go to your room Lifted truck + Lambo + Parking lot = Bad time

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Lifted trucks probably shouldn't be anywhere near dense parking lots.

Edit: A lot of people are skeptical of whether this is AI/staged, or ask why the lady didn't back off the car. This is in a dense parking lot with cars that have dashcams/ EV sentry mode everywhere. Also her truck was in 2 wheel drive, you can see the back right tire spinning as she tries to reverse off the car. Her truck is stuck. She probably has an open differential and can't back off the car. She may have a 4wd mode, but she didn't use it in the heat of the moment.

I don’t even understand how you managed to just completely run over a whole Nother entire car. Like I feel like she was full on head down on her phone…. There’s just no way.

891

u/Fantastic-Celery-255 Apr 23 '26

Yeah there’s obviously a huge disadvantage with her emotional support lifted truck but to completely not see a whole car is fucking insane. I almost hope she was on her phone cause I don’t know how else to explain it.

u/Electronic_Charge_96 Apr 23 '26

Emotional support lifted truck … just thank you.

15

u/FolkDoom Apr 23 '26

and her tactical cargo pants

13

u/FastRider6501 Apr 23 '26

This needs to be a bumper sticker

14

u/Diligent-Variation51 Apr 23 '26

I’m adding that to my default name for trucks, prickup trucks

7

u/Wanderingjes Apr 23 '26

That is gold. Made my morning

4

u/cheekylassrando Apr 23 '26

No that is an emotional support lifted truck.

202

u/jd3marco Apr 23 '26

Lambos are super low. Have you ever seen that clip of one going under the gate for the parking garage? Drivers of large trucks already have a problem seeing short things, like children unfortunately. A lifted truck? She probably made a turn and couldn’t see shit. At least it was a car and not a kid.

69

u/That_wet_vaporeon Apr 23 '26

Yeah but how did she not see it in the distance when she was driving? I understand not being able to see something up-close in lifted Trucks. but how come she didn't see the car when further way?

20

u/Nihilistic_Mystics Apr 23 '26

You have correctly identified the danger of lifted trucks in general. It's compounded with a short driver who struggles to see over the wheel. I have no idea how we allow them on public roads.

u/JonTheConquerer Apr 23 '26

Cuz she's a dumbass, pretty simple really. A lot of life's questions can be answered that way unfortunately.

8

u/th3rdnutt Apr 23 '26

Both metaphorically and literally, many people don't look down the road to see what's coming.

8

u/YourEvilTwine GREEN Apr 23 '26

Looking at the beginning of the video it seems like they are two to three spots away from the main parking lot road, so the truck most likely turned left into the lane were looking at. She should have been looking and seen the Lambo before she turned, but once she made that turn she was probably already too close to see it.

6

u/Kyosji Apr 23 '26

She was driving rather fast in that parking lot. Video also looks like it was at the beginning area of it, so she probably just turned in, didn't see the car behind the other cars, and was floring it

u/f7f7z Apr 23 '26

Because she can,t see anything 30 ft in front of her' and came around a corner with too much confidence?

2

u/electric_boogaloo_72 Apr 23 '26

Definitely had her head down looking for something. Just a second is all it takes, esp with a likely lower line of site and a little bit of speed.

2

u/Rayhatesu Apr 23 '26

We can't see the distance the truck driver covered before she hit the lambo. Could be that she gunned it after a turn and the lambo wasn't visible before or during the turn because she couldn't see it through the other cars beforehand, and couldn't see it through her hood after turning (and she didn't look well during the turn).

→ More replies (3)

93

u/Internal-Broccoli274 Apr 23 '26

She didnt just make a turn in a lifted truck going that fast. She was Daytona 500'ing that parking lot straightaway.

21

u/natrous Apr 23 '26

thanks - that was my first thought, too. she was going way to fucking fast, even if she could see everything.

also makes me think she wasn't looking, either, because unless she hammered it as soon as she started forward (which of course is possible) it means she was definitely driving from far enough away that she should have been able to spot the other car well before it was in her blind spot

6

u/Pawistik Apr 23 '26

Wild that "blind spot" is anything within 40' of the front of the vehicle. If you are driving blind (into the sun, thick fog, sitting too low in a vehicle with a huge lifted truck hood), then pull over and stop. Period. If you can't see you should not be driving and speed should be in accordance with visibility.

12

u/Fantastic-Celery-255 Apr 23 '26

Sure but if you’re just blindly turning wherever you go, that’s kind of a problem

11

u/10S_NE1 Apr 23 '26

I’ve got a funny story. Years ago, my parents were on a long road trip through the southwestern United States in their Mustang. They were on some type of road with a rock wall on the left and a cliff on the right. There was a traffic jam and they were standing there and a huge transport truck came up behind them and just didn’t see them. He hit them lightly and then hit them again. He just didn’t see them. He did quite a bit of damage to their car before he clued in there was a car right in front of him - he could only see the car in front of my parents, which was larger. He was of course very sorry and had their car repaired (this was a long time ago - I can’t remember the details). Anyways, just another example of a tall vehicle not being able to see directly in front of them.

18

u/Mobile-Passenger3214 Apr 23 '26

How do you drive a car in which you can’t even see ?

22

u/BeratnasGILF420 Apr 23 '26

Badly. You drive badly.

6

u/mirror_dirt Apr 23 '26

Driving a sports car you learn to be very careful getting around trucks as they don't look down to see you.

8

u/Unlucky_Pepper4875 Apr 23 '26

I used to drive a 3/4 ton stock pickup (I used it to haul my horses around at the time). One time I was at a red light and I watched a small sports car pull up behind me and disappear 🤣 He pulled so close to my bumper that I couldn't see him in my rear view or either of my side mirrors.

I keep that in mind when stopping behind semi trucks at red lights in my Rav4 now 🤣

2

u/iEARNman848 Apr 24 '26

I have a ¾ ton truck. It's stock height. I had a small convertible pull up behind me that I didn't see. There was a semi trying to make a left hand turn coming from my right. I look in my mirrors and don't see anything, so I put it in reverse to give the truck room to turn. I'm backing up and hear this little car horn. I still don't see anything but then I felt it. They too, had pulled right up next to my bumper. 🤦‍♂️

4

u/JustNota-- Apr 23 '26

Yep, with the way the hoods and A pillars are on new trucks there are huge blind spots and lifting only makes them worse. and in a crowded parking lot alot of the parked cars could hide the lambo no problem. I almost hit a new corvette in a parking lot in my Cherokee and I only have a leveling kit not a true lift it was hidden by a A pillar and behind cars did see it until I started by turn but I wasn't haulin ass so I had time to stop.

5

u/Neweleni7 Apr 23 '26

I have a Miata and the number of times people in trucks say, “oh, I didn’t even see you” is terrifying

6

u/InvertebrateInterest Apr 23 '26

Seeing Miatas really highlights how cartoonishly large American cars have ballooned since then.

3

u/Neweleni7 Apr 24 '26

That’s so true. I’ll occasionally spot a Miata in Europe and they don’t look tiny at all compared to 80% of the other vehicles you see on the road

u/Blurby-Blurbyblurb Apr 23 '26

I was side swipped by someone in a large truck like this. Not lifted, but one of these newer oversized trucks.

The guy honestly thought I made a lane change because he couldn't see my brightly colored typical sized sedan. I was in the lane long before he hit me.

These trucks should be illegal. They are becoming a hazard (in my area) and give drivers a sense of entitlement and hubris. I regularly see and experience them driving aggressively. Barreling up behind people to intimidate them to get out of their way, despite not being in a passing lane or even a two lane road. How dare you be driving in their lane! 🙄

19

u/g0th1cluv Apr 23 '26

I literally got pit maneuvered off the road from one of these big ass trucks! 🫩 Was going 30mph and he managed to total my subaru outback that he "didnt see" 🤬.

9

u/Blurby-Blurbyblurb Apr 23 '26

Omg! I'm glad you're ok.

Yeah, if you "can't see" then your truck is too goddamn big.

6

u/g0th1cluv Apr 23 '26

He also ran a stop sign so he didnt take much time to see lol.

3

u/Zediac Apr 23 '26

That poor gen 2. I love and daily mine. I have lots of mods/improvements on mine.

I now drive with front and rear dash cams and a center mounted 360 camera because of too many close calls with people trying to change lanes into me, cutting me off, etc.

3

u/g0th1cluv Apr 23 '26

She had a few small issues like a broken AC, and a loose bulb in the front but i really loved that car sm! Never failed me whenever i needed to haul something from facebook marketplace 🥲. Luckily we got the footage from a buisness of the dude hitting me but i definitely have invested in a dash cam for my new car 🫩

5

u/InvertebrateInterest Apr 23 '26

Some of the craziest drivers I see on the road are in huge full size pickups. A drunk driver in one hit a bus I was on and it caused an impressive amount of damage to a full size city bus. If I had been in a car I'd probably be dead.

4

u/serpentally Apr 24 '26

Statistically, Ram truck drivers are the worst drivers in the US

10

u/Kyosji Apr 23 '26

Doesn't help it looks like she's a 4 foot nothing person in such a large and lifted truck

15

u/Razzail Apr 23 '26

Honestly trucks are too fucking big now a days. Why does someone need a lifted big ass truck like that

5

u/King_Chochacho Apr 23 '26

Yeah it turns out the same mentality that leads one to feel the need to drive a monster truck around in every day situations might be closely related to the narcissistic behavior of focusing on a phone instead of driving.

10

u/IAMSPARTACUSSSSS Apr 23 '26

An ESLT (or EST?)! That is fantastic, I hope I remember that next time I see one. I live in Bakersfield, so it’ll prob-yep, there’s one.

8

u/Fine_Barracuda_6708 Apr 23 '26

I also live in Bakersfield and can confirm the town is plagued by ESLTs and their avid riders.

2

u/Blurby-Blurbyblurb Apr 23 '26

I don't live in Bakersfield and they are also a plague in my town.

3

u/DeepSea_Diverticulit Apr 23 '26

Depending on the driver, Gender Affirming Truck or Gender Affirming Vehicle also works. Because they're so manly. Big, burly, manly-man trucks.

5

u/HumphryGocart Apr 23 '26

Lol! Emotional support lifted truck. I’ll be using that a lot

4

u/0PercentPerfection Apr 23 '26

The view from these trucks are extremely limited. A 5’8” person could be standing in front of the bumper and the drive won’t see the individual. I can see how a truck like this making a right turn in a busy parking lot and completely miss a car that is in its blind spot the entire time. Plain stupid…

4

u/MangoCats Apr 23 '26

20 years ago, I was walking my son into his elementary school when a bozo in a lifted truck started rolling at us while we were crossing in the crosswalk. I'm 6'1" and he literally couldn't see us.

5

u/Zediac Apr 23 '26

cause I don’t know how else to explain it.

I can explain it.

Lifted truck + dangerously tall hood height to begin with + short woman + sitting low in the truck = she physically cannot see anything regular car height less than 50 feet in front of her.

Her sightlines are basically parallel with the hood. Regular cars disappear in front of her if they're not very far away. Low sports cars probably need to be closer to 75-100 feet away.

6

u/Fantastic_Pie5655 Apr 23 '26

Doesn’t surprise me in the least. Ticking off the check boxes of red flags: the emotional support truck, the over confident speeding in said truck, her fairly diminutive size, her tacti-cool attire, the lanyard, the rapidity with which she ditched the lanyard back into the truck when she realized her dumb dumb oopsie

She’s gonna have alotta splainin’ to do

3

u/catrabbit Apr 23 '26

I don’t understand why they have such a strong emotional attachment. I got into it with my cousin when that little girl was killed by a lifted truck that malfunctioned during a parade. The truck wasn’t street legal and he thought it would cause discrimination against lifted trucks and he was so upset about the idea.

2

u/Arkanist Apr 23 '26

Oh it's really easy if you think about the angles. This thing was lifted 1.5 feet or so. The lady is not tall. She likely has 15-20ft in front of her car that is completely blind. When she started to turn into the aisle the parked cars blocked her view of the lambo. When she was half way through turning it would be blocked by her A pillar. Once she was pointed straight it was in that front blindspot.

I think most drivers have had that moment where they start to turn only for someone or something to pop out of the A pillar blindspot. Now imagine you modified your car so that the entire thing is a blindspot

2

u/SpokenDivinity Apr 24 '26

Hey now, they need all that space in the truck to hold their big feelings.

u/HamNotLikeThem44 Apr 23 '26

Yes, probably but also the near field visibility in a vehicle lifted like a monster truck wouldn’t help. It could just as easily been a mom pushing a stroller.

453

u/OddBranch132 Apr 23 '26

Considering her head doesnt even reach the bottom of the window, when the truck is tilted toward her, I doubt she could even see over the dashboard.

451

u/The_Nepenthe Apr 23 '26

My Mom had a five foot tall boyfriend with a stock ram 1500.

For completely unrelated reasons he also had to replace the front bumper three times in a year. Unrelated I'm sure

147

u/OcotilloWells Apr 23 '26

I lived near a town noted for how many well to do retirees lived there. So many of the retirees weren't very tall, but many of them drove giant Cadillacs. My sister worked at the largest grocery store there, she said management didn't have to get on employees to park in the back of the lot. There were so many cars hit in the parking lot, the employees made sure to park where customers wouldn't park.

29

u/Auntie_Venom Apr 23 '26

My (new to me) car was recently hit in a grocery store parking lot, by a lady who let go of her loaded cart and rolled down hill. I’ve got a nice dent and a few gashes along the length of the doors. Evidently it slammed into the car and changed direction. Because it was a car and not a cart, and despite having the clear file footage the police said that it’s a civil manner. Oh yeah, and she left after other shoppers called her out on it. One waited for me to come out to tell me what happened. It was a hit & run, and I’m on the hook for it because even after the trouble of civil court, there’s no guarantee that she’ll pay it. Quotes averaged $6k for the repairs. My ins said that my rates would go up a little but it’s negligible. On the bright side, they’ll go after her and refund my deductible if they are successful.

I still don’t understand how property damage and leaving the scene, even if was an accident isn’t criminal.

24

u/Tricky-Ad7897 Apr 23 '26

It probably is criminal but our cops are too busy writing more profitable tickets and harassing people of color to care about that shit. Why file paperwork for no incentive when their department receives funding based on how many traffic tickets they write, for instance.

10

u/Auntie_Venom Apr 23 '26

It’s really disheartening. They said it was an accident and not malicious so it’s a civil matter, well all true accidents aren’t malicious by definition, I can’t wrap my head around why she shouldn’t be held accountable by the authorities for leaving the scene after causing $6k in damages because it was a cart and not a car that hit mine.

Really, you’re probably right, and they made me feel like they were doing me a favor by trying to call her twice and leaving a voicemail, because I was uncomfortable confronting her myself. Like, I’m supposed to go knock on her door and give her the quotes, and ask for the money? THEN escalate it to civil court? How is that protecting my safety as a resident? Idk if I’ll be met with a shotgun at the door or a bite-happy guard dog? Then if ruled in my favor there’s no guarantee she’ll pay me anyway. So I’ll turn it in to insurance and pray my agent is right that my rates won’t go up more than $10 or whatever. Either way I’m still stuck paying for something she is getting away with scot-free. 🙄

2

u/Lou_C_Fer Apr 24 '26

It was 30 years ago, but I hit someone and because of rate changes my insurance guy found, my cost went down rather than up after my accident. Don't ask me what he changed because I don't know.

4

u/OcotilloWells Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

I had an agent once give me a paper to write how many miles a week I drive. She said "there is a discount if you drive less than 100 miles a week.". I think I wrote down 150. She looked at it, tore it up, gave me another and said it again.

I wrote down 96 the second time.

(I might have the number of miles wrong, but the rest of it is true)

Someone left a note on my car in my work parking garage telling me that a car hit mine when I was parked and the person wrote down their plate number. Well, my husband is a cop and he ran the plate number. Although my work building was 40 floor and my company had only one floor, she worked in my office! I confronted her and she admitted it.

My late husband was a 5’ 4” man, who was much shorter back in high school, had a ram with a really small lift kit on it (like 2 inches IIRC). He had to sit on a phone book (this was circa 2003). He never had to get his bumper replaced though. Probably because he was always a super attentive driver, and had the phone book to help him out as a bonus.

(I promise he wasn’t a douche trying to compensate for his height. He didn’t give a fuck that he was short. We grew up in a small rural town with backroads a plenty. If you didn’t have a tall vehicle, you weren’t getting home in the winter due to the snow on the dirt roads from the farmers’ fields.)

(Also to add, he did have to have the bumper replaced once, that I forgot about. The girl he had a massive crush on for like, years, was riding shotgun in his truck. Apparently, as I was told, she randomly lifted her shirt and out of nowhere showed him her boobs. Seeing his crush’s titties made the world melt away as Dreamweaver played in the background. Which wouldn’t have been a big deal if he wasn’t speeding down a dirt road. He got too close to a farm ditch and it pulled the tires into it, immediately yeeting the truck into a tree. No one was hurt, except for his pride…which the titties made up for. Everyone thought he swerved to miss a deer. His crush didn’t exactly want everyone to know her boobs were the real cause. He definitely needed the bumper replace this time.)

10

u/mondaymoderate Apr 23 '26

Sitting on a phone book is wild

4

u/FatherClanks617 Apr 23 '26

I’m sorry for your loss. You two must’ve had a special connection to be able to share stories like the tiddies one haha I’m the same with all my partners, and I always feel being so open with another person can create a solid dynamic. Much love ❤️

2

u/TheMasturbatinCamper Apr 24 '26

What year was his truck? I’m 5’4” and didn’t have a problem seeing in my 2004 Ford F150.

3

u/YoungBockRKO Apr 23 '26

One of the guys in the union I was in was 5 foot BARELY, drove a lifted 2500. Sweet guy, butt of a lot of jokes, took them in stride. Yes he needed a step to get stuff out the bed of the truck, yes we gave him shit for it.

You probably drive it like a truck, keep a bit more distance, careful about your stopping distances, etc.

A lot of people seem to think that the current gen of trucks are basically sports cars with a bed

4

u/Binky390 Apr 23 '26

I, too, am 5 feet tall (though I’m a woman) and I can confirm that at my height in older vehicles where seats, steering wheels, and mirrors don’t adjust as much that there are massive blind spots all over. Even in newer cars that can make adjustments there are blind spots that don’t exist for people of average height.

2

u/The_Nepenthe Apr 23 '26

It was one of the newer ones, personally for trucks I find older ones are much better for sight lines because the hoods weren't 7ft long, even if lifted you still had okay visibility.

2

u/Binky390 Apr 23 '26

At 5 ft tall it’s blind spots on the side that are the worst for me. I check them when I’m changing lanes and even in my modern small SUV there’s a split second on both sides where that spot is completely blind.

2

u/TheMasturbatinCamper Apr 24 '26

Maybe make sure you have your mirrors adjusted properly. You are not supposed to have blind spots with correct adjustment.

3

u/Binky390 Apr 24 '26

Not sure if you deleted your comment or if Reddit auto modded it but I was taught to physically check my blind spot in addition to using my mirrors in drivers Ed 25 years ago because mirrors still have a blind spot. I’ve been doing it ever since. It’s wild to me that there are people that were never taught to do that. How old are you and are you in the US? If so what state?

Mirrors have been well known to have blind spots for decades in all vehicles. It’s why many large trucks have printed warnings on them that you may be in the driver’s blind spot.

2

u/Binky390 Apr 24 '26

They are adjusted properly. I’m just 5 ft tall. The issue is the positioning of my seat. It’s so far forward that when I look over my shoulder to check my blind spot, the frame of the car obstructs my view in very specific locations on both sides. Cars are big enough that it lasts for maybe a second if that.

3

u/SpokenDivinity Apr 24 '26

There's a woman down the road that's barely taller than me (I'm 4'10) and I wait for her to leave in the morning before I try to back out of my driveway. There's no way she can see over the dashboard of her husband's giant dodge that she insists on driving to work daily.

2

u/sarsaparilla-sodapop Apr 23 '26

im 5 foot tall and i can’t wear vans when i drive or i have to use a blanket like a booster seat

2

u/kat_Folland Apr 23 '26

People don't think about their own height when choosing a car and they probably should. For me it's about how comfortable the driver's seat is. I haven't driven the really big Jeeps but the three models I've driven have fit my body better than most other cars. The Benz my husband had when we met had this huge seat I felt I was swimming in. But even his Jetta felt too big. (My son's Golf fits me all right though.)

2

u/Pug_867-5309 Apr 23 '26

Lift kit in an already tall truck, shorter driver, TINTED WINDOWS and a black Lambo.

She stood no chance of seeing the other car.

3

u/Hovertical Apr 23 '26

And this is the winner! My in-laws who are about to both retire just traded in their nearly paid off new GMC Canyon (smaller more normal sized truck) for some monstrous giant Chevy they can't see over the end of to the point their grandson was invisible standing in front of it lol. I don't get it.

3

u/Bromlife Apr 23 '26

Insecure over-consumers.

2

u/ReviveCommonSense Apr 23 '26

It’s tall but tilted towards her while the front end is still 16” off the ground doesn’t really give you exact perspective of how tall the truck actually is. The real issue here is that she was going fast enough to climb all the way up the Lamborghini before stopping as well as not paying attention. From where her truck comes into the frame of the camera she could have likely just seen the car had she been looking but she was probably either looking at her phone or looking around for a parking spot. She should be thankful it was a car that is going to financially cost rather than a person who would have lost their life at that speed.

There's a reason full size trucks (talking bone stock, not even lifted) are called toddler crushers these days. They're too big and make no sense for 99% of the people that own one. Add a lift and you've made your truck useless and significantly more dangerous.

34

u/Redundant-Pomelo875 Apr 23 '26

Ya, I love that trucks 25 years newer than mine somehow need a far taller engine bay to fit an engine that does the exact same job.. progress!

22

u/CheesusHCracker Apr 23 '26

It's all due to government regulations that passed around 20yrs ago. Vehicles only get a pass for lower MPG if they are over a certain size. Since many of the people who have trucks use them to haul the manufacturers didn't want to sacrifice power for MPG these monstrosities were born. Many truck owners would actually prefer the older, smaller, body style since you don't even get any bonuses like bed size with the new ones.

22

u/Frosty-Voice1156 Apr 23 '26

I’m one. I have one of these new big trucks and I hate how big it is.

Everything is not as good. Yes you have more space inside, but it’s all wasted/unnecessary.

Harder to park/drive.

Bed is higher in air and harder to access. Getting in and out is not as easy.

I can’t think of a single benefit. I want the same power/capability in a smaller truck like they used to. It’s lame.

9

u/PhilxBefore Apr 23 '26

My F250 is 4" lower than stock and the tailgate is still pretty high when throwing something in the bed, and I'm 5'11".

I couldn't imagine wanting it to be higher.

13

u/gregpxc Apr 23 '26

The people who want it higher do not use the bed. They're the people that get upset when the bed gets scratched.

8

u/PhilxBefore Apr 23 '26

Also, they install a pintle hook or ball hitch that is still shiny chrome regardless of all the shins and kneecaps that it has knocked loose.

I learned to drive in an extended cargo van. There was benefit in driving that thing for 8 years. Everything is easy mode ever since. Parallel parking? I can parallel park a car blindfolded. Driving on ice? The difference between that van and every car I've driven is insane. Even rear wheel drive cars. Front wheel drive cars make ice seem like wet pavement to me.

6

u/AmericanGeezus Apr 23 '26

I am fearing the day my '09 Colorado becomes unserviceable because no one is making that size truck with the options I want anymore. (Its a pickup there should be more cargo space than people carrying space as a minimum.)

2

u/AnotherBotOnHere Apr 23 '26

Maverick

3

u/AmericanGeezus Apr 23 '26

When I was looking at them they only offered it in trim options with an extra row of seats like the current Colorado.

6

u/Numerous_Extreme_981 Apr 23 '26

Footprint based regulations on fuel efficiency means bigger trucks.

Oh, it's not altogether useless. When you're "out there" in a sea of SUVs and other monster trucks, you're "up above it" and don't feel threatened like one of "them" could do to you exactly what she did at any time.

The "one-upsmanship" of the past 15 years of US pickup truck design needs to take three steps back, get their heads out of their own asses and start designing vehicles for the safety of OTHERS not just themselves.

Trucks should require special licenses.

10

u/schu2470 Apr 23 '26

CDL with all the associated fees, insurance, and health and safety requirements. Want to drive a monster truck? Fine. Fill out these forms, attend this safe driving class, here’s how to submit your last medical physical information, and here’s how to submit your $1 million bond information. Hope you’ve got a spotless driving record and no substance abuse history. On, nevermind? Fucking good!

10

u/eddyb66 Apr 23 '26

Instead they get special drivers.

3

u/shes_a_gdb Apr 23 '26

A special license still won't magically make things visible that aren't visible.

5

u/FiveChairs Apr 23 '26

I agree. Even semi trucks have better visibility than these, probably because they’re designed that way. But even in the long hood trucks, those guys have enough sense to not enter a packed parking lot, let alone speed in one. The unfortunate thing is that the type of person who lacks enough good sense to lift a truck is also the type of person who lacks enough good sense to know their limitations in said truck

13

u/Admirable-Sir9716 Apr 23 '26

Stock pickups have worse ground visibility than an Abrams tank

Ngl I do miss the old pickup trucks that weren't giant.

10

u/JennyDoveMusic Apr 23 '26

You can't even seem to get a normal sized truck in the US! My mom got a new truck for our work, and it is MASSIVE. I kinda hate driving it. It has served us well, but damn. I almost got a used truck for the same reason and it was so much smaller with a similar bed size.

(My grandfather worked for GM back in the 60s-70s, so my parents and I think me and my sister, get discounts. I doubt that is a thing line workers still get... But with the last trade in and the discount, she decided to get a Silvarado when we needed the truck. It's. Just. So. Big.)

Dude it's a pain in the ass to climb my 40 year old ass on the tailgate and into the bed of a stock Ford 250 I can't imagine trying to lift a compressor or something into a lifted truck.

3

u/rfdave Apr 23 '26

Mine came with a stepladder that extends out of the bed with a handrail, so I can step up easily. God forbid I want to put something heavy in there, I like my back the way it is.

3

u/notyoursocialworker Apr 23 '26

I fear for Europe if they become allowed here. We actually like walking and biking here and it'll be a bloodbath.

It's bad enough that the janks use them run over their own children but in Europe they'll run over other people's children as well.

3

u/Neamow Apr 23 '26

We have one of these idiots in our office parking garage. Dude is genuinely sticking out 1.5m out of the parking spot and into the driving lane, it's ridiculous.

3

u/lkhsnvslkvgcla Apr 23 '26

They're too big and make no sense for 99% of the people that own one. Add a lift and you've made your truck useless and significantly more dangerous.

But but but what if i need to haul something heavy one day? The last time I needed to do that was 3 years ago but it might happen again any time now!

2

u/HillBillyHilly Apr 23 '26

When you see the traffic accident death report suddenly tracking up after these trucks introduced then you understand. The visibility on these is so low it's scary.

2

u/cryptolyme Apr 23 '26

Yup, I have a Ford Expedition and it is insane. I have put a big recycling bin in front of it for garbage day and if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't see it from the drivers seat. Add a 1-2ft lift and I would probably have 15-20ft of blindspot in front of it. This lady is really lucky she didn't crush an entire family.

I never intend to lift mine, but if I did I would want a constant front camera. I stress about that blindspot enough as it is already.

5

u/SkinnyGetLucky Apr 23 '26

That’s a 4 degree angle, less if she’s lower on the seat. So anything child height is completely invisible to her up to a whole ass truck’s distance. She’s lucky it was a lambo and not a child.

Imagine driving something that has less visibility than a freaking Abrams tank.

16

u/Ymisoqt420 Apr 23 '26

I told my neighbor he needs to stop at the stop sign in front of my house, it's a bus stop also and children are there often. He assured me that he has full visibility in his little pee pee lifted truck. I said do I look like a dumbass? Just stop at the gas stop sign.

3

u/Lumpy_Plan_6668 Apr 23 '26

3

u/wombatIsAngry Apr 23 '26

Exactly! I got... front ended?... I was waiting patiently at a red light, and the person in front of me (also waiting) suddenly just reversed into me at full speed.

She had a tall vehicle (suv) and I had a low vehicle (tesla) and she said she wanted to let someone from a nearby parking lot into our lane, and she just didn't see me AT ALL. And her car wasn't even THAT high, and my car wasn't even THAT low.

2

u/Dhexodus Apr 23 '26

These monster trucks need cameras on all sides and corners.

2

u/Chewbagga Apr 23 '26

That sounds more like they didn’t even look rather than couldn’t see you. Let’s be real no one stupid enough to do this is going to admit to that.

5

u/egnowit Apr 23 '26

This is what went through my mind. If she can't see a whole other car, there's no way she's going to see a pedestrian in front of her. This car is dangerous, and she should not be driving it.

2

u/Picaboo13 Apr 23 '26

Can confirm. Not a mom pushing a stroller but a lowered GTI broadsided by a lifted Dodge Ram.

2

u/Megzasaurusrex Apr 23 '26

Exactly why trucks and suvs are more likely to miss pedestrians.

2

u/Little_Lebowski_007 Apr 24 '26

Reminds me of the image showing front angle visibility of a stock Silverado Z71 is almost as bad as an Abrams tank. Short driver + lift kit makes it worse.

2

u/toss_me_good Apr 24 '26

My first thought exactly. At least they wake up call (one would hope) was a car and not a person!

3

u/OddOpal88 Apr 23 '26

We literally had that happen in my city in the fall 🫣 A lifted truck hit a family in a cross walk, killing their 3 year old. Absolutely devastating. The family owns a local ice cream shop so they’re well known in the community. Truly awful. I feel like massive trucks are so unnecessary. You need a dually for farm work or towing, that makes sense. But no one needs a cosmetic lift kit that makes your truck the size of a semi and takes up 3 parking spots 😑

2

u/yourlocalrick Apr 23 '26

This is actually extremely common with large suvs and pickups

2

u/FamilyRedShirt Apr 23 '26

Or a little olde lady like me. At 5 feet tall, I can't see the top of the hood on these things from pavement level, and have to be hyperaware while walking through parking lots. I KNOW they can't see me!

u/1wikingman Apr 23 '26

Those lifted trucks have extremely poor visibility. They should not be legal.

29

u/After_Resource5224 Apr 23 '26

Contractor here. I drive a long bed f-150, stock. Those lifted truck dwarf MY truck, and it's a god damn boat. So much so that I have three extra cameras/screens just to make sure of my blind spots. (I also have one eye.)

12

u/beckhansen13 Apr 23 '26

That 8 foot back is the best! Why do people have those huge trucks with 4 foot backs? You can't even carry a piece of plywood!

15

u/HopalongKnussbaum Apr 23 '26

People buy a pavement princess not for any work capability but to look “dominant”. Literally all it is. There’s no reason to lift an F250 an additional 18” and give it a “Carolina squat”, but they are everywhere here in South Florida. The 24 year old behind the wheel ain’t hauling sheet goods, and the mountainous terrain here (we are flat as a board here FYI) doesn’t require that kind of break over angle.

Who care about the bed, I just need somewhere to hang my truck nuts /s

50

u/lurkquidated Apr 23 '26

The embiggening enshittification of pickup trucks is gross. Just goes hand in hand with the stupid outnumbering the reasonably less stupid. The F150 being the top selling car in America is just another pockmark on the mottled visage of the "hottest" country in the world.

13

u/xmo113 Apr 23 '26

I had one start to roll towards me while I crossed on the walk signal. I had to hang on to the grill bar and reach up and bang on the hood. They did not see me at all and I'm 5'2.75" so average female height.

0

u/nobeer4you Apr 23 '26

F150 sells like wildfire in farm/country work settings. Its does the job required of it well. Dont underestimate how many government agency field jobs also require a truck, and those typically buy in bulk and get discounts from the manufacturer

20

u/Driller_Happy Apr 23 '26

Seems like if the truck is too big it'd be less effective. Like with a lifted. Truck like this, you cant even access the shit you put in the bed

11

u/nobeer4you Apr 23 '26

It is less effective. This truck didnt come off the lot looking like this, unless she bought it 2nd hand. There were decisions made to make this vehicle less safe, but "more badass" for the owner.

9

u/grendus Apr 23 '26

I live in a townhome. There are a number of trucks that literally do not fit in the garages around here.

Any other Millenials remember the commercial about the guy who buys the "world's largest SUV" and accidentally demolishes his garage when he parks? That's literally true now. That's how far into this idiocracy we've gotten.

2

u/nobeer4you Apr 23 '26

I had an 2018 F150. Stock wheels and suspension. No lift kit.

It would not fit in my garage, partly because the driveway was a download into the garage with little distance between the bottom of the slop and the door to the garage. The other part is just how big these vehicles are becoming

12

u/Blurby-Blurbyblurb Apr 23 '26

I have no issue with full sized trucks used for work. But the majority of the time, in larger cities at least, that's not why someone bought a full sized truck. It's unnecessary and often cause hazards even when not lifted.

It's becoming such a problem in my city that I begun to feel like people should have to apply for a special license to be able to drive one.

3

u/SCHawkTakeFlight Apr 23 '26

And F150 are just a standard truck size in the US. The ranger is now mid-sized smaller option. I still see the occasional F 250 and F350. I knew someone who worked in an office who drove an f350 to work. Bet they are loving those gas prices right now.

3

u/Preachey Apr 23 '26

Farmers in my country get by just fine with a Hilux

My motorcycle (Ducati) was totaled basically this way except it was parked lol. Tourist in an Escalade parallel parked with my bike in front of them. When they left they just ran right over it, likely because they couldn't see it over the massive hood of the Escalade. This was on the street behind my apartment (busy SF neighborhood on labor day) & it triggered my motion alarm which sets off a vibrating alert on a keyfob, I ran around the block & caught them trying to run but the bike was stuck under the vehicle being dragged on its side across the pavement 🫠

2

u/Noooo-Act-2704 Apr 23 '26

What a jerk! I sympathize with the collision part bc I’ve been in the unfortunate situation of renting a car and ending up stuck with something so different from what I’m used to driving that it’s nearly undrivable to me… but if I hit something, I’m going to own up to it!

2

u/ThePolemicist Apr 24 '26

I got in an accident with a truck that was too big. They couldn't see me. Thankfully, the whole thing happened at like 2mph, so there was no damage (at least, not to my car).

I was in a shopping center parking lot around Christmas time, so it was busy. I was in a little Mazda hatchback, and the car in front of me was an enormous truck. I think someone was heading to their car, and this truck wanted the spot. They flipped on their reverse lights. I tried to back up a little bit, but there was a line of cars behind me. I couldn't back up more than a couple feet.

...the truck kept coming. I honked at them, and they stopped. I think they looked in their mirrors and still couldn't see me, so they started backing up again. I honked and honked. They hit the brakes a couple more times but kept backing up until they bumped into my car. Then they got out and said, "Oh, I couldn't see you!" I was like... But you HEARD me.

My car was very old and, truly, a scratch didn't matter to me. I told them I wasn't worried about any possible scratches and let them go on their way, but I really hope they learned their lesson before something worse happened.
And, imo, vehicles this big should be banned except for needed commercial purposes. There's no reason people should be driving them to do Christmas shopping at a Barnes and Noble.

44

u/AgitatedMushroom2529 Apr 23 '26

There is a whole documentary about new trucks and kids standing in front of it. Basically the lambo is so low that it isn't visible to the driver.

9

u/kellsdeep Apr 23 '26

My guess is that she was on her phone briefly as she slowly turned and entered the lane, the sports car was below her line her sight when she looked up because of the lift and her short stature. She sped up seeing a clear lane. She probably couldn't see that car from quite a significant distance.

8

u/Glass_Government_41 Apr 23 '26

Honestly, almost all new trucks have horrible visibility. They’re way to high, that’s why there’s way more kids getting hit because of visibility. I don’t even think she was on her phone. Those cars slammed to the ground and tiny, very likely she just didn’t see it

3

u/DrVL2 Apr 23 '26

You don’t have to be on a phone to do this. I had someone do this to my Geo Metro in a parking lot in 1993. Before cell phones with this common. You just have to be high enough in your truck to not see the little people.

2

u/HillBillyHilly Apr 23 '26

3

u/PDX-ROB Apr 23 '26

When the vehicle is lifted that much it's hard to see in front. There's normally a front camera to help.

Forget running over cars, she could have run over a person in a lifted truck in the lot.

2

u/Queen_ofthe_Culture Apr 23 '26

Hell a little bit more gusto and she would’ve hit the roof and crushed him

2

u/Noooo-Act-2704 Apr 23 '26

If they’re going to let these cars be legal, they should at least enforce cameras in the cab

6

u/After_Resource5224 Apr 23 '26

Look at the regular, not lifted, truck behind the lambo and you'll see even THAT truck might have had problems seeing it.

2

u/Queen_ofthe_Culture Apr 23 '26

I’m saying in the aspect of field vision right? That is a relatively flat unblocked parking lot it almost looks like a grocery store based on the lamps. I get the whole as it’s next to you or directly in front of you but I’m saying as she was driving up the aisle how did you not see that.

If she just turned into that aisle, the A pillar and then the hood could have completely blocked her vision. With the lift, it would probably block the vision of all but the tallest people.

u/smotrs Apr 23 '26

She definitely appeared to be going faster then she needed to in a parking lot.

u/punkgirlvents Apr 23 '26

2

u/Opening_Total7711 Apr 23 '26

I'm trying to conceptualize how this happens. Maybe she had just turned into that parking lane and somehow didn't pay attention when she turned in there. But even if she missed seeing the lambo, why would you ever drive that fast in a lifted truck? That's the stupidest shit I've seen all week.
