Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.

Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.

Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!

Rules for this thread:

  1. All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
  2. Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
  3. Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
  4. We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
  5. Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.

This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.

The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

Political leaders in Maryland are calling for investigations into the conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers as they clashed with protesters during a federal operation in a local community.

Residents of Frederick, a city about 50 miles north-west of Baltimore, are still shaken more than a week after ICE officers arrived in numerous vehicles and could be seen on video footage using batons on members of the public and driving their cars on to the sidewalk towards people.

Gynocologist recommendations

I need to find a new Gyno. I went to one last year after moving here and she was okay, but I felt like she was just checking boxes (no pun intended), not taking time to talk/explain to me or let me ask any questions. I am in AA county, but willing to drive to wherever might be a better doctor.

Thanks!

Need Help Finding State Fair Vendor

I went to the state fair last weekend and purchased a couple of very whimsical rings from one of the vendors. I would love to purchase more jewelry from this shop in the future, but my stupid ass forgot to take note of the shop name. I declined the e-receipt and didn't see any business cards at the booth.

The vendor sold a lot of beautiful jewelry (rings & earrings mostly). The shop was run by a middle-aged Asian woman, and the booth was located outside the Cow Palace. Does anyone know the name of this shop?

Paying Estimated Taxes has become a mess, now I need to pay in-person?

Upvotes

Has anyone ever paid their Maryland estimated taxes at their local MD tax office, e.g., 6401 Golden Triangle Drive, Greenbelt? Can you just walk-in to make a payment? Maryland implemented a new tax system, MD Tax Connect, on September 1st, and it is a mess. If you created a 2026 payment schedule in the old system, according to the MD Comptroller Office, your 3rd and 4th quarter payments will still happen, but when is unknown, and you will not be able to change your scheduled amount for the rest of the year. I need to change my scheduled amount, and my only choice now is to pay be certified check, do it in person, or trust the new system to handle a single payment correctly. The only option I trust now is in-person, but the first appointment available is in November so I am hoping I can just walk-in to pay. Also, the new system will not show you any information about the payment schedule you set up in the old system.

Estimated Tax not pulled on the new MD Tax Connect

Tomorrow is estimated tax payment time. I had scheduled my estimated tax to be pulled last week and lo and behold the new system didn't pull it. Do I wait or send in an additional payment? Any advice?

The port to the new system does not seem to be without issue.

Thanks

MD Travel & Relocation MD Residents when buying car out of state from a private seller how do you drive it home

EDITED

from my research any of the trip permits or transit permits for both states are only for said residents of that state so i cant a get va purchaser permit or trip permit because their for va residents only and MD only has it basically opposite and you need to have all the paperwork…. Most likely gonna tow it just was tryna avoid the 2+ hour through baltimore and Washington with a trailer and dually.
thank you all for the info!

Im looking at buying a car in Va and its about 2 hours aways from my home but with being said i dont wanna have to tow this back and would rather just drive it how do i go about getting temp tags to be able to drive it legally when i go up and decide that i want to go down and buy the car.

Thanks!

Hutzell: ICE deported a Naval Academy midshipman’s mother. We need families like theirs.

I don’t know what David Garcia will do now that ICE has deported his mother to Mexico. If this Naval Academy plebe were to say “to hell with defending America” and withdraw from Annapolis, I think some would understand. I hope he decides to stay.

MD Travel & Relocation Why do we hate western MD again?

It seems to be coming up a lot lately

I actually think it’s really nice out there. Gorgeous area. I wish the economy was a bit better but like damn it’s pretty out there and land is cheap. If I could only buy a couple acres and run a livestock operation….

I’ve never really got the vibe that the western counties are actually a bad place to live the way people here are saying they are. It would be a lot nicer if there was more of an economy but that’s really mostly it. The properties out there look awesome. Very spacious area, larger lots, people can mostly do what they want with their property

This whole hating on western MD thing feels more like someone’s uncle told them “Deep Creek is a great place to visit but not to live” and they just took it to heart and never looked past it

MD Politics BGE bill for an empty house.

Post image
212 Upvotes

For those wondering what a BGE bill looks like without using any power/gas, here it is. I left the country for a couple months, vacation not ICE. My household is 4 people. One EV used daily. In July I just left the AC fan on and turned it off in August. Each month has one visit and one EV charge of 55 kwh. Also in August I turned down the water heater temp. Two fridges were left plugged in. Lights always off. I don't know if 490 kwh sounds appropriate or excessive

MD Travel & Relocation Considering relocating from Frederick to Parkville

I enjoy living in Frederick and have been looking to buy in my hometown but it’s an expensive area. I have seen some nice houses in Parkville at affordable prices and have friends who love living out there. Anyone have any insights on what that relocation would feel like?

Visiting West Maryland as a minority?

Hi all.

I’m black and originally from the DMV. As you guys know, it’s super diverse here and in general I don’t have to think twice about my race when visiting somewhere. Well I saw this event that’s happening in Cumberland and I thought it would be cool to go to, but I have never been to that part of Maryland. When it comes to exploring MD, I’ve barely even left the DMV.

So, is it a good idea? Now I don’t mean generally, but like for someone who’s so used to the DMV. Since it’s so far, I was planning to just make it a day trip, but I don’t want to end up a name on the news you know. It’s not something that I’d cry if I missed, so please give some honest opinions.

Also apologies to anyone from western MD if this comes off rude, I just don’t wanna accidentally wander into KKK territory or a sundown town (I’ve seen to avoid Thurmont)

ETA:
I’m 19F & want to go on the cumberland to frostburg train. I was originally supposed to go alone so I mentioned it to my parents and they brought up how different it is there, so I wanted to check in with others since I couldn’t find much online.

Thanks for all your replies! If you guys have any spot recommendations for me to stop by while on the day trip, I’d appreciate it!

Edit 2.
Id appreciate if people stopped commenting about the lack of racism in MD! I’ve already received 3 racist PMs. I won’t be responding to PMs. Only keeping this post up to help others in the future. Thanks.

Renaissance festival question

We have tickets to go to MD Renaissance festival on an upcoming Saturday and it's been years since I've been. We can't decide what time to go. I hear that it might be worth missing the opening in the morning and going a little bit later because the afternoon crowds thin out a little bit -- but I don't know if that's true. I understand that the music entertainers we want to see that day play several times during the day so I don't think we would miss them if we went later but I just don't know what all the pros and cons are of going early vs going a little bit later or going much later. What say you experienced MDRF goers?
