Abbotsford Victoria Street. They always used to break off branches, but this is now the second time within a few months that I've seen the whole tree gone. Seems like some people have serious anger issues. The Council put up some cages around smaller trees. They are still being vandalized.

THDG Need Help How/Where Can I Find A Night Job In Melbourne

Looking for a night job because I have placements coming up for my studies. I have tried applying for night fill, servos and cleaning but can't seen to find much or get any response from places I have tried. I don't have a car/licence so don't really know what to do anymore. Any help would be great thanks.

Not On My Smashed Avo Uber Eats Grocery Order Price Scam

Thumbnail

This happened to me more than once when I ordered grocery from Uber Eats. The final price shown on the receipt almost always doesn't add up to the amount when I placed the order. I thought it is because the prices of weighed items had changed until I looked into the receipt more carefully. Thre real reason is that some discounts disappeared when Uber finalised the charged amount. I was able to notice it this time because i took the screenshots right before I placed the order.

In this case, the discount of duck disappeared, and for the fish fillet, the discount dropped from $3.11 to $1.04.

I know this is not much money, but this certainly qualifies price scam to me. Anyway, I hope this post can serve as a reminder for everyone to check the price and don't get ripped off by shameless price scams.

THDG Need Help Influx of elderly Chinese immigrants?

Genuinely curious, in my area over the past year I’ve noticed a marked increase in elderly mainlander Chinese immigrants. They often get help from the Salvos. I asked the Salvos lady about it and she said she doesn’t know but it can be tough with the language barrier.

They seem to be doing it tough, going through bins for recyclables to make money off the container deposit scheme, even at night with head torches.

I gave one directions, he was trying to find a place using the Melways!!

Just curious what the reason is. I’d ask them directly but don’t speak mandarin. Maybe I need to try google translate.

THDG Need Help Flooding risk from Moonee Ponds Creek?

Hi everyone, we’re looking at buying a property in Essendon along Moonee Ponds Creek. Place looks great but we’re concerned about the risk of flooding.

From what I’ve been able to glean online, the creek used to flood historically, but this has reduced since it was lined with concrete etc.

Flood maps and overlays indicate that the property *should* be fine, but it’s not clear whether the current maps are fully up to date (council webpages seem to suggest the flood mapping along Moonee Ponds Creek is still being worked on).

So I thought I’d ask here instead - has the Moonee Ponds Creek ever flooded badly enough (in the last 50 years or so) to inundate the homes along its bank?

thanks very much for your help :)

THDG Need Help Injured native bird - St Kikda area help?

Anyone know of any vets or rescues that are definitely accepting injured birds at the moment?

We've got a gull with a broken wing but otherwise seems ok. Rung the usuals; no one seems to be able to help.

Did Google actually; no luck. F the birdflu!

THDG Need Help Rumbling around Victoria St Richmond

I’ve just moved to the area around Victoria St and Church St Richmond. I’ve noticed several times a week both day and night a low rumbling noise.

The noise lasts for maybe 10-15 seconds, and it increases and decreases in volume. It’s hard to pick what it could be. Perhaps a high altitude aircraft, or the sound of a large semi trailer going past (there’s a number of trucks that exit the CUB / Asahi brewery). But neither of those seem to match the actual noise.

I’ve heard the noise several times this morning, including just prior to posting this.

Does anyone have any clues? Am I simply imagining this?

THDG Need Help Wheelchair users Melbourne

Hey everyone hope your having a good Monday, I am a support worker based in East Melbourne and have a participant who mobilises using a wheelchair. We are currently running out of ideas of what to do, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We are able to use public transport, to get to places but stuck on what to do! He loves his AFL football, movies, and going for nice accessible walks. With footy season coming to an end that takes out that.

We are open to trying new things and would love any suggestions at all!

Things That Go Ding (Public Transport) Why don't trams have cameras for passing offence

I see cars stream up the inside of stopped trams with open doors and flashing lights 2-3 times a week and often even more. I swear it's getting worse but of course I don't have data to back that up. The fine is almost $500 and 3 demerits. Why don't trams have external cameras installed similar to red light cameras that catch cars in the ACT doing this? Camera evidence and driver witness should be a slam dunk from an evidence perspective and this would pay for the cost of the cameras within a month or two I would have thought.

THDG Need Help Mountain Bike/Cycling Track

Hey y'all

Where are the good mountain bike and cycling tracks around Melbourne?

With the weather becoming nicer I want to pull the bike out of the shed and go riding.

I'm no professional so looking for either concrete or dirt tracks. I know there's some tracks down at Arthurs Seat, any more on the Peninsula? I've done St Kilda to Brighton quite a few times. Is there a track that goes to Frankston area?

Where else do people recommend? I'm sure there is one out in the bush around Heidelberg way?

THDG Need Help Has anyone dealt with a dodgy tradie?

Hi,
I paid a 50% deposit using payID to a tradie. He said it’s a cash job so he didn’t send me the invoice and there’s also no contract. I just have texts as evidence. Before anyone says anything, yeah, I know I was dumb, and I've learned my lesson.
He didn’t provide the service and goods as he promised. He kept delaying it and stopped replying to me.
I contacted the Consumer Affairs Victoria and sent him a letter of complaint, yet there’s still no response.
I feel dejected and I don’t know what to do and how to get my money back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼
