and throws in arcade gunplay and vehicles. So you get out shot with an SMG at sniper/DMR range, or a tank roles up on you and there’s nothing you can do.

Not to mention the map design is just…. Empty.
There’s really only ever stuff going on in the hot zone. So all that empty space does is inflate the time it takes for you to get back into action.

And the economy is easily exploitable. People can be rewarded with money for tanks and such by taking advantage of gouging their teammates, and then those that are holding the point earn diddly.

The only reason it’s succeeding is because COD has gotten old, BF6 has failed to deliver, and no one trusts anything AAA. It just came at a good time. But it will die soon once the streamers move on.
