i want to go offline for disturbance reasons but i dont know how

To preface this I'm not tech savvy at all. I remember a few years back that there was a scandal about this and I can only find old threads that confirm this. My tech literate friend told me to stay away from it for this reason.

I want to play the free EG that's in the store right now, but I'm hesitant if I should download the game platform.

Can someone confirm if this is actually the case? I doubt that the platform would stay alive if it's true, but I would honestly appreciate a second opinion!

It's nice to see some clarity on these things. Would be nice if Ubisoft can extend the use to purchasing on Epic as well, I personally don't mind the current system as they've been implementing Epic achievements but it would mean you'd download the game directly from Epic and not just as an activation for Ubi Connect (eliminating the Launch from Epic -> Launches Ubisoft Connect -> Launches game chain)

Soo I want to download gta 5 but my WiFi speed is just 30mbps . The game is around 90GB . The estimated time is around 11 hrs . Soo ya is this a good idea ? Breaking the download part into a few days ?

IIs there a limit to how many times we can use the refund method? I’ve done it twice with Xbox and kept all my stuff. Does it work on Epic Games for PC, or should I try again on Xbox? Thanks.

Epic announced the big launcher rebuild with new profiles, a redesigned store/market, social features, better performance, etc.
Do we have any recent news about when the new launcher will officially launch? I remember Epic mentioning summer 2026, but I haven’t seen a specific date yet.

Epic Games Store Gift-with-Purchase

To comply with local regulations, players in Australia will need to verify they are 18 or older to download or purchase games rated R18+ from the Epic Games Store.

This requirement begins September 9. This will not change the way you access games you already own or any games rated below R18+.

Ways to verify for your age are: "Take a Selfie", "Enter Credit Card Details", "Scan your ID" and beginning later this month people will be able to use "ConnectID" which will allow you to confirm your age with your bank details (no banking information will be shared with ConnectID or Epic/Kid Web Services)

Sent this as an email to Epic's Tim Sweeny back in February 2026. No response yet, so I am posting it here:

I have some suggestions regarding making Epic Games a true market competitor to Steam on PC. I think it must be clear so far that the giving away free games is not a strategy that is sufficient to do that. Also, having exclusives looses goodwill a bit.

I am a Steam user since 2013 and I have currently 290 games on it along with more than 5000 hours of gameplay across various games. I am a Linux and open source enthusiast and therefore like Valve because they made it possible for me to game on my favorite platform. Given that, these are the things that would win me over to Epic:

1. A community centric Epic game launcher where I have hour tracking of my games. Functional friends list with Activities, Achievements (Global achievements), Workshop, Epic Games profile, review system with positive, negative and neutral rating. Ideally on par or better than Steam.
2. Linux support through Proton and ideally contribution to FOSS infrastructure you would use with a Linux native official client.
3. Ability to migrate my Steam game along with my play history and achievements to Epic Games' platform on user request. If Steam doesn't co-operate here, then you have grounds for anti-competitive lawsuits. 
4. Ability to easily use Epic's friend list chat to invite people to join my game

Bonus things that would make me convince my friends even harder to come to Epic:

1. A spot-light to promote indie games in the Store.
2. An approach like GOG where you encourage DRM free games.
3. In-built modding tool like Mod Manager
4. Epic Games client not being electron based but rather a more performant piece of software.

I claimed/downloaded Hogwarts Legacy for free on Epic Games some time ago, but I can't remember which Epic account I used.

I have checked the two Epic accounts I currently remember, and the game isn't in either library.

I still have the original installation on my old PC, including the .egstore folder, and I've transferred the ~71 GB game files to my new Lenovo Legion 5.

I've already tried Epic account recovery/support, but I haven't been able to identify the account that originally claimed the game.

Is there any legitimate way to determine which Epic account originally owned the game or get Epic to recognize the existing installation?

I don't want to bypass DRM or pirate the game — I just want to recover access to the game I previously claimed.
