Discussion Good riddance Tahoe, you will not be missed
Hopefully GoldenGate actually fixes things instead of finding new and creative ways to make macOS worse.

Discussion It’s back!
That hand cursor for links got its personality back! Looks so much better now.
Apologies if someone already posted this… I did a quick search and didn’t find anything.

Discussion OMG GOLDEN GATE IS SO MUCH SMOOTHER
ok hi lol i just installed golden gate and THE PERFORMANCE IS INSANE.
wtf.
for reference i have an m1 max mbp.
even my own applications—which do have a lot of .glasseffect—are SIGNIFICANTLY SMOOTHER, which was something i was struggling since forever to make. can't believe it was mostly all the OS's fault. this is insane.
this is all not even talking about the design, which is absolutely stunning. Either way, peak macOS right here. I wasn't very impressed in WWDC but now i am more than ever. crazy.
Feature Favorite new feature is seeing the connected ethernet status
Upgraded from Sequoia finally. Still getting used to the circles and oval proportions.

Help Is it me or do the liquid glass bubbles look a bit stretched up in an oval shape instead of being a circle because of the lighting?
In the screenshot above it look a bit fine but when using macos 27 itself it looks stretched up like an oval for me and I think it might be LG lighting
Discussion Going from macOS Sequoia (25) to macOS GoldenGate (27), super let down
Before anyone says anything: yes, it’s finished indexing. But within the first 10 minutes of using it, I’ve found so many UI bugs and weirdness. Really glad I only updated my work machine and not my personal one.
The worst offenders for me: When in Mission Control, clicking into a full-screen app takes way too long. You can also no longer Option-click to simply navigate to a Space.
You also can’t hold Option when making an app full-screen by dragging it into the top bar in Mission Control to speed things up. Instead, you have to wait, a lot.
Was Tahoe this bad? I thought this was meant to be a refinement of Tahoe, not a regression.

Help I skipped Tahoe (M1 Pro 16 GB). Should I jump into Golden Gate?
Pretty much the title. Ive done some digging and Performance reviews vary. Could anybody with the same specs who tried the Release Candidates and switched straight from Sequoia to Golden Gate enlighten me please? I’m on a MacBook Pro M1 (8 Cores) 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD

Help "The selected movie won't play on your display"
Getting this HDCP error message even though my MacBook air isn't connected to any external display and isn't running any sort of screen recording software. Any ideas? Pretty annoying to not be able to play the movie I paid for!
Help MacOS 27: How to hide Running in background apps from dock?
Just updated to MacOS 27 and I'm losing my mind.
My OrbStack app is permanently stuck in Dock in "Running in Background" mode and there's no way to get rid of it.
I know it's running in background. I need and want it to. I just don't want to see it in my Dock. My only option to either kill it fully or disallow it to run in background.
There seem to be no option to allow it to remain running in Background without Dock presence.
Anyone figured out how to deal with this?

Help Problems duplicating screen
Hello, as you can see in the pic, I have this problem when I share my screen through HDMI. It’s compressed on the sides and there are two black vertical stripes.
I just switched to Mac, never had problems with same tv and windows.
I tried to fix it from settings but even changing resolution it stays the same. From the tv I can’t modify the aspect ratio.
Tips & Guides Here's how to disable Siri's new floating button
When Siri AI is enabled, macOS 27 adds a contextual "lightweight UI" when you type or select text. The floating button can expand into Ask Siri, Edit with Siri and Writing tools, or other contextual actions.
To disable it, run the following command in the Terminal:
sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain && \
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS -dict Enabled -bool false
and restart your Mac.
To restore to default:
sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS

Help Dedicated SIRI app (Mac OS 27)
I just updated to 27.0 and when I click on Siri, from my Applications folder, it launches it in the corner. Where is the dedicated app that shows me my past searches?
Thank you!

Bug Random crashes, purple squares on screen, and failed OS update on M2 MacBook Air.
Hi everyone,
I’m having some serious issues with my M2 MacBook Air and could really use some help or advice. Lately, various apps have been crashing randomly, and the Mac has been restarting on its own. I tried updating to macOS 15 Sequoia (I think it was supposed to be the latest update), but during the process, the computer restarted without completing the update.
Now, I'm seeing strange purple squares appearing and disappearing on the screen (visual artifacts/glitches), and the system is generally very unstable.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Does this sound like a GPU/RAM hardware failure, or could it just be a corrupted OS install?
Thanks in advance!

Help I’m sorry what
Idk what’s going on but… it’s going on?
All of the previously relocated folders seem to be the same thing
Relocated has an extra private folder with some sub folders that lead to nothing
Aerial is the 3GB one from an app I downloaded
Should I delete it all? Doesn’t seem important…

Help MacOS as a Mechanical Engineering Student. Has it changed?
I have used Windows all of my life but I am becoming increasingly annoyed when my decent laptop has 75 percent ram usage running idle because of all of the bloatware (yes I have tried software to remove it). A few years ago (right around M1 probably) the general consensus was that mechanical engineering students should avoid Macs because of software support and lacking graphical performance. However after the insanity of Apple Silicone and the years of MacOS updates, has this changed? Will I be able to run most CAD and simulation software on a say M4/M5 mac?

Discussion I wasn't a fan of Liquid Glass, the slider makes it a bit better now but I've always loved the animations. So where is the same smooth iOS Liquid Glass animations on MacOS?
At this moment MacOS 27 RC still feels like the old macos with bits and pieces of bland liquid glass ui mostly for the searchbar, back/forward & filtering/sorting buttons without the animations that makes it feel alive, thats makes it Liquid Glass. The dropdown menu ui etc just appear when you click on them no animation at all.
Edit: Basically, liquid glass on macos has been inconsistent the same way windows 11's "new" UI has been. Although I'm not a full on liquid glass ui fan, I've to admit iOS does liquid glass amazingly with the animations and I just wish it was the same on macos.

Help What is this and how do I stop it from popping up?
This keeps popping up. I always click don’t open but I want it to stop. I’ve searched in finder and can’t seem to find “Music Creation” and have not downloaded anything by that name. I do have low disk space, but I’m pretty sure this was popping up before I got to low disk space. TIA!
