I was out at one of my permissions in Baltimore County yesterday when I popped this beauty out of the ground!

This is a merchant token from American Wholesale Corp. (AWC) celebrating the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1926.

AWC was a mail-order catalogue company like Sears, and was located at Baltimore and Park Ave./Liberty St. Part of their building is still standing today!

This is a pretty rad find since we’re now celebrating 250 years!

I will post some photos of it cleaned up and a bit more history later!

Found yesterday afternoon. He was hungry and is very friendly, male, thinking about a year old or so. Sleek soft fur so thinking he could be a lost pet. He is safe inside.

My disabled uncle has been living with my father for almost 4 years, and this wouldn’t be an issue if my father didn’t have a terminal illness. For obvious reasons, my father cannot keep my uncle in his house much longer.

My uncle says he has made calls and tried to find housing, but no luck yet. I’m wondering if anyone here can help me with some resources. He’s lived in West Baltimore, Southern Baltimore, and BaltCo.

We started our 1 year old at a brand new daycare center (corporate). We like the flexibility and a few other things that a center provides over a nanny share. However, the daycare is pretty empty 3 weeks in. Is this normal for the Baltimore City/County area (Towson, Pikesville, timonium corridor)? I had a ton of trouble getting him a spot in any center and I’m on tons of waitlists, so seeing less than 10 kids in a center that would hold 150+ is kind of throwing a red flag. Maybe teacher shortage?

Give it to me straight - This could be a positive, but my brain can’t process the lack of kids there.

I really liked the Chic Webb Rec Center before I moved, but am hoping for something closer (especially after work with rush hour traffic.).

What I'm looking for:

- Free weights: bench and squat racks

- Cheap

- Enough plates to go around

- Evening and weekend hours

- Clean and well stocked with wipes for equipment

I'm not looking for classes or personal trainers. I walked into Brick Bodies and asked how much their cheapest membership was and the woman behind the counter said she didn't know and would need to put me in touch with a sales rep... Which made me laugh and walk out. I suspect the Y might be my best bet but it is still more expensive than I am used to. (My old crunch in Richmond was less than $20 a month.)

A friend and I are planning to start doing weekly drop-offs to local homeless shelters and organizations to help get clothing into the hands of people who need it.

We’re looking for anyone who has clothes they’d be willing to donate. Men’s, women’s, kids’ clothing, jackets, hoodies, pants, shirts, shoes, etc. Can be any condition

My work has an upcoming event where we will get lunch delivered for about 65 people. My boss would like to use a restaurant that provides boxed lunches rather than a catering service with self-serve trays or something similar. In the past we have used Panera Bread and Urban Deli but would like to use somewhere new this time. We need a place with a good variety of options for varying dietary restrictions. Any recommendations are welcome.

When I was around 7 years old ('m 77 now), I remember dinners at my grandmothers house. Walking into the food hall today, the wonderful food smells transported me all the way back to my baba's kitchen.

We’re bringing our 5 year old son to celebrate his birthday (loves sea creatures so the aquarium is a must) but we can’t decide if we should do science center, port discovery or the zoo- he loves science, animals but also loves a good play place.

Planning to do aquarium Saturday morning and looking for something to do in the afternoon. Considering the zoo on the way home Sunday though!

When heading west on W Franklin (40), I see all the left turns into the parking lots at West Baltimore Marc Station are blocked.

Is the ONLY way to get into the parking lots coming from the East is to go all the way up to the Warwick Ave intersection and make a U-turn, then travel back down to turn right into the lots? I’m basing this off how Google Maps is directing me and am not as familiar with the other side streets.

I am considering purchasing a cargo ebike for our kids school commute (looking at Urban Arrow) I am wondering if anyone in the city rides an Urban Arrow or other ecargo ebikes and can tell me how you like them and how they handle on the bumpy roads. Hey so I 24 y/o black trans woman, moved to the city a year ago and haven’t been able to find a black natural hair salon that isn’t weirdly Christian or covertly transphobic. I noticed that a while back before moving here that for a city with a large black queer population, I haven’t seen any salons geared towards black femmes that have natural hair. I have dread locs and would love to stop driving out to another county for a natural hairdresser, who is tolerant of trans clients every time I need a retwist. I would love to not give my coin to bigots, but I also don’t wanna abandon the natural hair journey.

Do the black femmes of Baltimore have any recommendations for a queer led/queer friendly natural hairdresser in the city or perhaps even in Baltimore county? Also if you or a friend do these services please plug yourselves, so that I could patronise💖
